Bodrum Travel Guide 2. Section

Turgutreis

People who settled in Bodrum in recent years mostly prefer Turgutreis. Because Turgutreis is almost like a mini city. Whatever you are looking for is at hand. Turgutreis is located 45 minutes from Bodrum center by car..

The Turgutreis market, which was established on Saturday, is so famous that most of the visitors come from Kos Island. In addition to the vegetable and fruit market, you can find many things from clothes to household goods.. However, the prices are a bit more expensive than other markets, you can reduce the price a little by bargaining.

Turgutreis Bazaar is surrounded by shops on both sides, where you can buy souvenirs for your loved ones.. Be sure to stop by Fatma Bacı’nin Yeri in the Bazaar.. Çiğbörek and its ravioli are quite famous.. The most popular place of Turgutreis in summer D-Marin. In addition to being an open shopping center, it is one of the most frequented spots especially in the summer months with its restaurants and cafes..

If your holiday coincides with the end of August, you can attend the D-Marin Classical Music Festival, which is held every year. Concerts of world-famous names such as Fazıl Say and Idil Biret draw great attention. So much so that tickets can be sold out days in advance. Turgutreis is also one of the points where ferries depart if you want to go to Kos Island.

Flights to Kos Island are organized twice a day in summer from the yacht section of D-Marin.

Yi-Geç Restaurant, located on the opposite street of D-Marin, is an address you can stop by if you are craving fish. There is a real Nevizade atmosphere here.. Although it has a shabby atmosphere with wooden chairs placed on the streets, the appetizers and fish are quite delicious.. If you crave dessert on fish, you can find another branch of Bitez Ice Cream here..

Places to Visit in Bodrum: Gumusluk

One of the bays where you can experience the most beautiful state of Bodrum Gumusluk. It is one of the places to see with its magnificent sunset view, fish restaurants and Rabbit Island.. Excavations continue at certain times of the year in Gumusluk, where the ruins of the Ancient Myndos city are located..

I recommend you to come to Gumusluk in the evening. Together with Yalıkavak, you can capture wonderful photo frames in Gumusluk, the place where the sunset can be watched most beautifully in Bodrum.

When you enter Gumusluk, small shops selling jewellery and clothes greet you one after another.. Every summer, the International Gümüşlük Music Festival is held at the Eklisia church at the entrance.. You can sit inside or outside and enjoy classical music at sunset.. However, sitting outside is a better option as the piano sound echoes inside and because of the heat.

After heading towards the beach, you can see fish restaurants, bars and cafes, respectively.. When it comes to Gümüşlük, there is no doubt that the most well-known fish restaurant Mimoza. It is necessary to make a reservation days in advance to go to Mimoza, which is very busy in the summer months.. Since this place is frequented by celebrities, the prices are above average.

After passing the fish restaurants, you can see the Western Bar. This is one of the most popular places in Gümüşlük.. You can stop by Faik’s Gayvesi to enjoy tea and coffee.. The meatball bread here is also very delicious.. If you want, you can buy bagels and pastries from Gumusluk Patisserie and eat them here.. Tea 2.5 TL, coffee 6 TL, half a meatball bread 20 TL. (2019)

Gumusluk may not satisfy you enough as a sea. The sea is shallow and has a lot of seaweed.. Rabbit Island is an island that you can walk through the sea. Water comes up to your knees. However, do not try to go barefoot, make sure to wear sea shoes.. Unfortunately, the number of rabbits that gave the island its name is decreasing..

With the excavations made here, historical values that have been under the ground for thousands of years are starting to come to light.. For this reason, some parts of the island can sometimes be closed due to excavation works.

The sunset view in Bodrum is something else.. One of the best places to watch this is undoubtedly Lemon. Limon, on the way to Gumusluk, became so famous that it was almost impossible to find a place.. You can find a wide menu from breakfast to dinner at the venue.

Another alternative to lemon is Wire Cabinet. The view is breathtaking as the place is located right on the top of Gümüşlük.. Have yourself a glass of drink and don’t forget to make a wish at sunset 🙂

Yalıkavak

With its never-ending breeze, famous windmills and unique sunset view, Yalıkavak is one of the most sought-after bays in Bodrum.. Yes, it’s a bit far from the center (approximately 40 minutes) and the road is very winding, but if you happen to come here in the evening, just at sunset, it’s not worth it..

Take your car to the right on the hill overlooking the windmills and sit on the benches and enjoy the view. When you get to the center, you can take a walk on the beach and visit the Yalikavak Bazaar.. Kavaklı Köftecisi, located in the bazaar, is the most famous one here.. You can always see a queue in front of it.

When you walk along the beach, you can see that people are getting more stylish.. Because here is the most beautiful marina of Bodrum, Palmarina. There were very few stores in the past, but now you can feel like you are in Nice or Cannes in Palmarina, which has been renovated and included world-famous brands..

If you are fond of yachts, you can see the million dollar yachts of rich people from many countries of the world here.. The amphitheater behind the marina hosts many concerts in summer.. If you come across it, you can buy your ticket online and come to the concert here.

The number of beach clubs in Yalıkavak, which is famous for its Tilkicik and Kdür coves, is also quite high.. Dodo Beach and Xuma are among the beach clubs you can choose in this region.. A little further from Dodo Beach, there is a free beach where you can enjoy Kdür Bay..

Because it is crowded on weekends, if you want to relax, it is better to come during the week.. Although there are picnic tables, you will be more comfortable if you bring a folding chair.

You can read my detailed article about Kıdır Cove here.

I suggest you stop by Dibeklihan Art Village on the Yalıkavak road.. You can have a drink or stay for dinner at Dibeklihan’s cafe, where exhibitions are held every year for valuable names.

Gundogan

How fondly we used to go, regardless of the distance. Because it was a virgin, because it had lush trees. In fact, when we first set foot in Bodrum, we decided to stay in an apartment in Gündoğan and buy a house.. Come and see that Gundogan has changed a lot over the years.. First the trees were cut down, then the green was replaced by gray hotels and estates.. Even though we don’t go as often as before, Gündoğan continues to host holidaymakers with its charming mosque by the sea, restaurants during the day, beach and evening.

Türkbükü

It was so popular five years ago that you could see it on the magazine pages and news every day.. But I don’t think it’s popular anymore.. Because people realized, albeit late, that giving 100 liras for 10 liras of lahmacun was robbery..

Turkbuku has started to appeal more to university students with happy hours that start in the evening and entertainment that continues until the first light of the morning.. Göltürkbükü, located ahead of it, is a quieter bay than Türkbükü.. The sea is also much cleaner..

Bag

Green pine forests and oxygen reservoir Torba is one of the closest coves to the center. Here are more sites. Its sea is warmer and shallower than other bays.. You can choose Torba for a peaceful holiday, and you can easily reach Bodrum center, which is ten minutes away in the evening..

Güvercinlik

Guvercinlik, which is the closest bay to Bodrum Airport, is undoubtedly Bodrum’s quietest place. You will love the peaceful Güvercinlik, where you can breathe the beautiful forest air and taste the freshest fish at the fishermen on the beach..

Mumcular

You can reach Yalıçiftlik by following the winding roads of Kızılağaç in Mumcular, where your eyes will be full of green.. If you see white domed structures on the road, don’t ask what they are.. These are Bodrum’s famous cisterns. Although the cisterns that used to meet the water needs of the villages are not used now, they add a different beauty to the village.. You can read my article about Yalıçiftlik and Mazi Bay here.
