PLACES TO SEE IN FETHIYE: FETHIYE IN 2 DAYS

Since my childhood, I have visited many coasts of Turkey, but I could not go to Fethiye.. My friends haven’t been able to finish it for years, I kept taking screenshots of every Fethiye scene I came across on social media, I got tired of saying ‘it’s next year’, I realized that I made a huge Mediterranean tour plan for this summer that will not be possible by dreaming anymore.. This is exactly how our story with Fethiye started, and after this holiday I realized once again that loving from afar is not the most beautiful love.

Butterfly Valley, Faralya

Fethiye is the apple of the eye of Muğla, which has miraculous coasts and towns. Mugla; Bodrum is one of the most prominent cities that proudly carry the tourism glitter of our country with Muğla, Marmaris and Fethiye.. The subject of this article is Fethiye, which gave Okan and me one of the most beautiful trips of our lives.. Fethiye, where we spent 2.5 days of our 10-day trip; It has become one of the unforgettable routes with its fairy-tale nature, breathtaking views and dreamy coast.. During this 10-day trip, of course, we did not settle for less, but exaggerated (this part is entirely because of me) because we wanted to go to many places, even though we made a slightly accelerated tour, we saw every place we were curious about here and we continued on our way with the happiness of having realized our dreams.

Fethiye; In addition to the Lycian Way, which is our country’s longest walking route and the favorite of recent years, Oludeniz lagoon attracts tens of thousands of tourists every year. It hosts >Butterfly Valley and Kabak Bay. Another plus of Fethiye is; Being a neighbor to Rhodes, one of the most visited Greek islands, like Marmaris. At the beginning, you can come for two days like us and see the values that have exceeded the limits of their reputation; but I’m sure you’ll want to come back many times later.

How to Get to Fethiye

It is possible to come to Fethiye with your own vehicle like us and set up a travel plan according to your wishes.. Since we preferred to go to Fethiye from Marmaris, we followed the Muğla, Dalaman and Fethiye signs.. Drivers coming from Istanbul need to follow the route of Kütahya, Burdur, Söğüt, Kemer.

Another alternative is to use Dalaman Airport. Transport by air. It takes 30 minutes from Dalaman Airport to Fethiye, you will have a comfortable journey.. However; renting a car will be beneficial for the places you will go in Fethiye. If you are going during the high season, you can rent your car by pre-booking one of the car rental companies or by contacting one of the companies in the area when you arrive at the airport.. Car rental fees vary according to the model of the car.. In places where there is a need for land vehicle such as Kabak Bay, it is possible to provide transportation by organizing a hotel transfer or by getting paid service from the tractors in the village (they already do this as a business).. Those who do not prefer to rent a car after Dalaman Airport can use Havaş, which directly reaches Fethiye. It is possible to come here with the companies that provide transfer service at the airport exit.. The last alternative is to go to Dalaman center by taxi and use the Fethiye buses.

Belcekız Beach, Ölüdeniz

How is the Sea in Fethiye

From our limited time and the saint of the weather Even though we could only use the sea for 1 day because of this, we were very happy that our choice was Oludeniz.. Thus, we saw both Belcekiz and Kumburnu.. The fact that the period we went to coincides with the end of May is definitely effective in this; because the water wasn’t very hot. At the end of May, walking on soft sand in a very cool water will please everyone.. They say that as of June, the sea water temperature in Fethiye has warmed up considerably.

Places To See In Fethiye

#1 Ölüdeniz Lagoon:

Turkey’s pride in tourism, which adorns the cover of every Mediterranean guide you can get your hands on, the Ölüdeniz Lagoon is one of the top places to visit in Fethiye.. If your arrival time is early, you can plan the first day here. Ölüdeniz is called a lagoon as a geographical formation.. Lagoon, which means abalone, is actually the exact equivalent of the classic, top view that comes up when you type Ölüdeniz into Google.. While the part outside the ear faces the open sea, the cove-like area inside the ear creates a pool air.. To go to Ölüdeniz, you can leave your car in the center near here and walk.. Another option is to enter the private parking lot and evaluate the possibilities of the business for 25 TL per day.

