Kotor with Labyrinth Streets

It’s 08:30 in the morning and we rent a car from Budva for 35 Euros per day. About 50 km from Budva to Kotor. After crossing a long tunnel, we are in Kotor.

The beginning of Kotor is at the very end of the Herzeg Novi fjord.. It has a magnificent nature and a magnificent view.. A region with a castle and old town like in a fairy tale. While people are living their daily lives in the old city, it is a different pleasure to walk among them and mingle with them.

A large courtyard welcomes you at the entrance of the old city in Kotor.. Kotor’s old town is made up of labyrinthine streets. Renovations and restructuring continue at full speed here.. A clock tower and cafes that stand out first in the square…

We all have the same feeling while wandering around the side streets.. It’s as if a knight will come out of the corner… Inside, local dressed girls and boys are performing shows telling about the old times.. We come out to a square with three churches. There are many cafes around.

We start climbing with other tourists from a steep slope to the top of the mountain.. Just at the beginning of the road, you see that an uncle has set up a table in the middle of the path, taking money from those who go up and issuing tickets.. We pay 5 Euros per person and continue on our way.. Climbing broken and shattered stairs to the top. As you go up, the beauty of the city and the fjord begins to dazzle more and more.. We reach the top after a long climb.. There is a small church on this hill. Here, like other people, we sit on one or two rows of stairs at the entrance of the church to rest.

Here we were more impressed by the view than the church.. There is a wonderful view of the city and the sea, a cruise ship docked at the port completes the square.. Some are taking pictures against the scenery, some are watching the horizon with binoculars in their hands.. But every person who goes up the hill must first sit down and breathe on these stairs.. When you go a little further up the hill from here, there is a monastery-style building in ruins.. Obviously, it is waiting to be repaired like many other buildings in the city.

It takes about 1.5 hours to go up and down the hill.. When we got down from the hill, we went to the square with three churches and sat in one of the restaurants here.. There is pizza, squid stuffed with cheddar and fried chicken on the menu, and we paid a total of 28 Euros for 1 liter of house wine in a jug.
Without getting enough of Kotor, we set out to go to Sveti Stefan.
