After visiting the
Capital Muscat (you can check my Places to Visit in Muscat) post, we now turn the route south.. We hit the road to witness the wonderful natural landscapes in Oman. We see the turquoise sea and the endless orange deserts.. We suddenly feel cold, sometimes we suddenly get burned in Oman. But despite everything, we enjoy it in every city we go to.. I’m starting to talk about other cities to visit in Oman :
I explained how I found cheap flights abroad and which search engines I used in my “Best Flight Search Engines” article one by one.. I would definitely recommend you to read it.
Where are the places to visit in Oman?
Oman is not just about Muscat, the capital city.. Let me state this first. So, now I will tell you about 8 important places to visit outside of Muscat by showing them on the map one by one.
<p id="caption-attachment-11114"
While you are visiting these 8 points, I would like to state from the beginning that you must have a vehicle.. So, if you are going to Oman and rent a car, you can benefit from this article.
1-Wadi Shab Resort
After saying hello to Muscat, we now head to our next stop, the city of Sur.. On the way to Sur, we say let’s take a rest at Wadi Shab Resort on the way.. The weather is hot. At noon the sun is above us. It really pisses people off.
But the place is nice. actually a hotel. But it also has a restaurant. We both enjoy the restaurant and have some fun by the pool.. Before us, the endless Indian ocean. pale yellow beaches. Unemployed. Quiet. But it gets crowded especially in the evening.. It is one of the popular places, especially during the peak season of the winter.. I would definitely recommend you to take a look.
2-Bimah Sinkhol
Leaving Wadi Shab Resort and heading to Bimah Sinkhole (Wikipedia) You can refer to Bimah Sinkhole.). They are one of the most interesting stops among the places to visit in Oman.. This place is actually a sinkhole.. I don’t know if I should call the color of the water in the pit azure or green.
The story of this place is also interesting: Omanis think that this sinkhole is a place made by aliens.. Some say it happened after the meteorite fell.. Admission is free.
3-Wadi Al Shab
We continue from the shore. Since the country has almost 2,100 km of coastline, there is plenty of coast to visit.. We take pictures at Wadi Al Shab on the way and continue on our way without spending much time.. “Do not worry. We are going to a better one.” says Ramazan.
You are right Wadi Tiwi We understand when it comes to. By the way, there is one more thing. Let’s watch the video I prepared for Oman. Thus, you can see everything much more beautiful and vividly.
4-Wadi Tiwi
Wadi Tiwi suddenly greets us while we are walking along the beach.. I call it “the valley”. “How beautiful can it be?” Without saying, a fascinating landscape appears before me.. This is really a very beautiful place.. The country is arid but it’s like an oasis in the desert. Clean waters, lush trees and hundreds of meters high steep mountains behind it appear in my mind like a picture.
We take great photos and turn our way to Sur city. By the way, I say it again: If you go to Oman, I say don’t go back without seeing these valleys.
5-Sur City
You know what happens in the movies: Pirates they slowly approach the lighthouse to loot pretty towns. Then suddenly the camera rises higher and higher and a town with white houses appears in the middle of the desert.. Right by the ocean, you know! For me, the city of Sur was just such a place.. It’s a place like a fairy tale.
A beige lighthouse just at the entrance of the city. The top layer of the lantern is blue. a small port. white houses behind. The city of Tire was such a place.. And a boat anchored in the harbor. Not without it !
This is a place that I really liked.. Both the beaches and the view of the city from afar were very pleasant. Having a constant tide on it was perfect for Deniz, who likes to take pictures.. I looked as I looked. By the way, the city is located in the south of the country and one of the most commercial areas in Oman.. Do not pass by without stopping by on the way.
6-Ras Al Jinz
I was born in Muğla, I grew up in Fethiye. My life was spent on the beaches. In our region, especially in summer, thousands of carettas, sea turtles, would come to our houses and lay their eggs on our beaches.. Then a few months passed, the cubs would meet with water.
Here we go to Ras Al Jinz just to witness it. The famous green turtles in the country lay their eggs in this region during these months.. Only 3% of eggs survive. Each turtle weighed almost 150 kg.. Like many turtles, after traveling around the world, they come to the same beach and lay their eggs as they do every year.
Ras Al Jinz is one of the best places to see green turtles.. Dozens of hotels in the region welcome thousands of tourists. You check into the hotel and go to the beaches with the guides, either around 9-10 in the evening or around 4-5 at night.. We say let’s join the 9 p.m.. About 20 people are running to the shores of the Indian Ocean, accompanied by our guide’s lantern.
