Where is Akyaka and How to Go to Akyaka?

Located in the east of the Gulf of Gökova, Akyaka is a part of the Ula district of Muğla. Akyaka, which is 27 kilometers from Muğla, is 36 kilometers from Marmaris and 135 kilometers from Bodrum.. You can easily reach Akyaka, which stands out with its proximity to popular holiday resorts, both by road and by air.. If you want to go from Bodrum to Akyaka like we do, there are two different ways alternatives. The first one is the Mumcular-Mazi-Çökertme-Ören-Akbük-Akyaka route that we prefer. If you want to see the most beautiful shades of blue and green along the way and go sightseeing, I recommend you to follow this route.. The journey takes about three hours. You can read my article about the places on the route here.

The other way to go from Bodrum to Akyaka is Milas-Yatağan-Muğla-Ula -As Akyaka. Although this road is a little shorter than the coastline, you reach Akyaka in 2.5 hours on average.. If you use this road, be ready to encounter a unique view of Akyaka at Sakar Pass after Ula.. Since the road is a little winding, it is useful to be careful on the descent. If you want to go from Istanbul to Akyaka by car, you can follow the direction Gebze-Yalova-Bursa-Balıkesir-Akhisar-Manisa-İzmir-Aydin-Yatağan-Muğla-Ula-Akyaka. The journey takes an average of 10 hours. Those who want to come from Ankara by car can reach Akyaka with a 9-hour journey via Afyon-Denizli-Muğla.. While Akyaka is 1 hour away from Dalaman Airport, Milas-Bodrum Airport 1.5 hours away.

When to Go to Akyaka?

Although Akyaka is a summer resort, I think it’s much more enjoyable in spring! If you are in search of calm like me, April-May, September-October are the best times of Akyaka. You can enjoy the sea before anyone else has set foot, enjoy the sun all day, and set the sun on the edge of Azmak.. In Akyaka, which welcomes us with the summer weather when we go in April, you can swim until November.. In summer, it becomes a frequent destination for surfers.. You can leave yourself in the arms of the wind and add a different excitement to your trip in Akyaka, which is one of the most ideal addresses for kitesurf with its always breezy air.. I would like to remind you that Akyaka’s evenings are quite cool.. Don’t forget to take a sweater with you, especially if you come in the spring.. Akyaka is a very small holiday town.. I recommend you to stay 1-2 nights in Akyaka, where you can even visit for a day. If quiet places are for you, if you don’t like nightlife, if you don’t want to deal with traffic problems, I’m sure you will love Akyaka.

Where to Stay in Akyaka?

Akyaka’ There are no five-star hotels. Along with boutique hotels, hostels meet the accommodation needs.. We chose Filika Boutique Hotel’ for our two-day Akyaka trip. The location of the hotel is at Maden Pier next to Akyaka Forest Camp. Surrounded by forest, the hotel was exactly as we imagined with its magnificent sea view.. Our room was very comfortable, I cannot describe the happiness of starting the day with a sparkling sea view! We paid 170 lira per night for two people to the hotel. Price includes breakfast. Prices may increase slightly in the summer months.

My favorite part of the hotel we stayed in was the breakfast! I am sure that I will not forget the breakfast we had for a long time by inhaling the smell of iodine on the tables set up by the pier.. There is nothing in the sprinkled breakfast, four kinds of cheese, olives, fried eggs, tomatoes, cucumbers, greens, jam varieties, tahini molasses, walnuts, apricots… The flavor that is engraved in my memory is olive oil.. The secret of the taste was revealed when the owner of the hotel, Ali Bey, learned that it was from olives grown in his own garden.. The biggest advantage of the hotel is that it is located in a separate bay, a little far from the center.. A complete retreat The hotel, which has a private parking lot for its guests, is only two minutes from the center by car.. Both the owner of the hotel and the staff are very interested and friendly.. If you want to listen to your head, you can choose with peace of mind. If you say you can’t feel comfortable in hotels, you can rent one of the Akyaka houses and add more comfort to your trip.. Villa Vali is one of the best options. At Villa Vali, you can rent a house on a daily or weekly basis and have an unforgettable holiday experience with your friends.. Rents at Villa Vali start from 120 lira per day, depending on the size of the house, and go up to 300 lira. Having a pool is also a big advantage. You can review the accommodation options in Akyaka here.

If you are thinking of choosing Airbnb to maintain the comfort of your home on your trip, you can create a new membership here. You can get a discount of 130 TL on your house reservation.

Find Peace in Azmak River

Enjoy your visit to Akyaka with its peaceful view Azmak River. You can reach the river in ten minutes on foot from the centre.. In the Azmak River, which is famous for its ice-cold water in summer and winter, you can capture beautiful photo frames and watch the dancing of the ducks.. Although many people breathe in the freezing water of the Azmak River to cool off during the summer months, it is normally forbidden to swim in the river.

The Azmak River, also known as Women’s River, because women came to this river to wash their clothes in the past. If you want to enjoy more, you can join boat tours. The cost of the boat tour, which takes an average of half an hour, is 10 TL. You want this peace to never end as you slowly move through the reeds in glassy waters.

There are rows of fish restaurants around the Azmak River.. Even though the prices are above Akyaka standards, if you want to have a fun evening with your friends and enjoy raki-fish, Orfoz Restaurant, Halil’s Yeri, Kordon Restaurant most preferred places. Although it was April, all the places by the river were full.. I don’t think you can find a place without reservations in summer.

