Datca Travel Guide and Places to Visit

I came to Datça for the first time this summer and discovered it.. If you are worried about where I will go for the first time and what to do, you should definitely take a look at my article.. We are going to Datça, where the Aegean and Mediterranean waters meet, which has become famous in recent years with its magnificent bays, are you ready now 🙂

You will visit Datça by living and digesting it slowly.. If you are in a hurry, what are you doing? They didn’t say their word in Datça for nothing 🙂 Undoubtedly, one of the corners of paradise in our country, Datça is a peninsula connected to Muğla.. There are approximately 52 large and small bays in Datça, the paradise of bays.. While some of the bays are used as beaches and there are settlements around, some of them are quiet and uninhabited.. The roads to some of the bays are quite curved and a bit difficult, so some of them do not even have land access, only by boat.. But be sure that the moment you see the view will be worth the peace.

Ingredients for peace, a pinch of thyme, a clean, clear sea and a smiling sun.. Anyone want anything more? We don’t want anything else, this calm peace is enough for us, right?. You said we don’t have any desire for each other if we mix with that sparkling sea, okay I heard Most of us know the clarity of the waters of Datça.. In fact, Datça, the pearl of the Aegean, is the most famous in this direction.. The water of the sea is so clean and clear that although the depth of the water increases, the bottom is visible.. It’s up to us to jump into this beautiful water.

The biggest factors in Datça’s being so praised and clean are; If you look at the location of Datça on the map, another factor is that it is close to the open sea because it is located at the very edge, and most of its beaches are stony and there is no sand.. Because in fact, we usually want to swim on sandy beaches so that we don’t get stones on our feet, but the sand gives the sea a blur and can make even the unpolluted sea look dirty.. That’s why the sea of Datça is always sparkling clean..

After satisfying your curiosity about the Datça coves that I admire, let’s come to explain the places to visit in Datça in detail.

List of Places to Visit in Datça

Old Datça

The old Datça district, which consists of historical stone houses, was actually the center of Datça.. Some of the houses in Old Datça are under protection and some of them have been restored in accordance with their original form.. Houses usually have one or two floors.. On the first day I came to Datça, I wanted to stay in historical stone houses in old Datça and after a short search on the internet, I found 4odaeskidatça.. I can recommend them with peace of mind, write them aside.

When I left the garden of my hotel, which is in a very central location, I found myself in the middle of old Datça.. I throw myself to your cute streets. Whether I say the cobblestone streets of old Datça chasing each other or the bougainvillea you can come across in almost every street, seeing all these together gives you such a nice feeling that you are in a fairy tale land.. It’s like it’s impossible to take a bad photo on its streets, where you can take photos at every corner, even if you don’t come out beautiful, the environment will camouflage it

Make sure to take a stroll in the charming streets of Old Datça, don’t forget to get lost in the small streets that are not too big anyway.. Don’t be afraid, you can’t get lost even if you want to because all the streets are coming together like a labyrinth.. While browsing, you will come across souvenir stalls, shabby places where you can have breakfast, pancake shops or ice cream shops.. Do not forget to support the stalls of the village women.

Sand Beach

Datça’s beach is one of the rare sandy beaches.. The sandy beach in the center of Datça is very close to the port of Datça.. Did we mention that the beach consists of sand, since it is a bit difficult to come across the sandy beach in Datça, sand lovers prefer this place.. You will see restaurants along the coast.. These businesses are starting to line up their tables towards the beach towards the evening hours.. Let me also point out that the prices of these restaurants, which are the most touristic establishments of Datça, are a bit salty.. If you want to eat fish, you can find more affordable fish restaurants in the interior, not on the beach.

Kargı Bay

Kargı Bay, which is 2 km from Datça center, attracts a lot of attention due to its location.. Surrounded by mountains, this bay usually does not get much wind, so it is among the first choices among Datça bays by most people.. You will see a small stream flowing into the sea in Kargı Bay.. The cold water coming from the stream can cool the sea a little bit, but it can be a nice experience for those who don’t like cold water like me.. You can find restaurants and businesses on the beach in Kargı Bay, the bay where fresh water and salt water meet.. Since it is very close to the center, you will not have any problems with shopping.

Haıtbükü

The distance from one end of the bay to the other is not even 1 km.. We are in Hayıtbükü, one of the small and sympathetic bays of Datça.. On the way from the center of Datça to explore the bays, you will come across Hayıtbükü, the first bay between Selimiye bays.. There are no businesses on the beach here, you need to go a little inland for hostel-style businesses.. If you do your shopping and come, it is a cove where you can have a pleasant time with the sea all day.. Since it is a small bay, the sea water can be a little warmer than other bays from time to time.. The beach is stony and free.

Ovabükü

We continue to Selimiye Bays in order. After Hayıtbükü, we see Ovabükü.. The distance between these bays, which are very close to each other, is 5-10 minutes.. In Ovabükü, which is slightly larger than Hayıtbükü, unlike Hayıtbükü, you will come across many businesses and pensions on the coast.. The beach is stony and free.

Kızılbük

You will see Kızılbük from the top at the last bend on the way to Kızılbük.. You won’t miss it, don’t worry, you will definitely see people standing. Make sure to stop here and watch Kızılbük from the top for a few minutes.. The unique view of a thousand and one shades of turquoise, created by the sun’s rays falling on it, will fascinate you.. It’s almost like a painting… After you take a picture of the scenery here, go down to the bay immediately.. Immerse yourself in the cool waters of Kızılbük. Kizilbuk is a bay that is not very small, but certainly not big, left in its natural state.. There are no businesses here. Set up your umbrella, spread your towel and enjoy this sweet sheep.

