Best Aegean Tour Routes by Car

Let me take those who want to jump in their car and explore the beauties of the Aegean, let’s draw a route for the Aegean tour by car and calculate the cost together!

A place you can’t finish with a tour, Aegean Region. No matter how much you travel, there are still places to visit.. But okay, don’t be discouraged, you have to start somewhere. Let’s jump in our car, the uninhabited bay, let’s not leave the town. We will start our tour from the north, Çanakkale, then we will go south to warmer places and warm our bones a little.. Here you go: Aegean attractions map!

Cunda Island

1. Stop: Çanakkale

Canakkale is a very entertaining place with its history and nature.. I’m not even talking about the people. That’s why I said let’s start our Aegean tour route from here.. There are many places to see in Çanakkale in the city: Kordon, the Naval Museum, the Archeology Museum and of course the Gallipoli Peninsula and the martyrdom.. A little outside of the city, there are the ancient cities of Troy and Assos.

After driving to the important places to visit in the city, maybe you can stop for a bite to eat at a fisherman by the sea.. Fish is delicious. So are the appetizers.. They are not very cheap places, but they are not very expensive either.. You can have delicious meals for 150 – 2000 TL for two people.

2. Stop: Gökçeada and Bozcaada

Although these two islands are connected to Çanakkale, they deserve a separate day.. Indeed, even Bozcaada alone can take a day.. With the car under you, you can go to the more secluded parts of the island, to the back, have some fun and have a look at what’s around.. Or you can wander around the center street by street and admire the beauty of the island houses.. Of course, the same things apply to Gökçeada as well.

You can reach Gökçeada by ferry from Çanakkale.. For Bozcaada, you need to come a little further south to Geyikli.. That’s why I recommend you to visit Gökçeada first.

You can choose Bozcaada to spend the night.. But their prices are a bit salty. If you happen to be in the off-season, still investigate an issue. My suggestion is to find a hostel on the Geyikli side.. Or better: Seaside campsites are here. You can choose camping to both reduce the cost and enjoy nature.

3. Stop: Kazdaglari

We go south from Geyikli, pass Ezine and Ayvacik and come to Kazdaglari. I can’t finish praising this place.. They have taken many places under protection in order not to harm the natural life here and it is forbidden to enter.. But there is Sutüven Waterfall and Hasan Boğuldu Lake, even seeing them will open your heart. If you go at a suitable time, you can even enter the water.. It’s very clean and you can take great pictures.

You can spend your morning or a whole day here.. However, it would be more logical to reach Ayvalık for accommodation.

4. Stop: Ayvalık and Cunda Island

We continue on the road. Leaving Akçay and Edremit behind, we go a little further south.. Bones are starting to heat up now. Ayvalık is a very beautiful place, especially with its surroundings.. It is located on the Balıkesir – İzmir border, but we are still in Balıkesir. If you spare a few days for Ayvalık, it is the place. Because there are many villages to visit and see and eat a lot of food here.. Actually, I recommend you to tour their village.. It refreshes people with its nature and people.. Moreover, you can come across a historical artifact at any moment.

A little north of Ayvalık, there is Pelitköy, there is Karaağaç.. Gomec, Keremköy, Murateli, Mutlu Village comes right after.. There are Camoba and Karaayit a little inside.

I say spare a whole day for Cunda Island. Don’t leave Aegean shores untouched while you have a car under you.. From here, you can also see other tiny islands. It has incredible views.

5. Stop: Izmir and Its Surroundings

After you set off from Ayvalık, you might want to stop by Bergama, which is on the way to Izmir.. One of the important historical and natural spots. After Bergama, you have a 1-2 hour journey to Izmir.

If you have plenty of time, you can stop by many places on the way.. For example, there are Dikili and Aliağa. Or a little out of the way there are many beautiful villages. But no matter what, you should definitely stop by Foça.. It cannot be said that I did a South Aegean tour by car without eating mussels here!

There are so many places to visit in İzmir. You can even extend a branch to Manisa, only 1 hour between them.. Make sure to visit the peninsula, which also includes Çeşme. Go up to Karaburun. You won’t regret the sights you see.

6. Stop: Şirince

Go to a relatively dark place, away from the center and watch the sky. This is a very special place where you can see a whole universe. There are boutique hotels where you can stay, but you can also visit and finish in one day.

7. Stop: Kuşadası and Its Surroundings

We have arrived within the borders of Aydın. Kuşadası is one of the places that requires a lot of overtime.. You can spend at least one night in the center and enjoy the Kusadasi evenings.. You can explore the surrounding bays and villages.

A little south there is a national park. Be sure to go inside. Go as far as you can with your car, there is a wonderful nature here.

8. Stop: Bodrum

As you travel towards the borders of Muğla, you will come across many beautiful places: Doğanbey Village, Akköy, Lake Bafa, Didim. After crossing the Muğla border, Gürçamlar, Kızılağaç and Güvercinlik come. Even if you don’t spend a long time in all of them, I say go and breathe some of its air.

There are many places to visit on the peninsula where Bodrum is located.. Especially Gumusluk sides are far from Bodrum’s famous weather.. There are plenty of coasts to visit around here.

You can continue to car holiday route from here: There are still Fethiye, Marmaris and Datça.. The decision is yours!

I wish you a warm journey with lots of adventures! Have a nice trip!
