Last Day in Fiji: Capital Suva

Fiji’s capital, Suva, is the largest city in the country with a population of around 100,000. There are Suva City Library, Government Building, Albert Park and Holiday Inn Hotel and many shops and restaurants on Victoria street in Suva.. After Albert Park, I entered Thurston Garden, with lots of coconut trees and a few different kinds of trees, but nothing else.

I entered the Museum just behind the Clock Tower in the park.. The entrance fee is 10 FJ$, I said I was a student, showed my ISIC card that I got while in New Zealand and paid 5 FJ$.

I only came to The Beach House for two nights, but stayed for 5 nights.. I spent 5 very enjoyable and relaxing days in this place, which I love very much, with a magnificent sea and beach, coconut trees stretching out at different angles towards the sea, a beautiful garden and ambiance.. My favorite activities were kayaking and darts and surfing, as well as surfing the internet!

I left for the afternoon and waited for the bus to Suva, the capital of Fiji.. It’s pretty late. I stopped the minibus running between Lautoka and Suva and 1 hour later I was in Suva. First I stopped by the post office and bought two cards. I sent one to a card collector Czech Republic who wrote to me on the couchsurfing website and the other to my family.. In fact, I sent the last card maybe ten years ago.

The city center of Suva is pretty mediocre, more like a town.. In a very involuntary move, I found myself at McDonalds that came my way.. In my trip, I usually stay away from such fast foods and try to taste local delicacies, I must have been very hungry this time.. I bought a McChicken Menu (8.5FJ$) and started walking the streets of the city. After taking a look at the center of the city and then I started to follow Victoria Street.

The entrance floor of the museum consists of three parts, the first entrance room has a few canoes and tools used by Fijian fishermen.. The last great Fijian canoe found in this hall, the most valuable work of the museum. He was over 10 meters tall.

Besides that were some old photographs.. In the second part, there was the Shop of the Museum.. In the next section, there is information about the history of Fiji, the first people to come.. On the upper floor, there were traditional clothes, endemic plants and information about fish and animal species and genera found only in Fiji.. It was a very modest museum and not rich in content.

After visiting the museum, I went back to the city center and stopped by the public market.. What beautiful and delicious tropical fruits. I smiled when I remembered the prices in New Zealand.. When I asked a seller of peeled ready-to-eat pineapple for a price and said $1 instead of half a cent, I left and started walking.. He came running after me and said sir okay, but I continued on my way.

This attitude towards tourists, which was very common in Turkey at the time and is still stupid in some places, is here as well.. After drinking a large glass of cold juice for half a cent from a vendor selling freshly squeezed mixed juices, I went to the bus terminal.. The minibus I took on the way from The Coral Cost to Suva was very unsafe and fast, and the music was still quite loud.. After my two-hour trip to Suva, I took the Sunbean company bus, which I used before, at the last moment (17 FJ$)

The journey took much longer than I expected, 5about 5 hours. However, if I had used a minibus, the road would have been 3 hours.. The itinerary and sunset were stunning as always. On the way, I found myself in the city of Loutuka due to the driver forgetting, even though I said it at the crossroads to Viseisei Village.. I came back to Viseisei crossroads by taking the minibuses that were waiting there and going to Suva. scattered on the road. This time I walked calmly under a very bright moonlight close to the full moon, under a million stars with the barking of dogs in my ear.. It was as if I had never walked on a full moon before, it was the first time I had this feeling, it was nice.

When I got to Niko and Ana’s house, almost everyone was sleeping in the living room.. Some of them woke up with my arrival, after I ate my plate of fish that was prepared for dinner and thrown in the fridge, along with rice and fried onions, I went to Fi’s house.. She has two young guests from Ireland tonight.

After chatting a bit about my trip, I said goodbye and went back to Niko’s house.. Niko had woken up and asked me to sit across from him when I entered the house.. Several women came from relatives. Use it to prepare Kava. In a large bowl, it was dissolved in water by one of the girls who came.. After an hour of drinking kava and chatting, I fell asleep. A new country, a new city and a new journey awaited me tomorrow.
