Adatepe Village; A Boutique Village in the Aegean

When you say village, many different things come to mind, but when we first went to Adatepe Village, we had no idea about this place.. However, this beautiful village at the foot of the Iz Mountains has become a place we stop by whenever we pass by after seeing it once.. We don’t even exaggerate, there were times when we made our way specifically to that side.. In other words, Adatepe village is a place we really like, but there is a fact that we do not stay here, we only stop by for 1-2 hours.. Frankly, as much as we love it, we don’t think it’s a place to spend a few days.

We may have confused you a bit actually the answer is in the title.. How do we call luxury hotels with the comfort of a home as a boutique hotel, Adatepe is a luxury place with the comfort of a village.. There is not much to do, of course, there are a few points to visit, but you can complete them all in 2 hours.. Other things to do; Sitting in the square, drinking tea, walking the streets of Adatepe and eating ice cream with herbs, that’s all.. That’s exactly why we stop by Adatepe Village.. That’s why we say don’t pass by without stopping by.

What to do in Adatepe?

While walking around Adatepe streets, you come across a stone house and you feel like you are in a Greek village.. Then you turn your back and you think that a mansion decorated with wood, this is a Turkish village for sure.. Actually, both are correct; Adatepe Village was a village where Greek and Turkish families, who were engaged in olive cultivation and animal husbandry, lived together until the Republic.. However, after the exchange or something, the population changed a lot and in the mid-1900s it was abandoned.. In the early 1980s, a group bought and restored the houses here, so we gained a magnificent village.

Of course, Places to visit in Adatepe are not just streets and houses, but still Don’t expect too much space either.. We have written below in order what we did when we came to Adatepe.

Zeus Altar

You will see the sign on the road from Küçükkuyu towards Adatepe Village, do not look for a parking lot. immediately pull your car to a suitable place by the side of the road. The Zeus Altar is free to enter, you will only walk 750 meters. At the beginning of the road, there are stalls selling local products and places to eat and drink.. However, if you are not very hungry, leave the food for later and continue walking.

What does this 750-meter road promise you? Would it be enough to say the magnificent view of the Edremit Bay? In fact, it also has a mythological story, but all the visitors come for the view.. Because you can see almost the whole bay from the Zeus Altar.. The road you will walk on is not too bad, it is a pleasant road among pine trees, but it is a bit neglected, especially if you walk with small children.

Village Square

When you enter Adatepe Village The village square welcomes you, you can park your car here.. The square has already become a parking lot, and you can easily find a place.

You can sit here, drink tea and have a small snack, as businesses that look like village coffeehouses under the plane tree will attract your attention.

Dutdibi Coffee

We generally prefer to sit at Dutdibi coffee shop. It stays on the sidelines a bit and so it’s calmer. When we come to the village after Zeus Altar, we say here for a tired tea without throwing yourself into the streets of Adatepe.

It’s a nice family business with delicious food and a friendly atmosphere.. Of course, the service is a bit slow as in most of these places, take this into account when ordering.. Leaving aside the slowness of the service, it is very nice to have manlama, herbed pancakes, ravioli and zucchini flowers at Dutdibi Kahvesi.

Adatepe Taş Mektep

A living example of the rebirth of a historical building in the light of philosophy, art and education, Taşmektepe. Maybe a bit of an assertive sentence, but the story of this school is a little different.. Adatepe Village Primary School started its education life in this building in 1947.. Education continued uninterrupted until it was closed in 1985 due to lack of students.. Afterwards, it was left idle and abandoned to its fate.

People who changed the fate of the village by buying and restoring houses, rented the school building in 1997 and saved it.. As a result, this historical building has become a school that organizes seminars and free workshops.

Taşlenenp is mostly active in the summer months, if you go during this period, be sure to attend the events here

.

Hüseyin Meral Olive Oil & Art House

A place where you can see the tools used in olive oil making, is a little above the village. If you haven’t seen such tools before, you can stop by.

If you’re thinking of shopping here or buying olive oil or something, olive milk and stuff seem like marketing terms to us.. Here is the olive oil you know, after all, the methods used for a thousand years are clear, there is no need to exaggerate, we do not split the atom.. We are just expressing our opinion, if there is an olive oil expert among us, we are waiting for you in the comments.

Zeus Ice Cream

If we wandered a little and digested what we ate, we could buy Adatepe’s famous herb ice cream and enjoy it under sycamore. By the way, Zeus ice cream’s goat milk ice cream is also really nice.

Shopping

Zeus ice cream has a few shops next to small souvenir shops where you can shop.. In fact, olive oil and products made from olive oil are sold, which you can find in many places.. Frankly, the prices are a bit expensive, but even if you don’t buy anything, you can at least stop by for a walk.

Adatepe Olive Oil Museum

An old soap factory, an olive oil production facility. It was bought by the company and arranged as a beautiful museum.. In this museum, you have the chance to see many tools used in olive oil making.

The Olive Oil Museum is free to enter.. At the same time, there is a cafe where you can sit and eat, and a store where you can buy olive oil products.. Actually, this is exactly what happened: Coming from Çanakkale direction, Adatepe is on your right, Adatepe Olive Oil Museum is on your left and you walk around a little to get to the opposite direction.. However, keep this museum in mind, if you come to Edremit by Assos one day, then you will stop by.

Adatepe Hotels

Now, accommodation options in a boutique village naturally consist of boutique hotels.. Of course, there are stone houses for rent, but they are also operated like a boutique hotel. There are not so many hotels anyway, it is enough for those who come here to stay for a long time.

Adatepe Ida Blue Hotel, 4 Greek houses were restored and built. It has a beautiful architecture and a very pleasant garden.. Pets and children under the age of 18 are not allowed.

Hünnaphan Boutique Hotel; Mansion consists of 4 different sections with different concepts as Red House, Blue House and Palmiyeli.. All departments consist of suites and standard rooms.. It is a quiet and calm hotel, and having a pool is also an advantage.

Adatepe Hotel consists of two stone houses and the number of rooms is estimated to be no more than 10.. It has a very friendly atmosphere, not only because the hotel is small, but also because the operator has a huge share.. We are not just talking about a sincerity that lowers the quality, all the staff are very caring and smiling.

Where is Adatepe Village?

Adatepe Village is located in the Ayvacık district of Çanakkale a village. Küçükkuyu is known a little more because it is on the İzmir – Çanakkale road, and Adatepe is slightly above Küçükkuyu.

How to Go to Adatepe?

Actually, as we said at the beginning of the article, get up and take a vacation. We do not know how meaningful it is to go to Adatepe for. So we don’t do it and we can’t suggest what we wouldn’t do, so never mind how to get to Adatepe; If you happen to be around Kaz Mountains, stop by Adatepe Village and take a break.. After taking a short tour of its streets and eating your herb ice cream, you continue on your way.

Especially if you come from Balıkesir and go to Assos, or if you are going to pass through the Dardanelles and descend towards the Aegean, it will almost stay on your way.. You can reach Adatepe Village from the main road in a maximum of 10 minutes.