Kumburnu, Ölüdeniz

There are two areas where you can swim in Ölüdeniz. One is Belcekız, which overlooks the open sea and serves as a public beach, and the other is Kumburnu, which is formed by the area inside the lagoon.. Belcekiz; Although it fluctuates from time to time, it is a favorite of holidaymakers with its wide beach and clean water.. Here it is possible to lay a towel on the sand and enjoy Ölüdeniz, but let me add that the sea can suddenly get deep.. Kumburnu, on the other hand, is the address of those looking for a more original experience with its pool-type dark and soft sand-filled beach.. In Kumburnu, the color suddenly darkens and you are left with a dark blue image.. Since the part inside the ear is operated by a private company, I recommend renting sun loungers and umbrellas here when the sun is high.. You pay 15 TL for each. Here the sea gets deeper as it progresses, it has very still water.. It is easy to swim and I think the children enjoy the place the most.. Sports activities such as pedalo and canoeing are also possible for adults.

Pea bike in Ölüdeniz

There are also businesses in Kumburnu where you can meet your food and beverage needs; Of course, I have to point out that their prices are at an annoyingly high. For example; You can pay 90 TL for 2 toast and 2 alcoholic drinks. It is not difficult to feel like an Englishman while eating; The only problem is that you don’t get a Pound salary like them.. Therefore, if you left your vehicle in the car park of the enterprise at first, you can exit and re-enter by specifying your license plate for such needs; your parking fee does not work. Those with time can experience both sides. The best part of Ölüdeniz is that nature is your best friend while enjoying the sea.. Both beaches are surrounded by the steep slopes of Fethiye.

#2 Calis Beach:

The direct solution for those looking for a public beach in Fethiye center Calis Beach strong>. The beach, which is quite crowded in the season, but also in the lens of the British; With a length of 4 kilometers, it is home to many hotels, pensions, venues and gift shops in and around it.. They say that this is one of the best beaches in Fethiye, it is better to go early to enjoy it because it gets very crowded in the afternoon.. It is generally preferred by families; It is also an attractive spot for water sports lovers.. My favorite is the coast walk part, which is quite spectacular especially at sunset. The fact that it is one of the rare beaches where the sweet Caretta Caretta turtles lay their eggs has a great role in preserving the reputation of Calis Beach today.. I also have a note; If you’re planning to go, take water shoes with you. Pebbles are plentiful.

Fethiye view on the way to the top of Babadağ

#3 Paragliding and Sunset from Babadag:

One of the most popular frames of Instagram in recent years Fethiye’s paragliding concept creates. Therefore, paragliding is one of the activities that should be done by travelers who are not afraid of heights while they are in Fethiye.. Of course, for this, the weather conditions must be suitable when you go.. If Babadağ, the center of the activity, is covered with fog, the jump cannot be performed.. The cost of this experience, which you can put behind the Ölüdeniz program, is around 500 TL in the high season, with GoPro footage, it is also 750 TL with the 2019 price.. Of course it is possible to do it for a much lower figure in low season. It is certain that those who have the courage will meet the best and most magnificent view of Fethiye.. If those who say, “No, I won’t take it” coincide with the days when there is no fog, they can go to sunset at the parachute jumping point in Babadag for sunset.. Babadag, a part of the Taurus Mountains; it is also a trekking route. There are many different types of plants on the route that follows the walking path, it is also very fun to discover them during the walk.. In any case, I recommend you to wear something thick, the temperature between the center and Babadağ is quite high, with a difference.

Sunset from Babadağ

#4 Valley of the Butterflies:

2-day Fethiye tour Valley of Butterflies is a must see place.. Let me describe it like this; A valley within the boundaries of Ölüdeniz town and the skirts of Babadağ. How nice it was in 1995 I. It is one of the rare places where construction is not allowed because it has been declared a protected area of grade . This feature is also a favorite of travelers with its turquoise sea and the surrounding nature.. There is a barrack-style business in the valley where construction is not allowed; Here you can meet your food, beverage and toilet needs.. You can get the camping service for accommodation here and sleep in the bungalow.. This aspect of the valley offers its visitors a completely unrealistic and surreal environment.. Since the name of the valley comes from the butterflies, this issue should also be mentioned.. Between June and September, you can meet nearly 100 butterfly species here.

