My Comments and Impressions of the New Peugeot 301

The best-selling cars in Turkey every year are in the B and C segments.. The combined ratio of these two accounted for 83 percent last year.. As such, there is serious competition in this segment.. Peugeot also wants to get its share of this cake with a car that winks at these 2 segments.. Despite positioning itself in the B segment, I took a short trip from Yalova to Istanbul with the make-up 2017 model Peugeot 301, which winks at the C segment with its dimensions.

We received information about the renewed Peugeot 301 in Yalova, where we were invited by Peugeot Turkey.. Afterwards, we took a test drive from Yalova to Istanbul.. About the 2017 Model Peugeot 301

Peugeot, which was first introduced at the Paris Motor Show in 2012 The 301 was first launched in Turkey in November 2012.. Afterwards, it took its place in the Far East markets.. The car is produced at the Vigo plant in Spain, together with its twin brother, the Citroen C-Elysee.. It also has a separate production facility in China.. The models sold in Turkey come from the Vigo factory.. The biggest customer of the factory is Turkey.. 42 percent of the Peugeot 301s produced in the Vigo factory since 2012 have been sold to Turkey.

What are the Alternatives of the New Peugeot 301?

It would be useful to start by talking about its competitors.. This car is in the B sedan segment with Renault Clio Symbol, Hyundai Accent Blue and its twin brother Citroen C-Elysee.. In addition, with its dimensions, it is a more economical alternative to Fiat Egea in the C sedan segment.. This car and the cars it competes with are competing for the fleet market rather than the end user.. A very important part of the sales in this segment are made to fleet rental companies that supply cars to companies. Therefore, factors such as durability, total cost of use, fuel consumption and low price are very important factors in purchasing.

Peugeot 301 Driving Impressions and Comments

The car underwent its first makeover since 2012. Even if I say make-up, the make-up operations of many brands are happening like a renewal.. You hardly distinguish the facelifted car from the old one.. The new 301 had a similar operation.. Especially thanks to the change in the front of the car, the 301 has become very handsome.. Looks like a premium car. This change is achieved thanks to the new vertical front grille, LED daytime running lights, headlights, horizontal hood.. The rear design is not as radical as the front.. If you look carefully, you may notice the new “lion’s paw” on the rear lights.

Inside the car, the 7-inch touchscreen multimedia is the most striking element.. Thanks to the capacitive screen technology, the touch screen can be used as easily as on phones.. You can also use smartphone applications thanks to the Mirror Screen feature with Android Auto and Apple Carplay support.. This is a very practical feature, especially for those who travel and use navigation like me.. And you don’t need TRT FM on Anatolian roads.. You can also use Spotify from this multimedia screen.

Technologies such as the rear view camera, parking sensor, cruise control are starting to be offered as standard, just like the digital screen.. On the other hand, the digital indicator that we see on the Peugeot 3008 is not here.. I think this technology can be applied to the 301 in the next generation.

What are the Cons of the New Peugeot 301?

In my opinion, the absence of an automatic transmission option is a minus.. Its competitors have a petrol automatic transmission option.. Of course, the main reason for this is the cost.. Automatic transmission cars make up only 14 percent of the B sedan market. 76% of the market consists of diesel manual cars.. The main reason for this, of course, is cost.

With its 640 liters of luggage volume, it has a much larger volume than both its competitors in its segment and Egea in the upper segment.. However, although there is a very large trunk volume, the opening and closing mechanism of the trunk renders some of that area unusable. There is a little more way.

Although the window opening buttons are in the middle, not on the door, it is not very good in terms of ergonomics, but it will not be a problem in long-term use.

2017 Model Peugeot 301 Technical Specifications

<

The car is offered to Turkey with 2 engine options: a petrol 1.2L PureTech 82 HP engine combined with a five-speed manual gearbox and a diesel 1.6L HDi 92 HP engine. The gasoline engine is an engine used in Euro 6 norms and many new models.. The diesel engine is the brand’s old diesel engine in Euro5 norms.. 1.6L in Euro 6 norms. Blue Hdi engine not available in New 301. The main reason for this is that Euro 6 norms are not mandatory in Turkey at the moment.. Thanks to the old engine, the brand is able to offer much more affordable price options.

We achieved an average fuel consumption value of 5 lt/100 km according to the trip computer by driving at an average speed of 78 km on an 87 km road with a 301 with a 1.6 liter diesel engine.. It is normal that the cars are much higher than the factory data because they are brand new.
