Taiwan, which more than 150 countries do not recognize as a COUNTRY, is actually dependent on China, but it seems a little separate from China.

Does Taiwan Require a Visa? : Taiwan visa can be obtained immediately from the airport free of charge

This plan was made based on my experience and observations.. You can shift the days whether you want; If you want, you can do the accelerated program, of course.

1. Day Taipei Attractions

  • Taipei Zoo
  • Maokong
  • Linjiang night market

I, Taipei’ I thought I’d actually make a 3-day plan for places to visit.. Afterwards, I decided to visit other cities close to Taipei.

The first day I got up early in the morning.. Today, I want to go to Taipei Zoo and take the famous cable car tour from there.

Taipei Zoo : Taipei places to visit

By the way, don’t look at me when I’m describing this trip as if I went alone.. I will be with my brother Şafak Pehlivan and my cousin Serkan Biçer.. If you’re ready, our trip to Taipe begins.

Taiwan currency : Taiwan dollar. 1 US dollar is worth 29 Taiwan Dollars

Taipei Zoo

Taipei Zoo, which is a must-have in Taipei, is not actually a zoo; It is actually a giant park carefully separated in the forest you know.

  • Entry Fee: 60 Taiwan Dollars
  • Transportation: Taipei Zoo Subway Station

The zoo is so big that it takes at least 4-5 hours to visit it.. Keep penguins inside; Many creatures, from giant rhinos, gorillas, and pandas, are carefully fed and protected.

After walking around this beautiful park for 3-4 hours, mingling with Taiwanese people taking their children out, I go to the famous Maokong Cable Car on foot.

Maokong

This cable car is not your ordinary crappy cable car you know.. Passing over the lush green forest of about 4 kilometers; It ends at the last stop, Maokong.. If you ask me, it is a must-have in Taipei.

Maokong Cable Car : You witness such beautiful views.

Before traveling with the Maokong cable car, let me give you 2 very important warnings:

Absolutely but definitely do this activity when there is plenty of daylight.. Also, when you get on the cable car, you will see 2 rows.

One will be longer. Here’s the long one wait. Because you can enjoy the view by gliding over the trees (whatever it is called) from the glass under the rooms in that cable car.

We went by the normal cable car and reached Maokong after almost dusk.. It was dark when we arrived.

After wandering around Maokong for a bit, we took a taxi back to the subway station, paying 60 Taiwan Dollars per person.. That’s why I say you should definitely make this trip early.

Taipei markets: Who knows what is written on that board! : Places to visit in Taipei

Also, another suggestion for you; if you will use both metro lines in the same day; If you’re also going to take the Maokong cable car, get a bundled Easy Card.

So the cable car round trip fee, the zoo entrance, and the subway all day are free. But as far as I remember, it cost 350 Taiwan dollars.

  • Entry Fee: 120 Taiwan Dollars
  • Transportation: Maokong Subway Station

Linjiang Night Market

In the evening, we went to the famous Linjiang night market because it was close to our hotel.. You can actually see these markets all over Taipei.

Taiwanese love to be on the streets at night.. Just like us, they come to our house in the evening and brew tea, and they don’t have the fun. /blockquote>

That’s why people spend time in these markets and squares. In the markets, various kinds of fruit; stalls where you can see hundreds of local dishes; You can see dozens of shops.

Like in the movies, actually. You feel like you are trying to figure out where you are in the middle of the chaos while you are walking around.. I am sure you will admire the markets.

2. Day Taipei Places To Visit

  • Ximending District
  • Lungshan Temple

Ximending

Taipei as 2 main regions let’s think. The eastern part is New Taipei, the western part is Old Taipei.

Here is Ximending, or Shi-men Ting (Şimentig), one of the old districts of Taipei.. This is an old district and this is the real Taipei neighborhood.. In fact, one of the city’s biggest night markets is set up here in the evenings.

