ANCIENT CITY OF AMOS
With the beautiful knowledge of all Marmaris coves, 5 of our Marmaris trip. We turn our route to other bays that we look forward to exploring on the day of: İçmeler, Turunç Village, Amos Ancient City and Kumlubükü.

Icmeler: Having a ‘Turkish breakfast’ after a short walk along the ‘Promenade’ on the coast of Icmeler We preferred the Sea Gate Restaurant.. Anyway, as far as we saw here, we didn’t have many alternatives for a classic Turkish breakfast.. Icmeler, in the city center of Marmaris, is under British colonial rule. , you see the English menus written outside the bars. Chalkboard, neon, glossy paper, it doesn’t matter. You are invited to the venues as ‘yes pliz’ and you try to be tempted by saying ‘one buy get one free’.. There is a cultural confusion that you cannot see anywhere else in the world, and an atmosphere of unnecessary hospitality prevails here.. In other words, if we were not Turks, we could think whether these areas really belonged to Turks or were colonies.. Anyway, let’s leave the average English tourists trying to have fun with the most cliché English music and unnecessary generous shows and come to our cultural tour. After our delicious Turkish breakfast, which you really enjoyed, after sipping our Turkish coffee, the destination is: Turunç Village, Amos Ancient City and Kumlubükü. It would be like this: Marmaris is the coast, a smaller one is İçmeler and its smaller one is Turunç.. All of them have a similar visual feast. The deep blue sea and the lush nature along both sides of the bay.
You continue to Turunç in the opposite direction of Marmaris after İçmeler.. It is approximately 20 km from Marmaris and 12 km from İçmeler.. While exploring Marmaris bays along the way, the route we can’t get enough of is also dominant on the way to Turunç.. In the shade of the pine trees, saluting the turquoise sea and following the winding mountain road, make an “S” and the asphalt road takes you down the slopes towards the Turunç coast.. All you have to do is sit back and follow the signs…
Turunç has a pretty small centre.. You can understand that you are in the center where the slope ends and you see the small bridges stretching out to the sea, leaving the shops along the road behind you.
The tea garden next to the small iron bridge that is closest to the sea, where you can hold on if you extend your hand, is an ideal location for a break.. You can take a tea and coffee break and then swim on the beach right in front of you.. As you can rent sunbeds and umbrellas, there is also a public beach where you can lay your own towel. Being able to swim along the coast is one of the advantages of staying in Turunc.. By the way, there are many hotels and hostels for accommodation in Turunc.. It is very easy to find a place to lay your head when you come here shshs..
Leaving Turunç behind us, we climb up the mountain again and follow the brown Amos signs this time.. You can enter the sea from Amos Bay from Amos Restaurant, located on the beach of the Professor’s Site. While we were climbing up the hills, we said let’s not get in and out, and first we pass the Amos Restaurant sign and go to visit the ancient city of Amos, which is about 2 km away.
Amos Ancient City if the original was true, it could be a great relic. But here we see once again the importance not given to ancient cities in Turkey.. Because only the Ancient Theater and Seyir Tepe remained from the city built on top of Amos Bay.. There is no need to make a separate attempt for the cruising hill anyway.. You will see many ruins scattered around the area.. Don’t be discouraged by these squalid and steep stairs.. If you think, “I’ve seen many ancient cities, if there’s nothing to see, I’d rather not see them”, you would be wrong.. Because you will encounter one of the most beautiful views you can find in Marmaris.. When you follow the arrows from the stairs and go up to the top of the view, you will have Kumlubükü on one side and Amos Bay on the other side.
And a magnificent view! Don’t settle for just the cruise hill. A wonderful view will be waiting for you from the stage ruins of the Amos Ancient Theatre.. But what a view! We spent a lot of time here and sipped this beauty for a long time in the face of the blessings that nature offered us.. A breathtaking panoramic view…
Kumlubükü The bay where Kumlubükü Yacht Club is located, we can say a little more luxurious than Amos Bay. The bay, where speed boats, private boats, and jet skins can be found, has a long beach.. We prefer Amos Bay…. Since it is a holiday site, it can be considered as no entry permit.. But Amos Restaurant, where the site meets the sea, is open to everyone.. The restaurant has clean changing rooms and showers.. So it would be wrong to just say restaurant.. More like a facility. In this restaurant, where you can find dishes such as hamburgers as well as fish products, prices are also normal… Amos Restaurant is in front of the beach.. This stony beach is separated by a small pier and is open to use on both sides.. The only downside of the beach may be for sunbathers. Because the steep slopes cut the sun very early and the beach is almost all shaded at 17:00… You can rent sun loungers and umbrellas, or you can have something to eat and drink at the restaurant, protect your table, and swim in the sea, as we did.. You can also sit on the right side of the restaurant when you enter.. Ideal for the combination of reading a book and the sea.. And here we are adding new fish species that surprise us in every bay of Marmaris. It is a pleasure to swim in Amos Bay, literally…
Continue before the sun sets and stay in Icmeler we are going back to our place. By digesting the scenery we saw along the way…
