A Dream Island in Spain: Palma de Mallorca Travel Guide

“Imagine a place; With its untouched beauty, far from the crowds, full of happiness and peace… This is an island where palm and orange trees meet the sea, sunny almost 300 days a year, where you can feel the warmth of the Mediterranean to your bones: Palma de Mallorca (Mayorca). Don’t mind what I call an island, it’s a place big enough to compete with the city.. Frankly, before I came here, I dreamed of Mallorca as a small island that I could easily visit in a few days.. But I realized that I was wrong from the first day. There is a metro line on the island!. The distances are so far apart. Palma, Mallorca’s cultural and tourist center. Most of the island’s population lives in Palma.. Actually, there is no clear answer why I went to Mallorca when there were Barcelona, Madrid and Sevilla.. I like to explore unusual and different places from time to time, maybe this took me to Mallorca.. Good thing he did, I felt like I was renewed on this island where I spent a wonderful week.. Let’s explore Mallorca, the hidden paradise of Spain together!

How to Get to Palma de Mallorca?

There is no direct flight to Mallorca from our country.. THY has flights to Palma de Mallorca, but it also flies via Barcelona or Madrid. To go to Mallorca, we first bought tickets from Pegasus to Barcelona.. Then we went to Mallorca with Air Europa. Since our trip was in August, the Barcelona ticket was a bit more expensive than normal periods.. We paid one person 500 TL round trip. You have many options for getting from Barcelona to Mallorca.. Ryanair, Vueling, Iberia and Air Europa to name a few. We found the most suitable ticket for August from the Spanish airline Air Europa.. We paid 450 TL for a single person for a round-trip flight ticket from Barcelona to Mallorca. Ryanair is doing a lot of promotions on Barcelona-Mallorca flights. I’ve seen a departure ticket for May for 1.9 euros :). If you want to be informed about opportunities, you can follow.

It takes 3 hours by plane from Istanbul to Barcelona. Pegasus drops you off at the second terminal of Barcelona El Prat Airport (T2). You should pay special attention to this part when transferring to Mallorca, because Barcelona El Prat Airport has three separate terminals. Therefore, each airline company takes off from different runways.. Pegasus departed from terminal 2 (T2), Air Europa departed from terminal one (T1). Of course, we had quite an adventure until we found out about it.. If you have a connecting flight, don’t forget to put at least three or four hours in between.. Because your previous flight may be delayed. We didn’t have any problems with this on our way to Mallorca, but we almost missed our Pegasus flight because Air Europa was delayed for exactly 3 hours on our way from Mallorca to Barcelona, but luckily, Pegasus was also delayed to Istanbul for an hour. It was taking off, so we could catch the plane.

Barcelona El Prat Airport is very big, you can go to all three terminals by taking the free shuttles waiting at the exit gate to pass between the terminals.. It takes 15 minutes between the first terminal and the second terminal by shuttle. The only thing I don’t like about El Prat Airport is that you can’t find anyone to ask questions.. They wrote “No Question” everywhere. In such a situation, the best option is to ask the police for help, they speak English and try to help you as much as they can.

It takes only 45 minutes to fly from Barcelona to Mallorca.. You don’t even understand how the plane took off or landed with the magnificent view of the Mediterranean.. This was my first time on Air Europa and I can say that I am satisfied, not counting the delay on the return.. I don’t know if it was for us to have two seats, but it provided a comfortable flight

When to go to Palma de Mallorca?

Mallorca’s peak season, of course, is summer.. Mallorca, which has become the center of attention of the world jet society in July and August, is flooded with tourists.. However, the island is so big that the crowds do not affect you at all.. We drove to a different place every day for a week, I don’t remember even once when the traffic was heavy, I was bored while traveling.

Germans prefer Mallorca the most.. German is also spoken very well on the island.. French and Dutch also. However, unlike other countries, I have not met any Far Easterners, I guess because they are white-skinned and try to stay away from the sun as much as possible When we went to Mallorca in August, the temperature was around 35-40 degrees during the day.. However, this place has a different atmosphere, the heat is not stifling.. Normally, we had no difficulty in walking around in the heat of lunch while we were barely taking a step outside.. I think the lack of humidity is a big factor in this.. In the evenings, the weather was just as hot as the day, and it didn’t blow until the last day.. On the day we board the plane, I will never forget the pouring rain from the sky.

The sea season in Mallorca starts in May and lasts until October or even November.. I think the best time to go here is September-October.. It’s not too hot and the accommodation prices in Mallorca are reduced by half.. In the autumn period, Mallorca flight ticket prices are also very affordable. If you have the opportunity, I suggest you go in the autumn.

Where to Stay in Mallorca?