In Taipei, in Ximending, one of my favorite areas, I go to a place called Q time, like an internet cafe & bookstore.. Why?

Ximending district (pronounced Şimentig): Places to visit in Taipei

Because this is 24 a place open around the clock. You can rent movies and watch movies in their rooms; You can read a book if you want.. I wanted to tell you about this beautiful place that caught my attention because I’ve only seen it in Japan before.. I say you should definitely stop by.

By the way: I suggest you to read my travel articles on Japan from the link Japan

Today will be a very busy day. , we will see almost 10 different regions. That’s why I will tell you all of them one by one as a route below.. You can reach most of them on foot.

There are hotels in Taipei for $10 per person per night.. I took it as a list. click to review

Lungshan Temple

There are 2 important religions in Taiwan: These are Taoism and Buddhism. Here is one of the most important temples of Taoism, the Lungshan temple.

By the way, Taoism is actually; known as the meanings we give to objects and concepts.. But the most important thing is our desires and wishes, the values we impose on them.

Life in Taiwan : Taiwanese people are incredibly friendly

Actually, they believe that the human body contains all the Gods in the universe.. The statues that appear in the temples are actually known as the masters of this religion.. Also ;

  • Clerics (They have priests)
  • Meal regimes can be applied
  • Being humble and good is one of the greatest goals

Some believers believe that God can be with them as a symbol (Sculptures, etc.) or that they should pray. In fact, in this religion, there is more than one god.. Like God of War, God of Good. I thought I’d touch on this part a little bit.. By the way, they also have a holy book. Name: Tao and Virtue.

Tao is known as the creator in the eyes of believers

As I mentioned above: There are different gods in Taoism religion. Even when you enter a temple, you can see that different gods are in different rooms.

I don’t want to pass without mentioning an event that caught my attention the most in this temple: Praying people, after holding 2 different pieces of wood in their palms, suddenly fell to the ground.

Lungshan Temple in Taipei: Places to visit in Taipei

Both sides of fallen trees are different from each other different. As soon as these trees stand on the ground, if both sides are different from each other, then the person who threw those woods on the ground can pray.. He cannot pray, thinking that if he does not come, his god will not accept his prayer.

I have never seen such faith before.. I was a little surprised to see it, and then I learned from Ömür that his answer was like this.

  • Entry Fee: No
  • Transportation: Lungshan Metro Station

Bopiliao Historical Block

After exiting Lungshan, just 200 meters away, we go to this historical site, which is inspired by the historical Taiwanese periods.

Bopiliao Historical Block

This is a small place where there are cute tile houses and even movies were shot many times. It’s not that enchanting, but we stop by because it’s on the way.

Taipei Botanical Garden

Taipei, even all of Taiwan, is a very green geography.. There are dozens of parks even in Taipei alone. One of them is Taipei Botanic Garden.

Taipei Botanical Garden

This botanical garden is right on our walking path. no entrance fee. The inside isn’t very bright, to be honest.. Especially the lilies are very weak. But it’s a place to stop and take a rest.

National Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial

I said Taiwan is a country dependent on China.. But I said they say they are from another country.

Here is the man who started this adventure, that is, this brother Chiang Kai Shek (pronounced Chiang Kai Shek.)

National Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial

This person, who was the head of the Chinese Nationalist Party in 1925; both politician and soldier. In 1928, he established a nationalist government in Nanking, the capital of that time in northern China; He even led this party for 20 years.. In this period, the current Taiwan was established, but Taiwan is still not recognized by more than 100 countries.. That’s why I said whether Taiwan is a country or not!

Yongkan Street

There are dozens of neighborhoods in Taipei.. One of them is Yongkan.. This area also has a wonderful street.

Yongkan Street Taipei

Quiet, with almost no traffic a quiet place. Not to mention dozens of cafes and restaurants in the area.. I’m in love here. If you want to do both shopping and wandering around, I highly recommend it.

