At the very end of the Tracy Arm Fjord, which has 400 years of geological history, is the Sawyer glacier. This fjord came into being when the glaciers melted 400 years ago. On both sides of the fjord there are mountains that run perpendicular to the sea and are around 300 meters high.
We are getting closer and closer to the Sawyer glacier inside the fjord. As we get closer, the pieces of glacier we see in the emerald green sea are growing. The real cause of these ruptured glaciers was not global warming, but a natural process. Only global warming is accelerating this process.
As we move towards the end of the fjord, the fog that has settled on the mountains, the iceberg pieces floating in the water and the lush waterfalls flowing from the mountains offer an incredible sight. It’s hard to tell if this is heaven or hell!
When we come to the end of the fjord, our ship stops and those who wish can go as far as the Sawyer glacier with small boats. Since we will take a helicopter tour, we could not take this tour due to time constraints. But I can say that those who went back were very satisfied.
There are hotels such as Alaska’s Capital Inn Bed and Breakfast and Silverbow Inn, where you can stay in Juneau during your trip.