Accommodation options in Mallorca because it is a big island, there are quite a few. If you want to be in the center and reach everywhere easily, you can choose Palma.. Your expectation from your holiday is calmness. Surrounding villages such as Port de Soller, Deia, Pollença are just for you. We stayed at the Morlans Garden located in the Paguera area, half an hour from the centre.. The hotel was a two-minute walk from the beach.. The fact that our room had a sea view was a bonus for us.. We paid approximately 2 thousand liras per person for a 6 night stay, including breakfast and dinner.. The food was quite delicious, we had the chance to try different flavors as the Spanish cuisine is dominant.. Drinks were included at breakfast, but we paid extra for what we drank at dinner, water was 1 euro, beer was 2 euro.. It had a medium-sized pool and an “adult” section upstairs with a jacuzzi only accessible to those over the age of eighteen.. We were having fun here after breakfast in the morning and spending the afternoon visiting the island.. It was one of the hotels I enjoyed the most, if I go again, I would choose this hotel again.. Transportation in Mallorca

If you want to tour Mallorca from start to finish, my advice to you is to rent a car or motorcycle. Otherwise, you may have difficulty taking the bus to places outside the center, as the distances are too far.. We stopped by the car rental office called Autos Custodia near our hotel and rented a car for six days for 35 euros a day and we could only finish half of the island.. Normally, the price was higher, if you bargain, they can lower the price a little bit.

Public transportation in Mallorca is done with EMT and TIB companies.. You can see places in the center of Palma with EMT buses. Shopping in Mallorca

There are shopping opportunities for every budget in Mallorca.. First of all, I would like to point out that Mallorca is not an island with such exorbitant prices.. Accommodation prices can be expensive in some places, but the prices of eating and drinking and shopping in Mallorca were so affordable in some places that it made me forget that I was on a famous island in Europe.. If you like to drink, the first thing I recommend to buy in Mallorca is wine.. Yes, wine is pretty cheap here. You can buy Spanish wines that you can’t get enough of for only 2-3 euros.. I suggest you go to the supermarkets.. You always find the best price in supermarkets. Cheap wine prices got me back with five bottles of wine. Mercadona, Eroski City supermarkets where you can find the most affordable wines.

Spain means Sangria. Supermarkets should be your route to buy sangria.. You can buy a big bottle of sangria for just 1 euro.. You can also have fruit if you want.. The alcohol rate is so low that it’s like drinking cherry juice.. Water prices in Mallorca markets start from 0.50 and go up to 1.40euro. Beers start from 0.65 euro.

If I need to list a few of the shopping spots in Palma centre, Alexandra Rossello street comes first.. You can find the famous Spanish brands Zara and Mango, as well as the El Corte Ingles department store on the street that stretches along its length.. This is a big store where you can find cosmetics, clothing, accessories and shoes of different brands such as YKM and Boyner.

The Porto Pi shopping mall, located just across the Mallorca harbor, is one of the most famous shopping stops here. somebody. Inside, you can find stores of famous brands. Places to Visit in Mallorca

If you think Mallorca, the largest of the Balearic archipelagos, consists of only sea, sand and sun, you are badly mistaken! There are so many beautiful places and historical buildings waiting to be discovered on the island that if you want to visit them all, you need to spend at least two weeks here.. Before my trip to Mallorca, I was thinking of swimming more, I would not have thought that there would be so many places to visit.. If your goal is just to have a sea vacation, there is much more to Mallorca than that!

Palma Cathedral (La Seu/Cathedral de Mallorca)

Helping you in all its glory at the entrance of Palma Palma Cathedral also known as Le Seu One of the largest cathedrals in Europe. Our greatest luck was that we had the opportunity to visit the cathedral with the priest.. The priest showed us many places where the cathedral is forbidden to enter, with special permission, so I had the opportunity to visit the cathedral in much more detail.. Since the island was under Arab rule before the Spanish was conquered, there was a mosque inside the cathedral and prayers were held here according to the sundial at that time. had. Although the construction was finished in 1601, the renovation works started again in the cathedral, which was badly damaged in the great earthquake in Mallorca in 1851.. Famous Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi 20. He modernized the cathedral by making many arrangements at the beginning of the century.

An incredible shape was formed on the ground as a result of sunlight reflecting on the motifs of Palma Cathedral only three times a year.. On 11 November, 2 February and 11 February, long queues formed in front of the cathedral to see this shape.. It’s not over yet, it’s unclear where the red motif that appears in the middle of the cathedral every year on 23 October comes from.. I think the most mysterious of the cathedrals I visited was Palma Cathedral.

Palma Cathedral is free to enter, and on Saturdays from 10:00 to 18:15 on Mondays-Fridays during the summer period. You can visit between the hours of >10.00-14.15. You can go up to the top floor of the cathedral and enjoy the unique view of Mallorca.