Daan Forest Park

Daan park, in the heart of Taipei, is Taiwanese’s Central Park. I actually. In the middle of the huge park, there is a peaceful and beautiful lake.

Daan Forest Park

The public, especially flock to this park with their children on weekends; He used to enjoy music concerts on the stage set in the middle of the park.. what shall we say. Millet for us…

Guanghua Digital Plaza

Now I’m starting to get tired little by little. As I am leaving Daan Park, I am breathing in this technology market.

Taiwan is one of the richest countries in the world with a per capita income of 36,000 USD.. The country where brands such as Acer, Asus and HTC were founded.

There are so many electronics stores in Taiwan !

<

I’m going to this market suggested by Ömür on technology. Don’t mind me saying it’s Sunday. My husband is actually a shopping mall that sells technological products.

By the way, Ömür is a Turkish fan, a Turkish-speaking Taiwanese brother.

Prices are 20-30% in our opinion. more economical. Whatever product is the latest model in the world, it is sold both in this place and in the building right next to it.. I’m sure those who are interested in technology will not leave this place.. But a warning: Many products may not have a guarantee in Turkey.. Be sure to ask before you buy.

Huashan 1914 creative park

I couldn’t go to this park because it was evening. But if you want to stop by, I wanted to write it as a note here.

There are so many nice cafes in Taipei

I don’t know what to say if I say Taipei’s Karaköy but; a region where especially the young people hang out and which is especially famous for its art galleries and cafes.. “Especially if you come across a nice weather, it is absolutely necessary to walk the streets of this region comfortably!” Ömür said.

ADD Fish Market

I’m going to ADD Fish Market, one of the best places to eat fish in Taiwan.

Now when you say fish, you think of such a smelly fish market.. But don’t come !

This is actually a very modern market, restaurant and business.. Giant crabs of 20-30 kilos were kept in pools; hundreds of kinds of fish are sold in stalls; Those who want can buy seafood in the market section; a place where it can be tasted on the tables right at the door.

ADD fish market : Places to visit in Taipei

We, first we paid 300 Taiwan dollars for sushi and sashimi from the market part. Afterwards, we ate sushi at the restaurant and the price was 600 Taiwan Dollars.

You can choose fish if you wish; You can have the fish of your choice cooked at the restaurants at the entrance.. The average price of fish is 500 Taiwan Dollars.. You have to pay an extra 10% price for cooking and serving.

Xintiang Temple

We stop by this temple on the way from ADD Fish Market to the subway.. It turns out that this is one of the most important Tao temples in Taiwan.

Xintiang Temple : Places to visit in Taipei

I end the day by feeling the smell of incense burned by hundreds of people praying, especially in the evening, and listening to the screams of children running around me.. By the way, I can’t help saying it again: Taiwanese are one of the 5 most respectful societies I’ve ever seen.

3. Day Taipei Attractions

Today, I will travel a little bit west of Taipei. At the same time, I will include the country’s most important museum and night market on my route.

  • Confucius Temple
  • Dalondong Boaon Temple
  • Dadaocheng Dock
  • Dadaocheng
  • National Palace Museum
  • Shillin Night Market

Confucius Temple

Confucius Temple as I jumped on the subway’ I’m going to but it’s closed. Why ? That’s why many temples are closed on Mondays.. FYI…

  • Entry Fee : No
  • Transportation : Yuanshan Subway Station

Dalondong Boaon Temple

Confucius This temple, which is located right across the temple, attracts my attention.. This is a Tao temple that is open every day.

Many people in Taiwan believe in Buddhism and Taoism.. Dalondong Boaon Temple

There is a Buddhist temple right behind it.. They said that in Taiwan, everyone practices their religion freely.. Two temples side by side confirm this…

Dadaocheng Dock

After crossing the narrow streets, I want to take a walk by the river.. This is a small dock from which the Tamsui river flows.

But there is also the Dadaocheng district just ahead.. This is one of the oldest districts in Taipei.

