Happy New Year: 2012

I woke up in the morning with noises. It looked like someone was carrying empty drums. Last night, I set up my tent on a hill towards the morning.. What could it be here! I didn’t care too much. When I got out of my tent around 10 am, I realized what had happened.. It turned out that I set up the tent, and when I wake up, I will realize that it has a magnificent view, this is the place where the New Year’s fireworks will be launched tonight!

However, I thought it was an old rice field, because of its terrace-shaped appearance.. There were dozens of fireworks launch pads around me. The place with a tent is empty. Nobody said “you can’t set up a tent here, we need this place, get in the galkta”, they didn’t even wake me up.. We looked at each other and smiled at the workers working there.

My tent turned to the wire under my seat and I had my breakfast.. Bekran must have been sleeping. Somehow it just occurred to me. Yesterday we bought a boat trip around Koh Phangan to see some beautiful places on this last day of the year (550THB, 32TL). They would come and pick us up from the hotel within minutes.. I went for a jog and woke up Bekran, ate my breakfast quickly, and jumped into the oncoming vehicle and arrived at the small pier where the boat tour would depart.

I was expecting the boat to be packed, but since it was the last day of the year, there were only 7 of us.. It was cloudy too. We didn’t take our camera with us because it was raining.. However, we wanted to dive in Koh Tao, which has a beautiful sea, famous for its corals and variety of fish, but we gave up when the owner of the diving school told us that the underwater visibility was not good due to the season.. I’ve been sleep deprived for four days of nonstop partying. I spent a lot of time sleeping on the boat.

And the expected day came on New Year’s Eve.. We watched the local Thai dance while we had a scrumptious buffet dinner at the hotel.. To adapt to the night, we painted ourselves with the paints we bought and went out.. In order to see the Haad Rin beach, where we will spend New Year’s Eve, from the top, we went up to the hill where I set up my tent yesterday and took pictures.. The officers at the head of the fireworks set up here were ready to fire as soon as the new year entered.

We went down to the beach at around 22.30.. The whole beach was flooded from one end to the other, there was almost no place to step.. There were not only those who stayed on Koh Phangan, but also those from the surrounding islands who flocked to the party by boating.. It is said that around 50,000 people will attend the party.. The crowd increased with each passing hour.. When the clocks showed 12, we watched a magnificent fireworks show and then we just had fun. with you. There were especially 2 people who were completely naked.. Someone came like that and jumped on the flaming rope in applause.. Everyone was each other’s friends, a few minutes after you said happy birthday to each other and started talking with someone you don’t know, you turned out to be best friends, you were dancing like crazy together.

It was dawn when we got back to the hotel.. I went to the sun lounger in the hotel pool and slept.. I didn’t sleep much when I woke up again from the noises and threw myself on the beach again. I wasn’t expecting much of a crowd, but there were still thousands of people on the beach.

As the day lightened, the sand of the beach appeared to be filled with thousands of liquor bottles, buckets and straws.. One of my flip-flops broke during the night’s entertainment.. So I found someone suitable for my feet and spent it.. When it was 10 in the morning there were quite a few people on the beach snoozing and sleeping on the sand. Some of them had passed out from drunkenness, and some had come from other islands and preferred to sleep there instead of paying ragged money and returning to their hotel at that hour of the morning.

Last year at this time, I entered Queenstown, New Zealand, which is known as the capital of adrenaline in the world. Now, in the tropical climate, I welcomed the new year with a crazy party.. Happy New Year to all. Even if there is no good news from the country, I hope it will be a good year for everyone.
