PLACES TO SEE IN ESKISEHIR: ESKISEHIR TRAVEL GUIDE

I’m in a city that screams ‘vision’ from the moment you see its sign and enter its borders. Our first meeting was at the end of high school, on a school trip to the universities we knew we would never go to, on the way back from Ankara.. When I say that we will never go, what I mean is; We will learn later that we are one of the 5-6 high schools in İzmir that could not get an Anatolian High School, 110 people will graduate from our high school, which is the victim of location, and at least 70 of them will not be able to graduate from the university in the first year, there are 4 students whose degree is expected, 3 months left to take the ÖSS and we are at METU. hey, we’re traveling. The faith of our school is truly eye-catching.. There are 35 students on the trip, the hardworking people take the test at home, our only goal is to have fun together for the last time before the exam.. There is no school on this trip that I will write to the preferences, but okay, we are going to Eskişehir as well.. My love for Eskişehir, where we went to see Anadolu University, begins exactly on that evening when I walked by the Porsuk edge and then had fun with my dear friends –without our teachers knowing!!!! : left;”>After 11 years, we are adding Eskişehir to the return route of the Mediterranean tour in 2017 to refresh the memories and take a break from the road.. Our day trip, which we started with Sazova Park, ends with the question of ‘should we move here’ as we witness the magnificent change of the city in 10 years.. As an Izmirian, for the first time in my life, for a city that does not have a coastline and is in the heart of Anatolia, I am returning to Istanbul unintentionally with such a thought.. Then I promise myself; ‘You will definitely go to Eskişehir once a year’.

<p

There are many cities in Turkey that I love to visit; however, the cities on this list, including İzmir, where I have lived for 18 years, need to eat 40 bakery breads in order to be a Eskişehir in terms of development.. Eskişehir, which has become the cultural city of our country, with an understanding of municipality that will set an example for every city and everyone; I think Prof.. Dr.. He owes the world to Yılmaz Büyükerşen. With its two universities, a full student world, dozens of museums that were created out of nothing during the Büyükerşen period, its love for art, young people socializing around the clean Porsuk Stream, abundant greenery, giant parks and new architectures that do not look like Europe, Eskişehir is on the list of cities you must see. finds a place easily. It is not considered unfair either; if the vision, civilization, and the future has a capital city in Turkey that is none other than Eskişehir.

ABOUT ESKISEHIR

ABOUT ESKISEHIR strong>

First of all, Eskişehir, the home of the Hittites; It took its place in history when the Phrygians discovered the region and established a state here.. Eskişehir, which was called Dorylaion at that time, later became an important center of Anatolia by entering the domination of the Persians and Byzantines until the Seljuks.. Eskişehir, which was known as Sultanönü in the Seljuk State and then continued its existence as a part of the Ottoman Empire, has played an important role in the history of our Republic if we come to our recent past.. The contribution of Eskişehir to the establishment of the Republic cannot be denied by anyone, even for these reasons alone. “text-align: left;”>Today, Eskişehir is a colorful and cheerful place that has left its historical damage far behind.. For one thing, it’s a typical student city with two universities, so it’s always bustling and full of energy. As we will never get tired of saying, Eskişehir is now the center of artistic activities as a result of the -and still ongoing- works in the city with the mayorship of Yılmaz Büyükerşen.. The city contains an enviable number of museums, galleries and sculptures. There are plenty of parks and gardens that we miss seeing in big cities.. The streets are clean, historical places are constantly being restored.. When you come as a tourist, there are so many places, so many museums and so many places to get from the city and see here.. In fact, we are so sure that you will encounter many times more than you expected before you come, that if you plan for Eskişehir for less than 3 days, we are at least so sure that you will not be able to visit this place completely.. Without further ado, we would like to start our list of Places to Visit in Eskişehir by expressing our love and thanks to the exemplary president Yılmaz Büyükerşen for the hundred and fifty thousandth time.. #2 Atlıhan Handicrafts Bazaar:

Our favorite here, as everywhere else, is Atlıhan Handicrafts Bazaar. In the past, the inns where merchants and their animals were kept serve as cafes and gift shops in many provinces today.. You can also visit one size smaller of them in Odunpazarı.. Atlıhan Handicrafts Bazaar has a friendly atmosphere with its small courtyard and is full of traditional souvenir shops.

When you come to Atlıhan, you can also stop by the Cam Belly Tea Garden at the back entrance.. We loved it with its nostalgic music and colorful environment.. There is also a glass workshop here, let’s mention it.

#11 Islands Region and Porsuk Stream

We came to one of our favorites in Eskişehir; Undoubtedly, Porsuk Stream! Porsuk, which may have had no features or touristic attraction years ago, is the place that offers the most colorful views of Eskişehir today.. Especially as of May, its state filled with greens is enough to warm our hearts and it is already increasing.. When we come to Eskişehir, this is a point we never pass without stopping by; once it is surrounded by all kinds of cafes, restaurants and bars. It is possible to finish the day without getting bored if we go around all of them in a row.. However, if the weather is suitable, it is a must for us to buy food and drink from the market and spread out on the grass next to Porsuk..