Dadaocheng

I smile looking at the street signs in Chinese and the warning signs on the ground.. Maybe from happiness, maybe “What kind of language is this, friend?” surprise.

I wouldn’t be lying if I said there is a temple in every neighborhood in Taipei

Imagine, it’s not the alphabet. Chinese, a language consisting mostly of symbols and pointers. I will address it in more detail in a separate article anyway.

Dadaocheng is an ancient region.. It is a wonderful neighborhood with narrow streets, cute shops, and 2-storey tiny houses made of tile.

After visiting the markets and shops in this beautiful neighborhood, I paid 120 Taiwan Dollars for 1 coffee and 90 1 cake at a cafe called JIIA and took a rest. .

National Palace Museum

According to what they said, after China claimed that more than its historical artifacts were preserved in this museum; I jump on the train, first get off at Shillin station; I take the bus from there to reach its famous museums.. Entry is 350 Taiwan Dollars.

There are so many places to visit in Taipei. You can easily reach every point by using the Internet

There are 700,000 works in the museum. Of course, they don’t show all of them.. Thousands of years old letters, parchments, household items made of ceramics, clothes and more are exhibited in this museum.

The museum is very well preserved and immaculate.. It was built by adhering to Taiwanese culture in terms of design.

I am ending this day after visiting the museum for about 3 hours.. Now I’m going back to meet with Ömür and visit the famous night market.

  • Entry Fee: No
  • Transportation: Shillin Metro Stop and Bus 815

Shillin Night Market

We are going to Taiwan’s biggest night market with Life. Thousands of stalls set up in hundreds of streets, every kind of food & beverage you can think of in these stalls.

Shillin night market is known as Taiwan’s largest night market.. The market, which is a little outside of the city, can be reached by metro.. At 8 o’clock in the evening, benches were set up; All the streets are very lively until 2 am.

Taipei markets: Who knows what is written on that billboard!

In this market, there are not only stalls, but also regular shops, shops and restaurants around. I’m sure the ladies will especially like it.

  • Entry Fee: None
  • Transportation: Shillin Metro Stop

Jiufen Places to Visit

While I was researching on the internet, among other cities to visit in Taiwan besides Taipei, I saw the name many times; I want to go to Jiuefen, Taiwan’s Santorini.

Jiufen was famous as one of the richest regions of the country, thanks to the gold mines in the region until the 1950s.

Getting to Jiufen is quite simple

These mines were closed down afterwards. Since the city was built on the slope of the mountain, it tried to survive with tourism.. The men said, “Our landscape is more valuable than our gold.” they managed to attract tourists from all over the world to this beautiful region.

If you ask how to get to Jiufen; There are trains departing from Taipei Main Station. But these are not MRT trains; TRA, intercity trains.

Take one of these trains to Ruifang.. Get off at the last stop. Then cross the road to the bus stops and take the Jiufen bus. You will already see the crowd. By the way, the train fare is 100 Taiwan Dollars; the bus fare is 15 Taiwan Dollars.

As for Jiufen, I realize that there is not that many places.. They have one main street. All the shops and stalls are set up on that street.. While you’re here, you can see the old mines if you wish.

Jiufen is such a place

Also, here is Jiufen There is a cafe called Tea House. Not just Jiufen; It is also one of the oldest tea houses in Taiwan.. In fact, the inside is also a museum.

Cups, plates and pots that describe the richness of the tea culture from ancient times to the present are exhibited free of charge in this museum, but drinking tea is quite expensive.. How much? The cheapest tea is 600 Taiwan Dollars!

Because I find this figure very expensive, I prefer to give 230 Taiwan Dollars for tea and cheescake pair at Shanhaiguan Tea House, which is located on the same street and fascinates me with its wonderful view.

Tea House in Jiufen

After walking around this beautiful area for half a day, I am now on the train.

By the way, if you come this far, I suggest you also go to Pingxi and Shifen Waterfall.. I couldn’t go because I didn’t have enough time.. I definitely recommend it to you.

