Places to visit on Painters’ Hill

Places to visit Painters’ Hill in general to enjoy the view and Sacre Even if you come to see the Coeur Basilica, the stalls of great painters, where you can have your own picture drawn with charcoal or find ready-made charcoal drawings, are also one of the most important activities on the hill.. Also, don’t forget to add a few small museums to your list.

1-Sacre Coeur Basilica : It is one of the most well-known structures of Painters’ Hill. In general, tourists are content to take a few photos from the outside of the Basilica.. Honestly, they’re right about that too.. If you do not have a Paris Pass Card, I think there is no need to pay money and enter this basilica.. While there are so many museums and churches in Paris, the inside of this basilica may not give you what you want. So I think it will be enough just to take a few pictures from the outside.. The basilica was created after the Franco-Prussian war as a symbol of hope.. Its exterior is a Byzantine-style basilica, similar to a wedding cake, as in many other buildings in Paris.

You can be sure that you can enjoy the unique view of Paris by climbing its dome.. After all, while there is a magnificent view from the front of the Basilica, I think it will be a unique experience to watch the view of Paris from its dome.. From here, you can easily see the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Pompidou Center, the Eiffel Tower and the Opera House.. There is also a terrace on the left side of the dome that you can reach by climbing 300 steps.. The best part of this Basilica is that you can find the grass around the Basilica where you can relax.. There is a warm atmosphere in the area where there are street performers in general.

To reach the area where this Basilica is located, you can walk to 35 Rue du Chevalier-de-la-Barre from the Place du Tertre area.. Alternatively, you can reach the Rue du Cardinal Dubois on foot or by a 2-minute Funicular ride.. On Painters Hill, there are lawns and benches where you can sit and relax as you wish.. That’s why you don’t need to use the Funicular for short trips.

2-Place du Tertre and Eglise Saint Pierre de Montmartre : Painters’ Hill’ Place du Tertre, one of the most important squares of the city, is one of the most important places, reflecting the spirit of Montmartre, full of colorful stalls of real artists.. You can also find souvenirs in this small square.. However, if you compare it with other souvenir shops in Paris, this place may not be a good option in terms of price.

You can find many restaurants and cafes in this square.. The seating outside the cafes is one of the best places to watch the painters at work.. Also, if you are a crepe lover, you can find many crepe stalls here.

Just behind the Place du Tertre square, there is the Church of St. Pierre de Montmartre.. Although it is not worth going inside, it is one of the places where you can take a look at its architecture from the outside.

3-Moulin de Galette ; Windmills : Painters’ Hill was once adorned with windmills, but only two are still in operation today.. Moulin Blute-Fin and Moulen Radet, these windmills date back to 1717. Today, these two windmills are known as the Moulin de Galette.. It inspired great artists such as Van Gogh and today operates as a restaurant.

4-Moulin Rouge : The popular Moulin Rouge on the Boulevard de Clichy road is part of the Hill of Painters Although it is not accepted, it is located very close to the hill.. Moulin Rouge is not exactly a nightclub. Operates as Cabaret (Cabaret-Musical and Dance Show). This club, where the world’s most popular cabaret shows are held, will most likely be super expensive.. So you can skip. There are many bars and nightclubs around the Moulin Rouge. If you are looking for a place for nightlife, I think Le Queen is one of the most economical and best options. Operating as a Bar-Night Club, Le Queen is only 5 minutes away from Moulin Rouge.

5-Montmartre Cemetery (Cimetiere de Montmartre) : This large cemetery, established during the French Revolution, is a good option to get away from the tourist crowds for a bit. It is home to the graves of many famous painters, musicians and literary figures.

Other places to visit in Montmartre (Painters’ Hill) are; Musee du Montmartre,Place des Abbesses,Espace Dali,Carre Roland Dorgeles,Musee National Gustave Moreau and Musee d’art Naive Max Fourny. In these places, Painters Hill was among our attractions.. But we didn’t have much time so we had to skip it.. If you have time, you can take a look at these places.

Information About Painters’ Hill

Painters’ Hill has been a true symbol and part of Paris since 1860. It was known as a village and was a region where alcohol was prohibited. However, this rule was not very important for Parisians, so this rule did not apply much.

Painters Hill has hosted many famous artists.. The most important of them are; Van Gogh, Toulouse Lautrec, Picasso, Monet and Renoir.

Painters’ Hill is an expensive region in general. Especially its restaurants are quite expensive.. Unless you absolutely have to, try not to choose luxury restaurants here, and instead you can choose small local restaurants where you can find fast food dishes.

Although Place du Tertre seems like the best area for portraits, this is actually portrait. It is quite an expensive area for pictures.. Instead of the Place du Tertre area, you can choose the painters near the Montmartre Museum. Although I have no idea about the quality, it is definitely a place to be preferred in terms of price.