It’s windy. It’s dark all around. There’s not a single light around. This being the case, I cannot find words to describe the visual feast in the sky.. I am experiencing one of the most beautiful views and moments of my life in Oman.
When we come to the beach, our guide warns us, “There are turtles everywhere.. Take pictures but without flash. Or the animals will be disturbed. I will easily show you the direction using the flashlight in my hand.. These lanterns don’t bother the turtles. So please follow my instructions and watch out for baby turtles around.
They try to come to the light even with the phones we have, and they may lose their way.”. Even on the way back to the hotel, we see lost baby turtles making their way to the roads hundreds of meters away.. Omanis are very sensitive about this issue.. One by one they carry baby turtles to the beaches. I appreciated it.
We continue walking on the beach and witness that exquisite moment. The giant tortoise, weighing almost 150 kg, found a huge area and created a depth of almost 1 meter.. He dug another hole in the back.. He does this laborious process using his hands and feet.. After the digging process is finished, it lays almost 100 white eggs from the back into the pit.
After the spawning process, she slowly throws herself forward and again using her hands, she closes her pit and leaves herself to the seas.. After 2 months, the fry, whose incubation period is over, leave themselves to the beaches.. As I said, unfortunately only 3% survive.
While witnessing this miraculous moment, I also look at the sky. Once again, I fall in love with both the miracle of this creature’s creation and the visual feast in the sky.. I love to travel and discover new places.. After our 2-hour adventure, I go back to the hotel and take a deep sleep as if I had been on the road for months and died of exhaustion.
7-Wadi Bani Khalid
The next day again. time to hit the road. This time we use the inland road, not the coastal road.. You can already think of 2 lines as the main road. One is the coastal road and the other is the inland roads with mountains.. By the way, are the roads. Have no worries.
As we leave the hotel, we cross colorful valleys, plains and mountains.. The weather is as you predicted! We’re walking on narrow roads. We pass small villages. We continue on our way by crossing high mountains and valleys.. Then we come to a village.
We get out of the car. After walking 100 meters, a view that is very difficult to describe welcomes us.. Every valley we go is more beautiful than the previous one somehow. Wadi Bani Khalid is the best.
We wander around the green water and dream from which angle to take pictures.. This is one of the rarest places I’ve ever seen.. “Swim the sea.” says Ramadan. I can’t believe it.
It turns out that everyone is swimming in the water.. I also jump into the water, but I go to the source of the water flowing into the valley.. There are no people. Quiet. I’m swimming in the calm valley looking up at the sky. Oman. How beautiful you are.
Wadi Bani Khalid takes me away with its natural beauty. Do not return without seeing this place and stay overnight if you have the opportunity.. There are hostels in the area, but I did not see a hotel.. Even if there is, I couldn’t find it on booking.com. That’s why I strongly recommend you to stay.
After waking up from a dream we never wanted to wake up from after enjoying ourselves in the valley, we are now going to our last stop, Wahabi Sands.. Now it’s time for some fun. That is Desert Safari.
8-Wahabi Sands
We deflate the tires of the vehicle before doing a desert safari.. Thus, the vehicle will be able to move more easily on the sand.. After preparing our vehicle, we hit the road. After a whole village is finished, suddenly the desert appears before us.. Crimson. The sand dunes are so beautiful! Seen from afar, all in waves.
We are crossing the hills screaming and shouting.. We have fun like children and fall in love with the desert. We salute tens of Bedouins, hundreds of camels and villagers.. “Desert safari is one of the best activities to do in Oman.” they didn’t say in vain.
I strongly recommend it to you too.. In fact, if you have the opportunity, which I have to say once again, definitely spend a night in the desert.
As for air tickets, absolutely “Best flight and train ticket sites” see my post. I wrote one by one how to make your flight ticket expenses cheaper.
We say, let’s go back to Muscat as the day is slowly ending.. On the way back to Muscat, we see dozens of oil refineries.. Oman also got its share from the oil wealth that is widespread in the geography.. Almost 75% of the economy is powered by oil. The basis of exports is petroleum.
Then we return to Muscat and spend the rest of the day in Muscat.. After 2 wonderful days, after having a nice dinner, we are returning to Istanbul with the night flight of THY with great memories and adventures.
My trip to Oman, the most beautiful valleys, deserts and stunning scenery at night The sky takes me away with its beauty.