Places to Visit in Yehliu Geopark

Ömür’s “The sea is a very beautiful park in Taiwan. I don’t have work tomorrow if you want. I can take you there.” We don’t break his invitation and say let’s go to the famous Yehliu Geopark, located in the easternmost part of Taiwan.. Here we take the bus from this bus stop and come to this region, which is 1 hour away, by passing through the lush forests.. By the way, I’m not exaggerating. Everywhere is forest in this country.

Beautiful Beach in Yehliu Park

I freeze the moment we arrive at Yehliu. “Hey Life.” I say. “Have we come to another country?” I ask jokingly.

“This is the east of the island now.. Beyond Here Japan. An area with constant winds. That’s why there are fairy chimneys like yours in Cappadocia!” I’m neither cold nor shivering.

After passing the fishermen at the entrance of the park one by one (By the way, my mind is still stuck on those huge crabs and lobsters.), we pay the park entrance fee of 60 Taiwan Dollars.

After rushing to the area, I finally see the fairy chimneys. But I don’t have the language to say fairy chimney.

Yehliu Park Fairy Chimneys

Also, with this region I want to tell you something about this: When we came here, we didn’t really enjoy the weather conditions.

It was very, very cold.. That’s why, according to Ömür, this region would be very beautiful, especially in spring and summer.. Just so you know.

After walking around the park for 1 hour and freezing, we are enjoying a beautiful fish-shrimp-squid trio from the fishermen right at the exit.. But these are pretty expensive.. You can’t get enough of less than 700 Taiwan Dollars per person. Why?

Because this is a very touristic place.. Also, when cooking your food, make sure you cook it without sauce.. Because their sauces are very, very different from our taste.

Yehliu Park Taiwan

A delicious meal with pleasure After eating, we end our trip today and travel back to Taipei for 1 hour.. The tiredness of your 25-day travel is now starting to be felt slowly.

Where Else to Go in Taipei?

I have summarized each and every place I have visited so far.. In fact, there were many more. Like the Taipei 101 building, for example.. 2nd tallest in the world. It was necessary to pay a full 600 Taiwan dollars to go to the building.. I’m not someone who likes to spend money on such things. If you want, you can visit the 91st floor of this famous building.. You can see the whole Taipei view from its floor.

Taipei 101 building. 3 tallest in the world. building themselves

Also, there is a huge park called Yangmingsan National Park. You can also go for a walk here and get lost in nature.

However, you can take a walk on Elephant Mountain, one of the most popular green mountains of the city, and watch Taipei from the top.. I definitely recommend you to take time for this trip, especially on a sunny day.. I couldn’t include it in my route because it coincided with winter.

Where to Stay in Taipei? What are my Hotel Recommendations?

I stayed at 2 different hotels in Taipei. These were the Relax hotel and Shangri-La.

Shangri-La is already a high-end, rather expensive hotel.. I guess I don’t need to tell you too much. If your condition is good, you can stay with your eyes closed.. The rooms were also extraordinary.. What can I say, I was very satisfied in terms of rest after Philippines.. click to review

Taipei is a highly developed capital city. When the economy is good, some things are also good.

The other hotel was the Relax hotel in Ximentig district, 5 minutes from the metro.. In such a beautiful hotel, you can stay for 2 people for 200-250 TL.. It is one of the middle class hotels that I can recommend with peace of mind.. click to review

However, there are much more budget hotels or hostels in Taipei. I also made a list of them.. You can stay for 2 people for 100 TL per night.. click to take a look

DO NOT GO BY READING: My other articles from TAIWAN will also help

Taiwan, especially Taipei, has been a country that I highly appreciate with its places to visit, great street food to taste, astonishing order and respect.. After seeing and admiring countries like Japan, Singapore, Taiwan is also what I can recommend as “Respectful and country-like country.” got on my list. I hope you guys have a nice Taiwan trip too.. Imagine. Think about it…