Did Someone Say Sea?

After seeing the fascinating view of Akyaka at Sakar Pass, you can go to the sea. I’m sure you can’t wait to jump in! Akyaka Public Beach is one of the most ideal addresses where you can swim in the center. The beach, which has a blue flag award, is very clean.. Since the sea does not deepen immediately, if you have children, you can swim with peace of mind.. You can rent sun loungers and umbrellas for a fee at Akyaka Beach, where you can meet all your needs at the restaurants behind the beach.. The beach, which started to become popular with the opening of the season, gets quite crowded on weekends.. The sea of Akyaka Forest Camp is also sparkling. If you want to enjoy swimming among the green trees, you can stop by the forest camp at the entrance of Akyaka.

Another address you can stop by for swimming in Akyaka is Çınar Beach. Çınar Beach, which is only ten minutes away by car, merges with the ice-cold water of the Azmak River.. Leave Yourself in the Arms of the Wind with Kitesurf

The first thing that comes to mind when Akyaka is mentioned in recent years is kitesurfing is coming. One of the favorite addresses of this fun sport, also known as kitesurfing, in Turkey is Akyaka! An adrenaline-filled sport like kitesurfing in such a quiet town sounds interesting, right? The suitability of kitesurf weather conditions is very important.. Akyaka is the meeting point of kiteboarders between the months of April-October, with its location in the Gulf of Gökova, which is constantly windy! Those who say Where to do kitesurfing in Akyaka should change their route to Akçapınar Beach. Don’t worry if you’ve never done it before, kitesurfing beach has many training schools. With an average of 10 hours of training, you can add an unforgettable experience to your holiday and compare to your friends You can rent all kinds of equipment for kitesurfing from the schools on the beach on a daily or hourly basis.. Camp with Nature

It will be like a medicine to the bodies tired from the noise of the city As soon as I saw Akyaka Forest Camp, I fell under its spell! Since it is located a little further from the hotel we stayed in, I wanted to wonder and see it, I’m glad I went! I dream of camping here on my next trip to Akyaka. We need to get out of our comfort zone and integrate with nature.. Especially if we live in big cities, we are inevitably exposed to ‘concrete poisoning‘.. It is so nice to step on the ground, wash our faces in the sea, fall asleep to the sound of crickets, even for a few days… Akyaka Forest Camp is one of the most beautiful camps in our country that makes all these dreams come true.. No tent rental here, you bring your own. If you wish, you can also stay in bungalows or stone houses.. Although it is crowded in the summer, the spring period is the ideal time to relax and camp in peace.. The daily fee for camping with a tent is 40 TL.

Photograph Akyaka Houses

Akyaka’ Perhaps the most important reason why I love it so much is the lack of crooked construction.. This place is so good for your soul, which is getting tired of seeing a multi-storey building! Akyaka architecture is different from many places you see. Artist Nail Çakırhan’ has contributed a lot in making Akyaka houses so special, which were designed taking the Muğla Ula houses as an example.. Akyaka has achieved a magnificent architecture thanks to Çakırhan, who received the International Aga Khan Architecture Award with the house he designed inspired by the Ula houses.. All the houses are mostly wooden.. I’m sure you won’t be able to get enough of photographing Akyaka houses, whose chimney structures are also very interesting.. You can see the houses built by Nail Çakırhan on the street that bears his name.

What to Eat in Akyaka?

Feast your stomach with delicious seafood when you come to Akyaka. You can take a bite, or you can fill your stomach at affordable prices at the shabby restaurants in the center.. The fish restaurants lined up by the Azmak River are the most popular places here, but their prices are slightly above the average.. If you want to eat fish at affordable prices in Akyaka, you can buy your fresh fish from Akyaka Fisheries Cooperative where Azmak boat tours depart and have it cooked for 10 TL either at home or in the restaurant next to it.. I also recommend Izmir Fisherman’ in the center. Haddock between bread is very delicious, and the price is 10 TL. If you’re very hungry and don’t have much time to spare for dinner, Pizza Fellas‘s sliced pizzas are extremely appetizing! 1 slice is 6 TL. If you want to be full of olive oil, Mum’s Cook will be your favorite address;

How is the nightlife in Akyaka?

If your expectation from nightlife is to have fun until the first light of the morning, Akyaka will exceed your expectations. Since it is Cittaslow, the nightlife in Akyaka continues until 00.00, then the music leaves its place to the sound of crickets.. The most popular place of Akyaka nightlife No 22 Riders Inn. Live music performances are held at the venue, which is especially preferred by kiteboarders to have fun at night.. When the music ends at 00.00, those who leave here breathe in Deli Memet. Deli Memet, which is among the best Akyaka bars with its stylish decoration and delicious cocktails, you can enjoy chatting with your friends even though it gets quiet at midnight. Do not expect a crazy nightlife from Akyaka. If you think this much silence is too much for me, you can go to Marmaris, which is half an hour away, to have fun.

Places to Visit around Akyaka

Due to the location of Akyaka, there are many beautiful places to visit around it. alternatives available. We reserved our second day in Akyaka for Koycegiz, Dalyan and Iztuzu Beach. We came across unique landscapes on the mini tour we took for the day by car. Akyaka is 30 minutes by car to Köyceğiz, and Dalyan is 1 hour. Located between Köyceğiz and Ortaca, Yuvarlak Çay is almost a hidden paradise! I definitely recommend that you stop by.
