Nice Travel Guide

One of the most popular cities on the Mediterranean coast of France, Nice, in French Cote Definitely a must-stop spot on the French riviera (French riviera), referred to as d’Azur. Nice, which is an indispensable part of the French tour of the South, which is getting more and more popular among France tours, pleases its visitors with what it offers both in terms of sea-sun and culture.. In the Nice travel guide, I will start with general information about Nice and detail how to get a France visa, how to get to Nice, how long to stay, what to eat.

NICE GENERAL INFORMATION

France’s busiest airport after two airports in Paris, and again from Paris Nice, which has the second largest hotel capacity in the country after the country, hosts around 4 million tourists every year with its mild Mediterranean climate and natural beauties.. For the places to see in the city, you can check my article WHICH PLACES TO VISIT.

Euro is used as currency. The time is 1 hour behind Turkey, As long as Turkey remains in summer time throughout the year, the time difference increases to 2 hours in winter. France’s international dialing code is 0033.

With the English word meaning “nice, beautiful” and read as “nays” even though it is spelled the same way, the name of the city is read as “nis”

Visa to France

Turkish citizens can enter France with a Schengen visa (for regular passport holders). Green passport, on the other hand, does not require a visa.

France has recently become one of the Schengen countries that issue ‘long visas’, I have friends who see visas for one and two years, especially in consecutive applications.. Visa applications are made through a company named VFS Global, click on the website to learn the application process.

When to Go to Nice

Many people (including me) consider the Italy – France tour the coastal region a summer vacation route, including Nice prefers to see. In other words, if you are tired of popular holiday destinations in Turkey such as Çeşme, Bodrum, Antalya, or if you want to see new places in Europe, your sea-sun holiday route can be Nice and its surroundings.. The average temperature in July – August was around 25 – 27 degrees, when I went in July, it was around 30.. For those who want to make a route in this way, my article How to Make a Cote d’Azur Travel Plan will be useful.

Those who have the possibility to choose a wider date, Nice vacation they can plan for it to cover the 14th of July, the French Independence Day, that’s what I did. Although the most magnificent celebrations were held in the capital, Paris, there was also a beautiful fireworks display on the coast of Nice that lasted for a long time.

Since it is a city rich in natural beauty and culture, of course it is summer. You can go outside of your holiday.. Even in the coldest months of December and January, the average temperatures are between 6 and 10 degrees.. An important detail on timing for those who are considering going in winter; There is a carnival at the same time as the Venice Carnival. Carnival in 2019 will be between February 16 and March 2, detailed information is on the website.. It looks pretty fun

If you go on a day that includes July 14, you can watch the French Liberation Day performances.

How Long to Stay in Nice

How long to stay in Nice, what kind of holiday depends a lot on what you plan. 2 days is enough for those who want to see only the city; but as I said before, instead of seeing it alone, you should also see the nearby places on the French coastline.. In fact, I’ve always stayed in Nice, with day trips to Cannes and Monaco and the beautiful surrounding towns, as it’s the largest of the other sights (it was easier than constantly changing hotels and moving around). As such, the length of stay can be increased to 4 – 5 days.

NICE ACCOMMODATION – Nice Hotel Recommendation

If the primary purpose is to swim, of course we should be close to the Promenade des Anglais road, which is the coastal part.

Hotel recommendation: Radisson Blu Hotel Nice (4 stars)

As the hotels lined up along this road are generally quite luxurious, it is inevitable to go from the coast to the mainland as the budget gets tight i stayed in a hostel in a side street. As I mentioned in my article on Places to Visit, the tram passes through this square, and you can reach the beach with a short walk.. It is also a nightclub area with street performers, which are very beautiful in the evenings.

Hotel recommendations: Hotel La Villa Nice Promenade (3 stars), Arome Hotel

Seeing the city rather than swimming, that is, if you came for cultural tourism, it would be more logical to stay around the old town.. You can search around the squares named Place Garibaldi and Place Rossetti. I added my suggestions, which are in the old town and close to the sea.

Hotel recommendations: Nice Garibaldi (4 stars), Hôtel Le Genève (3 stars)

If none of my recommendations suit you, at least make sure to be close to the tram stop, because you can go to all the important places of the city by tram. If you’re going during the high seasons of carnival or summer, don’t forget to book your place early.. Click here to review all Nice hotels and make reservations on booking.com.

Staying close to the tram line can make your job easier.

WHAT TO EAT IN NICE? – Nice Food Recommendation

A nice combination of French and Mediterranean cuisine, Nice uses olive oil and greens in abundance.. The famous French vegetable dish Ratatouille can be tried. Socca, which I can describe as chickpea pancakes or fried bread made from chickpea flour, is another traditional flavor.

The famous fish soup/casserole for fish lovers French food Bouillabaisse can be different choice. Pissaladiere with onions and anchovies, known as French pizza, is also among the famous local dishes containing fish.

French toast can cheer up your breakfast table, especially. But I generally made my breakfast choices for croissant. Considering that the French patisserie culture is already very developed, you should definitely try the delicious snacks in patisserie (French for patisserie) and especially macarons. Because they are colorful and diverse, people want to eat them all

It is a pleasure to sit in the cafe-restaurants in the old town and enjoy wine and cheese, especially in the evening. enjoyment is priceless. There are plenty of such places to sit and relax around Place Rossetti and Place Garibaldi.

The colorful macarons fall apart in your mouth. My favorite is the cherry ones.

NICE NIGHTLIFE – FUN

Since Nice is a city that gets lively in the summer season, of course, it has a daytime sea + evening disco combo We came back from the sea, took a shower, got dressed, took a walk along the beach, got tired and in the city center (old city area, see my article on Nice Places to Visit for details) We ate our dinner at the tables set outside.. Then it’s time to explore the discos and bars around, the fact that many places are within walking distance of each other will make your job easier.

If you want to return home around 01:00 at night and before, it is possible to return by bus or tram. Nice Transportation Guide writing can help you, for information on which lines you can use. After 1 o’clock at night, it is possible to reach by taxi or bicycle-like vehicles called ‘pedicap’, which is generally used by young people.

Instead of the old city area to go out at night Place Massena.

After a pleasant walk on the Promenade des Anglais in the evening, immerse yourself in the nightlife. you can leave it

NICE SHOPPING – WHAT TO BUY IN NICE

Since the prices are in Euro, unfortunately, shopping is not very advantageous in terms of price.. If you still want to buy brands or products that are not in Turkey, you can especially look around the Promenade des Anglais coastal road and around Rue Massena.. Cours Saleya flower market (antique market on sundays), which is among the top places to visit, can be another alternative.

For fashion and cosmetics Since the French are always assertive, products that we are accustomed to ‘Made in France’ label such as perfume and cream can be found cheaply, it is worth checking.

For smaller budgets and rosin shepherd gift ideas, patisserie products such as makarons and French wine are among the top things to buy.. For example, I don’t think there is a person who would not be happy to see the colorful and delicious macarons gifted in a small sweet box
