Zagreb, Croatia : The road between Lubliana and Zagreb is comfortable as it is a highway it’s going to be a journey. After 1.5 hours, we parked our car in the center of Zagreb.. After saying that the area we parked is quiet, we soon find ourselves in the middle of a lively street market set up in a big square..

Dolac market in our Places to See in Zagreb list in the center of the city, It is both a touristic and local market, where market aunts sell vegetables and fruits, and ruddy, robust Croatian uncles in the cafes around it sip their morning beer like they sip morning tea.. When we continue to tour the market, we reach Tkalciceva, a cute street closed to vehicle entrance, where cafes, restaurants, workshops and galleries are located.. The place where we will have lunch has been determined 🙂 But first, we are going to take a tour of historical and touristic places.. The city consists of two parts, Gornji Grad (Upper Town) and Donji Grad (Lower Town). We are visiting the Gornji Grad part where the artifacts from the Middle Ages are concentrated.. Rather than our special interest in medieval artifacts, our desire to keep our distance to the restaurant street Tkalciceva has an effect on this choice 🙂

We go back to the restaurant street, we examine the menus of the ones we like, we prefer a restaurant that offers options from the Sarajevo cuisine that we liked very much.. The smell of beautiful meatballs creates a magnet effect on us.. Meatballs and a nice, ice-cold Ouzjsko beer, it tastes good on a summer day :). It turns out that this is Zagreb’s specialty.. Too late! We’ve already had our fill, this special is leaving for another spring :(. After having a rest in one of the cafes in Cvjetni Square, which we find the most colorful among the squares, we turn back. Where did we actually leave the car 🙂
