Dialogue in the Dark: Discover New Ways to “See”

Especially those living in Istanbul, you may have seen their advertisements, heard about it, or read it somewhere.. we were in the same situation. So much so that we took this state of awareness to a further point and searched the internet and progressed to the point of “what is this”.. As a result of an e-mail we received and the invitation that followed, we had the chance to experience this event and we wanted to share the subject with you for those who are curious.. Before we say thank you for opening this page as clean as your heart, we end this sentence here.

One of the most different and meaningful experiences we’ve been involved in recently, Dialogue in the Dark, is in Turkey. We recommend that you stop by when you have time, hoping that it will become a permanent exhibition in. We were really happy to be able to be a part of this experience, and we admired the sincerity of our guides.

What is Dialogue in the Dark?

As far as we learned while we were there, we are from Germany If we express this project from our own point of view; It is based on experiencing the symbolized urban spaces of Istanbul in a dark and huge area where you cannot even see an elephant.. But of course we do this for a reason.. So don’t think it’s one of those more fun-based organizations like “dining in the dark”. The aim is to have this experience with the help of your visually impaired guides in this huge area and to be able to approach the events from their point of view.

How Does This Work?

Sir, when you go, before you enter the area, our visually impaired friends (even after this experience and the sincerity they have established inside, in other words, our heroes) take your white canes that you may have seen before, and in the pitch dark , you dive into a labyrinth-like area. In the first place, there is a strange concern like “how am I going to do it, how am I going to do it”?. Because it is not really easy, but it is not a level of difficulty that will overwhelm you, make you feel uncomfortable, and make you say “we came here, we did it”, don’t think like that.. So much so that even if you act really nonsense when you first enter and move forward by integrating with the wall on your left, over time you start to understand something.. For example, you realize that you begin to perceive things like tomatoes and peppers in a car, ATM, bank or greengrocer that you may encounter during the experience, and you start to know the world with a different eye. , you have a very unusual experience, which includes sitting on a bench in the middle of Istanbul with your friends, going to the market, or even finding your place on the plane and making a journey, made even more realistic by sounds.

One of the most important and unexpected features of the experience is that interesting intimacy between you and people you have never met or seen before.. Apart from surrendering yourself to the hands of your visually impaired guide, there can be quite ridiculous situations as a result of involuntarily grasping the faces, heads and arms of the people you enter as a group.. When you have an acquaintance ceremony like “I’m the story, by the way” in a creek, and when you think you’re lost, you ask, “Esra, are you here?” You try to understand that you are still with the same group, and you make friends and intimacy uncontrollably.. Otherwise, you may find yourself among tourists or something because you don’t know what you’re doing in the dark, and you’re not used to the situation.

Pre-Experience Tips and Tips

-You are not allowed to insert anything that may be a source of content light. If you make such an attempt, I consider you to have “never understood” the subject.. I’m sure the people there think so too, but they’re not saying it because they’re polite.. I’ll say it for them.

-You will spend 1.5 hours inside. Adjust your time accordingly. (Of course you can if you want to go out)

-If you have read what I wrote above, I don’t think you will act like going to the exhibition with your heels on.. If you’re persistent, you’ll probably fall, I don’t know how funny it would be for you, but I personally laugh a lot when you fall.

-There is one thing you need to pay attention to about your cane, and that is not to lift it on the ground in any way.. As you get used to using it, you will realize that it really helps you tremendously.. What you see as that “just a cane” actually helps a lot in perceiving many things.

-Ask your guides whatever you want.. They are so sincere and friendly that they try to explain everything to you as much as possible without ignoring any of the questions you ask.

-Before you go inside, don’t forget to put your coat, bag and any items that might cause you trouble in the cupboards.
