The most important reason for us to move from Turkey to England is to allow our children to learn the most universal language, English, in their homeland. I wanted to write an article briefly summarizing the English education system because it is to enable them to learn.
AGE OF STARTING PRIMARY SCHOOL IN ENGLAND
In England, children start school at age 3. When I say school 1. Not in class, of course.. The class that 3-year-olds go to is called nursery, the class that 4-year-olds go to is reception and both groups are within the scope of primary school.. they are trained by wearing the same uniform with the class and older. one. Grade (Year 1, as the British call it)starts at age 5 and children are at 1 year reading and writing just like us.. they are learning in the classroom. but 1. they start school 1 year earlier than their peers in Turkey.

IS IT PRIVATE SCHOOL? GOVERNMENT SCHOOL? SCHOOL SELECTION
There are private schools in England, but the vast majority send their children to public schools.. As in our childhood, children are accepted to the school closest to their homes and they are educated there.. However, British schools are subject to a rigorous inspection by the state and are graded from 1 to 4, and they receive funding from the state in line with this degree.. You rightfully deserve the best outstanding (1st degree) or good (2. degree) you want to send your child to a school. To achieve this you need to move to a catchment area of one of these schools. As you can imagine, it is difficult to find a house for rent in these regions, and the rent of the house is high.. However, when the money given to private schools in Turkey is considered, the difference for rent is a small thing.

After you enroll your children in an outstanding school, you have the chance to go to a cheaper or nicer home further away, once registered, this is no longer questioned, but the luxury of being so close to the school and walking the children to school. hard to give up. 🙂
WHAT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED IN CHOOSING A SCHOOL IN ENGLAND? HOW TO APPLICATION?
When choosing a school, it is also necessary to consider how many students the school gives free meals to.. Because it gives information about the socio-cultural situation of these children and their families, and therefore the school.. Another issue is the rate of foreign students in the school.. Although you may think that schools with a low rate of foreign students are better, in practice it is not.. Because your child may feel different and unhappy in a class made up of all English children.. You can apply to schools from the municipality called County Council, but it makes more sense to contact the schools you target directly and apply.. Because if the school you want your child to attend is a school with high demand and full quota, the municipality rejects you and directs you to a lower grade school.. However, if you apply directly to the school, the school puts you in line on its own list, and you can be admitted to the school by prioritizing according to the proximity of your home to the school, as soon as the availability occurs. IS IT ADAPTABLE? DO THEY HAVE TO ATTEND THE COURSE BEFORE?
No not required. So schools say they don’t need. Children attend the same classes with the others, if they feel inadequate, they are supported by being taken to a separate class for special reading and writing lessons from time to time.. Teachers are very involved. At the end of the day, they go out to the garden with the children and give information to all parents who want to talk one by one.
Children who started primary school in Turkey attend the class that corresponds to their age when they come to England.. For example, in Turkey 1. When a 7-year-old boy who has finished the first grade comes to England, his peers are 3 years old.. 2 for passing grade. not from class, that’s 3. continues from the classroom.
HOW LONG DO CHILDREN LEARN ENGLISH?
Children do not understand much of what is spoken at the beginning, but the teacher does not understand this. He knows and approaches accordingly.. Children are also very humane towards foreign children, as the UK is one of the least racist countries.. Many even go to great lengths to help the new student.. At the end of an average of 6 months, 1 year, the child comes to a level where he/she can easily express himself/herself in English. At the end of 2 years, children have a fluent English, depending on their tendency to learn languages.
HOW CAN I SUPPORT CHILDREN WHO SHOULD SPEAK ENGLISH?
The speed of learning English and starting to speak can vary from child to child.. Some children refuse to speak even though they are beginning to understand what is being said. CAMBLY, which is a speaking learning program for these children, is very useful. In this program, children have the opportunity to chat online one-on-one with native English speaking instructors.
Click for the details of CAMBLY KIDS, where you can get great support in helping children become fluent in English.
ARE THE CLASSES AT SCHOOLS DIFFICULT IN ENGLAND?
ARE THE CLASSES AT SCHOOLS DIFFICULT IN ENGLAND?
The education system in general is not very challenging either.. So there is discipline but the curriculum is not heavy. Children are divided into three or four groups according to their capacities, both in language lessons and in mathematics.. Each group deals with different topics and has different assignments.. Switching between groups according to their success. Success is always appreciated. Failure, on the other hand, is not spoken of much, but affirmed with words such as ‘it was a good try’.
WHAT ARE OTHER SOCIAL ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN?
Families attach great importance to sports and artistic activities. Children participate in swimming, football, gymnastics courses to a great extent, and they are directed to instruments such as piano, guitar. Even within the school, swimming courses are held from time to time.. Running clubs are quite common. Children run both after school hours and by joining clubs outside, and they grow up very prone to sports.. Formations such as scouting, puppy in our childhood are quite common here.. Girls between the ages of 5 and 7 participate in “girls guiding” clubs called “rainbows” and girls over 8 years old are called “brownies” for a small fee once a week.. The club where children over the age of 8 join together, girls and boys, is called “cubs”.. The presence of activities such as excursions and camping in the spring and summer makes these organizations very attractive.
DOES SCHOOL EXPENSES INCLUDE TOO?
No. There is little to no. Public schools do not even receive a contribution from you.. Even school books and notebooks are provided by the school.. School uniforms are sold at very affordable prices in our Carrefour and Migros-style big markets such as Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury.. 3. The state pays for the lunch given at school until the first grade.. 4. As of class, you have to pay an amount of around £2 per day for lunch.
The information I have gained about the British education system and my short-term observations are summarized as follows:. See you in my long-term experience sharing…
