Last February, my wife and I made a 15-night Asian trip from Istanbul to Singapore – Bali – Kuala Lumpur – Langkawi – Penang.. Before I went, I detailed my holiday plan, flight ticket and accommodation costs in my 2017 February Holiday Plan: Destination & Cost article.. In this article, I will explain with graphs how much money we spend on what and how much money we spend in each country, and finally, we will find out how much the holiday costs in total, including flight tickets.. Thus, I will try to give an idea about how much a similar holiday will cost.. Since the prices are from 2017, you can add a little bit by considering factors such as exchange rates and inflation.
Let’s start with Singapore, we were in Singapore for 3 nights.
As we can see, there is an excessive expenditure on accommodation; because we stayed one night in Singapore’s most famous hotel, Marina Bay Sands.. This was all because we wanted to see it as an experience, otherwise it is not necessary to spend this much money for the hotel.
When I say touristic expenses, I mean things like entrance fees, it is high. The reason is that we bought tickets to Singapore Universal Studios, including a trial ticket, without waiting in line.. We also bought tickets to a fun museum called the Trick Eye Museum.. For those who don’t care about such things, these fees may be out of pocket.
The cost of transportation is low, because you can go anywhere in Singapore by subway. We did not choose expensive restaurants for food.. Women may not believe it, but I never shopped, I don’t buy much since we go out with backpacks anyway, but since it was our second visit to Singapore, they had magnets or something, so we completely reset this part
Our second stop was Bali, we stayed 6 nights in Bali. Where to Stay in Bali for my advice and considerations when choosing a hotel? Don’t forget to read my post.
Unlike Singapore, we spent a lot of money on transportation in Bali ; Because it is not possible to use public transport in Bali, and it is not wise to rent a car as the traffic flows in the opposite direction, the roads are very narrow and the distances are very far.. So, we traveled with a driver for 4 days, almost all tourists in Bali do that.. Those who will go to Bali can write to me for driver information.
The reason why we spend a lot on food is that the hotel breakfasts in Bali are not open buffet, but only in the form of a plate, and the 4 different hotels we stayed in it was all. When you don’t eat much in the morning, one gets very hungry during the day, at least we are the types who normally eat the world at hotel breakfast and then spend the day full And if you like sea food and freshly squeezed fruit juices like us, the cost of each meal is so high.. The cost will be lower for those who like to eat street delicacies from the street stalls as locals eat, we tried it on the first day, but we always ate at restaurants after we didn’t like it.. Of course, the fact that restaurants add 20% as tax + service charge to the account each time is a shock.
I have stated in the ‘touristy’ section the fees for the 4 days we visited with the driver, the entrance to the touristic places, swinging on the huge swing in the forest ($20 per person) and the Balinese massage we had done twice ($7 – 8 per massage).. Those who will spend more sea-sun holidays without traveling too much may have lower expenses in this part.
Our last stop is Malaysia; I specified the whole of Malaysia together as Kuala Lumpur for 3 nights, Langkawi for 2 nights and Penang for 1 night.
As we stayed in a 5-star luxury hotel in Kuala Lumpur for one night, the cost of accommodation is quite high compared to other cost items, the cost will be lower for those who do not intend to do such a thing.. But if you like infinity pool hotels like me, Kuala Lumpur is a relatively affordable place to experience it, book my stay at the following hotel now: The Face Suites
There is a ferry ticket from Langkawi to Penang in transportation, half of it is already there.. We used the subway as much as we could in Kuala Lumpur, but there were places where taxis were needed. Unfortunately, we discovered late that Uber is cheaper than regular taxis, but keep in mind We also rented a motorcycle for a day in Langkawi, its cost is included in the transportation costs.. Note that I have not included only KL – Langkawi and Penang – KL flight tickets in this section, I will only include the planes in the final total cost part.
So let’s look at our total cost. Here I am collecting the cost items that I have just given the breakdown for three different destinations and add the cost of the flights below to the transportation part.. Thus, we find all the money out of our pocket.
Istanbul – Singapore (Qatar Airways)
Singapore – Bali (JetStar)
Bali – Kuala Lumpur, Kuala Lumpur – Langkawi, Penang – Kuala Lumpur (Air Asia)
Kuala Lumpur – Istanbul (Qatar Airways)
Total Our cost was 13.409 TL.. The fact that we had to decide on this holiday for our own reasons immediately eliminated our opportunity to follow the best price on Qatar Airways tickets.. In other words, for those who could be more flexible, tickets could be bought for a total of 1000 TL cheaper.
I told you that you can spend less on accommodation and get a cheaper flight ticket for a trip to Asia. Let’s see what you can spend more on.. We went with a backpack, so we did not pay extra luggage on any of the 4 intermediate flights (JetStar and AirAsia flights are not included in the luggage). If you are not a backpacker, you will have to pay a luggage fee of at least 70 – 80 TL per person for each flight.. In this case, we can say that the amount you have to pay for luggage for two people on 4 flights will start around 600 TL.

As it was our second trip to Singapore, we had done some things beforehand, touristic fees may be higher for a first time visitor.. In addition, it is very attractive for shopping lovers that the prices are affordable, especially in Bali, as I said, we did not have room in our bags, but it is useful for those who come with suitcases to pay attention to their expenses Also, I studied the Bali travel plan very carefully, so we traveled quite effectively on the days we hired a driver. maybe like 1.5 days for the day’s money. It may be necessary to keep the driver longer for those who do not prepare adequately.. In Kuala Lumpur, using the subway is difficult; Since the city is very big, it may be necessary to walk a lot to the metro stops.. For those who say they can’t take a taxi, the transportation cost will increase.
We paid 20 dollars per person to experience this swing in Bali.
As a result, if the flight ticket is suitable, if you stay in normal category hotels such as 3 stars, if you don’t eat or drink in very expensive restaurants, and don’t do too much shopping, the price of such a 15-night Asian trip is average for two people. We can say that it will be around 10 – 12 thousand TL.. Let’s add that “I travel for cheaper” so that people don’t get tired, yes, it’s cheaper, of course.. I tried to explain not how much this holiday would be ‘cheapest’, but how much it would cost ‘on average’ for those who want to travel like me.. If you prefer a concept such as staying in hostels, skipping paid touristic activities, eating at the cheapest places or cooking where you stay, there are many people who travel that way and spend less money.
