Cesky Krumlov Travel Guide
Places to Visit in Cesky Krumlov
A short time ago, our path was taken by the invitation of our beloved Gezimanya Ostrava. Since we went all the way to Ostrava, we wanted to rent a car on the way back and go to Cesky Krumlov, and even stay one night while we were there, after all, the trip is ours! We have had feelings for Cesky Krumlov for a long time, we finally met!
How to get to Cesky Krumlov, Cesky Things to do in Krumlov and what to do in Cesky Krumlov, we wrote it as soon as we got back! Our Cesky Krumlov Travel Guide is ready!
Cesky Krumlov is the younger brother of Prague and more of a medieval version. Unesco must have thought so, that it took the city under its protection in 1992.
We will be honest about Cesky Krumlov; originally a small town that could be beautiful, now it is occupied by Asians and your eyes are forced to see Asian tourists instead of seeing the beauties of the city.. The fact that it has become so crowded and popular has also increased the prices in the city and made the city soulless.. If nothing happens to us, we didn’t like this city very much.. It seemed like a bit of an exaggerated city rather than a fairy tale.. Still, it was nice to look down on the city bisected by the Vltava river, caesar’s right!
Still, we regret that we went and toured, as we thought that everywhere different is beautiful We didn’t.
Where to Stay in Cesky Krumlov?
Cesky Krumlov is a town that can be easily visited for a day trip. If you want, you can stay for 1 night and enjoy the second day like us.
If your stay in Cesky Krumlov comes to the summer time, it is important to book your hotel in advance because when we looked 1 week before we went, it was 99 percent occupancy.. So she says, I can’t be fuller!
We stayed at ‘Klima Penzion, which is 10 minutes walking distance from the ‘old town’ area and we were very satisfied. Accommodation in the center was very expensive, and it was already 99 percent full.. We paid 54 Euros per room per night for Air Conditioning Penzion. (1 month ago rate). Here is the link for reservation.
When to go to Cesky Krumlov?
Cesky Krumlov has a real ‘Central European’ city climate there is. The winters are cold, and the summers are warm and rainless if you’re lucky.. When you read this sentence, you may have felt as if we were going to recommend you to come in the summer, but it’s the opposite!
We went in July and as we said above, it was under the occupation of Asians.. Then, as we heard from friends who went in winter time, it is quite calm in winter.. If we had our current mind, we would prefer to travel in a cold but calmer time.. the decision is yours. : )
Transportation to Cesky Krumlov
You can come to this tiny city, which is approximately 180 km from Prague, by taking the buses departing from the Prague bus terminal, or You can also rent a car. Frankly, we do not recommend renting a car in Czechia after our own experience.
Although we rented our car from a well-known car rental company at the airport (Budget), they never acted foreign-friendly.. The highways were very bad and in a state of lock due to constant traffic. We learned the reason later, they were building a double road to Czechia too!
Parking fees in Cesky Krumlov’s ‘old town area’ are 2 Euros per hour, daily. around 8 – 10 euros. Therefore, if you decide to stay for 1 night, it is useful to check whether the hotel you choose has free parking.. Since there is free parking in front of our hotel, we at least got rid of paying the parking fee.
Bus tours are also organized from different European cities to Cesky Krumlov.. For example, we’ve seen a lot of bus tours combining the Salzburg – Hallstatt – Cesky Krumlov trio in one tour, but frankly, we don’t know if you want to get into something like this!
Places to Visit in Cesky Krumlov
The main beauty of Cesky Krumlov is in its streets. That’s why, instead of making a ‘places to visit’ list, it is best to wander the streets and take pictures.. Still, like every European city, it has a castle and a church, of course! And a few museums!
Cesky Krumlov Castle
If you have looked at the photos online before going to Cesky Krumlov, you must have seen the pictures of the city curving with the Vltava River from the top.. Here are those photos taken from this castle! The view is really beautiful. It is also the second largest castle in the Czech Republic.
It is very easy to walk up to the castle. The garden and courtyard of the castle are always open and free of charge.. Tours organized to visit the rooms and interior of the castle are not held between October and April.
Marionette Museum (Puppet Museum)
To visit in Cesky We came across this place while researching if there is a nice museum.. We didn’t go because we were a bit tired of the crowd at that time, but if you are traveling with children, you might consider it.
St. Vitus Church
Another beautiful building in Cesky. Taa 13. century old. Concerts are also held inside the church from time to time, if you are interested, you can check it out before you go.
Besides these, we spent two days walking the streets and taking a coffee break.
Renting a canoe on the Vltava River is also a very popular activity.. To rent a canoe, you pay 12 Euros for half an hour and 22 Euros for 1 hour.. It might be considered if you go in nice weather, because the views are really beautiful.
Cesky Krumlov Food & Drink Recommendations
Our biggest eating and drinking recommendation in Cesky Krumlov It will be to make an appointment at least 2-3 days in advance of the place you will go to! We called in the morning to go in the evening and everywhere but everywhere was full! Even if it was a little crazy, we were able to find a table by waiting 1 hour at the door of the place we wanted to eat in the evening.. There are those who can’t find it…
We had our dinner at Papa’s Living Restaurant’. Traditional Czech cuisine places were all full, this was Italian cuisine but we loved it. Since this place does not work with a reservation, you have to go in advance and wait in line at the door.. It has a beautiful garden by the Vltava river.. We paid 35 Euros for two main course + two beers.
Krcma u Dwau Maryi and Krcma v Satlavske Ulici, Cesky’s most popular ‘Czech Cuisine’ restaurants. The right address for those who are curious about Czech cuisine!
Deli99 and Drunken Coffee were the two sweet places we took a coffee break. Both were away from Cesky’s mad crowd.
For an after dinner drink, you can consider Apotheka Café Bar.
Cesky Krumlov is for us it was a quick weekend getaway. We think that if we loved every city we went to, it wouldn’t make sense for the cities we really love to be ‘special’ for us, so it’s good that average cities like Cesky exist!
Have a nice trip everyone!