Palamutbükü

We are in Palamutbükü, the most beautiful and the biggest of the three beauties.. It’s time for the most popular of Datça bays.. You can reach Palamutbükü, which is approximately 25 km from the center of Datça, by public transport as well as by your private car.. It has the longest coastline among Selimiye bays.. Almost all roads are full of bends on the way to the bays of Datça.. On the way to Palamutbükü, the winding roads will be with you, but it has one of the easiest ways to reach..

He is the last of Hayıtbükü Ovabükü Palamutbükü trio. There are many restaurants and boutique hotels both on the coast and in the interior.. I think you can spend your holiday in a very nice way by staying here.. A place that is neither too small nor too big to get bored. You can walk from one end to the other. You can find many businesses including the market. The water is clean and not wavy.. After taking a walk among the almond trees during the day, throw yourself into the clear waters of Palamubuku.. In the evenings, you can have your meal at the restaurants along the beach and go to the center for a tour if you wish.. As in other Selimiye bays, the beach here is stony and free, the only difference is that the stones are mixed with very little sand here.

Murdala Bay

There is nothing about the business around. Are you saying you want a peaceful bay where nothing is wrong, Murdala bay is just such a bay.. To go to Murdala bay, you need to enter Cumalı village.. After driving on a dirt road for about 10 km, you will reach the quiet bay Murdala.

Ancient City of Knidos

There is also an ancient city in beautiful Datça, and it is the most beautiful city in Datça. at the endpoint. The people of Knidos really knew the business, they built it in such a beautiful place that you will understand when you see their lives.. It is both the most extreme point of Datça, the place where the Aegean and the Mediterranean meet, and a magnificent sunset view.. Let me tell you about who the people of Knidos are and what they are dealing with.. The ancient city of Knidos was originally a port city.. Since it was on the pass road, it was very convenient to be a port city due to its location..

The history of Knidos dates back to 2000 BC.. The inhabitants of this city, which is said to have been founded by immigrants from Lekadaimon, were interested in trade and art.. They gave so much importance to art that they built a theater, concert hall and agora in the city.. It is possible to see the remains of all these during your visit.. There is also a lighthouse at the farthest point of the city, the Deveboynu lighthouse.. Although the lighthouse may seem close, you have to take a one and a half hour walk.. Do not leave your return until after sunset, as there is no lighting, you may have difficulties.

What can you do in Knidos

You can swim here as well as in almost any part of Datça.. If you wish, you can bring your chairs with you and watch the pleasant sunset.. Don’t forget to do your shopping at the central location.. There is a restaurant in the ancient city, you can also use this place to eat if you wish. There is a public toilet and a parking lot in the ancient city.. The entrance fee to the ancient city of Knidos, which is 40 km away from the center of Datça, is 12 TL this year, free for those who have a museum card.. Antique city enthusiasts, what are you waiting for, I think you should definitely see this ancient city, which has started to be heard quite a lot in recent years..

Aktur

I can say Aktur is the greenest area of Datça.. A holiday area full of pine trees with high oxygen where you can take walks in nature. You will see the signs in the middle of Marmaris Datça road.. It is quite possible to find many establishments where you can stay here.. I can say that Aktur is a more sheltered holiday area, like a separate city compared to other bays of Datça.. There are two bays. There is a large camping facility here.. Caravan lovers or camping lovers can choose Aktur camping.

Karaincir Bay

The most important feature of Karaincir Bay, which is 15 km from Datça center, is that its beach consists of sand.. Karaincir, where there are slightly larger hotels rather than small boutique hotels, is not at the end of Datça, unlike other bays, but on the road to Marmaris.. You can stop by on your way out of Datça.

How I Stayed in Datça

In this section, I will talk about my own accommodation method..

The first day I stayed in a boutique hotel because the thought of road fatigue outweighed. It was an old Greek stone boutique hotel located in Old Datça.. Although everywhere was full due to the holiday, I reached my hotel thanks to a few hotel owners who helped with a little research.. Since Old Datça is very close to the center, I went for a stroll to the center after throwing my bags at the hotel.. After touring and browsing the bazaar, I visited Kumluk beach and Kargı bay, which are also in the center.. As the evening approached, I returned to my hotel after I had my dinner in the bazaar.

The second day I stayed in a car in a place with a sea view between Palamutbükü and the ancient city of Knidos.. Since I stayed in Eski Datça on the first day, I walked around the streets of Old Datça after I had my breakfast at an observatory in Old Datça on the morning of the second day.. Then I set out for the coves. I came across Hayıtbükü Ovabükü Kızılbük Palamutbükü, they are so close to each other that visiting them all can fit in one day.. After spending the longest time in Palamutbükü, I went to visit the ancient city of Knidos towards the evening.. I had heard from my friends that it would be better if I went to Knidos at sunset.. Fortunately I did it that way. After touring the ancient city, I went up a hill and sunk the day here.. On the way to Knidos, I had pulled the vehicle and had my eye on the place where I was going to stay. On the way back, I pulled the vehicle directly there and stayed here without any problems.

Third day during the day I saw the villages of Datça, the bays and Aktur. After visiting Karaincir, I left Datça towards the evening, and on my way to Marmaris Selimiye, I pulled the vehicle to a wonderful hill with sea view.. Of course, I stayed in the car again.. For the first time in my life, I stayed in a vehicle on this trip.. If you have a great enthusiasm in your mind but I wonder if I can do it with a question mark, I think you should definitely try it.. I wonder if I’ll be too far away from the hotel I’m in, you will go away and you will wake up to a different view every day..
