Evcik Beach; Çatalca, A Natural Wonder in Karacaköy

The Evcik Beach, located in Karacaköy, one of the numerous villages of Çatalca, the greenest district of Istanbul, is also known as Karacaköy Beach. It is a beach that we prefer especially because it is secluded.

Evcik Beach, like the other beaches in Çatalca, offers not only sand, sea, sun and forest.. There is a historical pattern, there is a cultural pattern, and you even have the chance to know a very different type of monster.. We are talking about mosquitoes.. Is the monster too much?. Or should we say vampires blessed with sin-kov?.. But are you saying you exaggerate?. Let’s not lie, we heard this word a lot, but the result did not change.. If you only knew how many brave men were wasted on Evcik beach; Those who pack their tents at 10 pm and run away, those who sit in the car or tent for hours, those who sit in the sun in jeans. Especially sitting in jeans is the funniest, because they don’t prevent flies, they bite on it..

Don’t get me wrong, we don’t have a problem that no one leaves so it’s up to us.. We’re just trying to warn you, otherwise go, we’re going here with pleasure.. The important thing is to know when to go, where to set up the tent if you are going to camp, and what to pay attention to.. We have explained our experiences below, if you consider what we have written, you can have a great time at Evcik Beach.

Beach

It is a quieter beach than other Çatalca beaches, as part of the road is dirt.. If you go in the summer though, don’t expect it to be empty. Since Evcik Beach is wide, there is no shortage of space on the beach even at the busiest time, but there is limited parking space, we can say that this is the biggest problem.

Entry to Evcik Beach is free, shower and toilet there was but it was removed, it was not in use in the past anyway. The sea is the Black Sea you know; very wavy and deepening fast. The beach is beautiful with its fine sand, but unfortunately there is a lot of garbage.

We love this place in spring and winter.. Because there are no flies in these months, mosquitoes are a real problem in summer.. If you come anyway, if you don’t go to the forest side during the day, you can get away with small bites, but in the evening you have no place to escape.

Campground

There is no business or a specific camping area here.. However, it is a very nice place where you can camp alone with nature.. Only the number of places to set up tents is few, and the place to park a caravan is even less.. It is quite calm in the spring, but if you come in the summer and cannot find a place, you can find quieter places if you go towards Yalıköy by dirt roads.. Of course, in any case, you have to take the risk of mosquitoes or go prepared.

If you ask us, evcik beach is one of the best options among free camping areas in Istanbul for spring, not summer.. First of all, having water is a big advantage, but other than that, nothing else.. You have to go to the village for shopping.

Anastasius Walls

Did you hear that there was a city wall that started from the Black Sea and continued to the Marmara Sea during the Byzantine period? The history of the Anastasius Walls, which was also known as Terkos Castle in the Ottoman period, dates back to 1500 years ago.. It was a weak wall because it was too long and it was tried to be finished quickly.. For this reason, it has almost disappeared until today, there is no place to go and visit.. However, if you see very small fragments of walls and foundations on the way from Karacaköy to Evcik beach, know that these belong to the Anastasius Walls.

Georgios Church (Evcik Church)

Anastasius Walls’ The Georgios Church at the northern end of the building is slightly more preserved than the walls.. Of course, it is still in ruins, but at least it is clear that there is a building.. It is very close to Evcik Beach, you can take a short stroll to take a walk and see the church.

How to Get to Evcik Beach?

Before answering this question, ask where is Evcik Beach? It’s good to answer. Karacaköy lies exactly between Yalıköy and Ormanlı Köyü. Evcik Beach is a beach located approximately 7 km from the center of Karacaköy.

The distance between Istanbul and Evcik Beach is 100 km, so it is not that close.. However, new roads have made transportation a little easier.. If you live on the Anatolian side or close to the Bosphorus, come directly to Kestanelik village by using the Hasdal road, and from there; You can reach it by passing the villages of Çanakça, Dağyenice and Ormanlı.. Even if you live a little west of Istanbul, it would be more logical to come via Çatalca.. From Çatalca, respectively; You can reach Karacaköy by passing the villages of Subaşı, Akalan, Kalfaköy, Başakköy, Çiftlikköy and Belgrade.. After arriving in Karacaköy, Evcik Beach signs will appear in front of you.