Boat and Gondola Tour on Porsuk Stream

Another thing we should remind you when it comes to Porsuk Stream is the boat and gondola tours that started here after it was cleaned.. Yes, yes you did not mix it up; You know, like in every European city with a canal and a river! boat tours between Köprübaşı and Kentpark take place in summer and spring; 10 TL per person. Gondola tours, which can take up to 4 people, are 30 TL, but we think it’s better to photograph these gondolas from the Porsuk side..

When you come to Porsuk Stream, Iki Eylul Caddesi, Doktorlar Caddesi and Ataturk Caddesi in the Islands Region Also add to your travel list. You can see the most popular cafes and restaurants of Eskişehir on these streets, and you can find many national and international brands for your shopping.

#12 Kentpark & Eskişehir Artificial Beach

Eskişehir Of course, one of the features we envy the most is these giant parks.. How they have greened huge areas and added breath to the city! Here is one of them, our dear Kentpark. This is the place to say the Turkey branch of Central Park.. The 300,000 square meter Kentpark, which includes pools, sports fields, walking tracks, an artificial pond and cafes, is mainly famous for its artificial beach. Yılmaz President has also found a solution for him in the city that has no coast to the sea.. I swear we’re taking off our hats now! I even remember the headlines in the newspapers when I was a kid; It was written that the people of Eskişehir will sunbathe on the beach, they really succeeded.. Our country’s first artificial beach admission is 15 TL per person. Here you go, enjoy the hot summer days.

Taking aside our beach location, you will see that the Porsuk Stream also passes here when you go on the long hiking trail of Kentpark.. You should definitely include Kentpark in your list of excursions; very clear head. The entrance to the park is free, the parking lot is 3 TL.

#13 Sazova Science, Art and Culture Park

While you open the Eskişehir parks file, it is not possible to tell about Sazova Park. This place is bigger than Kentpark, with an area of 400,000 square meters, it brings a breath of fresh air to the city.. In Sazova Science Art and Culture Park, which can be a crown jewel for families with children, in addition to the pond, Tale Castle, Pirate Ship, Turkish World Science and Culture Center, Esminyatürk Masterpieces of the Turkish World, Sabancı Space House, Science and Experiment Center, ETİ Underwater World and Japanese Garden You can visit the points. Sazova Park, which is one of the places to visit in Eskişehir, also includes many playgrounds, gift shops, cafes and restaurants.

Because the park covers a very large area, all points It will take a lot of time to visit, but if you are on a day tour and you don’t have much time, at least come and see the Sleeping Beauty Castle in Paris Disneyland and the Fairy Tale Castle, which is modeled on the important architectures of our country, and tour inside.. #14 TÜLOMSAŞ Devrim Automobile

It is possible to see Devrim, which is the first and only domestic automobile of our country, at the Tülomsaş factory in Eskişehir.. The completion of the Revolution car, which has an important place in our industrial history and technology history, and which was built in Eskişehir, including its engine, in a short period of 4.5 months, dates back to 1961.. If you go to the Tulomsaş factory, which you can reach in a short time from the Islands Region, during working hours, you can leave your ID and see the Devrim car for free.. Although the Revolution car is a real revolution for our country, it has never been able to go into mass production; Let’s add that too.

WHERE TO STAY IN ESKISEHIR

We didn’t have much choice in terms of accommodation, as our last visit to Eskişehir was a bit spontaneous, but we still stumbled upon our lucky moment.. Ada Life Hotel, located at the most lively point of Adalar district, right on the slope of Porsuk Stream, made us very happy with its parking facility and breakfast.. Moreover, on the ground floor of the hotel overlooking the Porsuk Stream, there is one of the city’s popular venues, the Travelers’ Cafe.

With the exception of Ada Life Hotel, the Senna City Hotel, which is within walking distance of it, is also one of the popular hotels in Eskişehir.. Maybe we’ll stay there next time.

If you can’t find a place for accommodation in these two hotels, or if you want to make a more economical choice, there are also options such as hostels and hostels. We recommend that you stay in the Islands area again anytime. There are so many cafes and bars around that the youth of Eskişehir is officially flowing here!

ESKISEHIR FOOD AND DRINK RECOMMENDATIONS

The lively cafes of Eskişehir make us very happy ; We must have bonds with some of them, as we never get tired of going again and again.. Aside from these, one should not return without tasting the Balaban kebab with meatballs and chili, which are special to Eskişehir.. Let’s go and leave our loved ones below as a summary of Eskişehir Eating and Drinking Recommendations list.

For the curious;

After that school trip I met in Eskişehir, no one went to Anadolu University, only 32 people entered the university that year, half of them in Izmir and to universities in Manisa, some of them for two years, some of them went to schools outside Ankara and Istanbul.. Only 1 person from the school won METU. On the other hand, I won Yeditepe University with a scholarship, and I had already visited there with my mother.. Conclusion; University trips in high schools do not contribute anything to ÖSS, but now that I think about it, I am glad I went.. Thanks mommy!
