Jacques Majorelle, who also loves to travel, turns the garden into an oasis by planting many plants he collects from the countries he visits.. When the garden grows and the costs increase and the garden opens to the public. Jacques Majorelle, who cannot work after consecutive traffic accidents, is forced to sell his garden, which has turned into a great passion, to which he has devoted his life to financial difficulties.. This passionate life ends in Paris in 1962.
Although the garden, to which Jacques Majorelle devoted his life with great devotion, remained unclaimed for a few years, the fate of the garden changes with the discovery of Yves Saint Lauren and Pierre Berge.. Although Yves Saint Laurent is actually Algerian, Marrakech is the city he considers home. It is very close to this garden in the house where he lived with Pierre Berge when he lived in Marrakech.. In the story of the Majorelle Garden and its creator, the couple, who are affected by the story of its creator, try to protect the garden with great effort when they learn that the neglected garden will be demolished and a hotel will be built in its place.
But all their efforts fail and they buy the garden as a last resort.. They bought the land in 1980 and brought the garden back to life. The garden, which has returned to its old days with the restoration of the buildings in the garden, the care of the plants and the increase in their number, is opening to the public again.. Yves Saint Laurent, who has become the center of attention with his extraordinary stance, success in design and handsomeness, is the starting point of the bold lines of Yves Saint Laurent. He died in 2008 and his ashes were dumped in the rose garden in front of the building that was once used as the workshop of the museum’s creator, Jacques Majerolle.. A small monument was built in the garden in memory of the fashion designer.. And the name of the street where the garden is located was changed to Yves Saint Laurent to keep the memory of the fashion designer alive.