Butterfly Valley, Faralya

Those who wonder how to get to Butterfly Valley; You can reach it by Oludeniz or you can use the trekking route of Faralya village, which is just above the valley, following the Babadag road.. It is quite easy to reach the valley by sea; You can use the ‘shuttle’ concept boats departing from Belcekiz for 25 TL for a round trip.. This is the simplest way to enjoy the beach of Butterfly Valley and swim in its water.. Conditioned people who are interested in mountaineering can use the path that goes down from Faralya to the valley; however, it should be added that this is an extremely dangerous method.. Already, at the entrance of this pathway, a huge sign clearly states that using this place can result in death.. Whoever does it, it’s different.

If your time is limited and you can’t find the time to go to the valley from Belcekiz, another option is Faralya To reach the observation terrace a little further from the mosque by going to the village of. If you follow the direction signs after passing the mosque, you can reach the terrace in 10 minutes.. The valley can be seen very clearly from where there are benches to sit and breathe.. Moreover, free. Of course, when one travels so high, one wants to stop and take landscape photos on the way from Faralya to Kabak Bay.. If you do not miss the sight binoculars that you can easily see at the observation points, you can catch different points where you can watch the various beauties of Fethiye and the Butterfly Valley.

Butterflies Valley, Faralya

#5 Kabak Bay:

Babadag Another miraculous natural wonder located on the outskirts of Turkey is Kabak Bay. After seeing Kabak, you are no longer surprised that Babadağ is one of the 100 protected mountains in the world.. Kabak Bay consists of the beach of a valley surrounded by mountains on three sides.. It has recently become one of the wellness centers; The fact that it is a place for many yoga and meditation activities is due to its silence and being in the middle of nature.. One reason for this environment is that, unlike the Butterfly Valley, there is direct access from the land to the Kabak valley.. You can reach the bay from Ölüdeniz by seaway; Another solution is to arrive in Kabak for 1 hour with the dolmus departing from Fethiye and then walk the path that will appear at the point where you get off.. For those who do not want to walk, you can go down with the tractor of the village uncles who do business for 60 TL with a little jumping ride.. Since the bay is in a protected area, bungalows and tents form your most comfortable accommodation here.. Although Kabak Bay is not as visible as Butterfly Valley, its fans are quite happy with the situation, you know that the harder it is to reach a place, the more valuable it is.

Kabak Bay, Fethiye

#6 12 Islands Boat Trip:

Fethiye means exploring the unique coves and shores of the Mediterranean. So, while you’re here, you need to take a boat tour.. When it comes to boat tours in Fethiye, the 12 Islands Tour formed by the islets in the Göcek basin in the gulf comes first.. Boats departing between 9-10 in the morning go to Kızılada, Delikli Islands, Yassıca Islands, Tersane Island, Domuz Island and Cleopatra Baths.. Apart from the islands, Bedri Rahmi and Göbün coves and Knights Island, where Rhodes knights once lived, are also included in the route.. The price per person of the tour varies according to the season and dates, but I can say that it comes to a minimum of 70-80 TL on average.. Those who want to get enough of the blue and spend a day in the water like a fish have a route that should not be missed.

Yonca Lodge

Where to Stay in Fethiye

It is certain that you will find many alternatives for accommodation in Fethiye, after all This is one of the most touristic spots in Turkey.. There are many options for your budget, but if you are an experience seeker like me, then the first place you should look is Yonca Lodge in Yanıklar Village, 30 minutes away from Fethiye centre.. Established as a camping business 30 years ago, Yonca has been serving as a hotel since the early 2000s.. Not to mention a hotel, this is one of the rare establishments in our country that implements the concept of ‘ecotourism’ under the name of ecological holiday.. For example; They support the protection project of the Caretta Caretta turtles that have been laying eggs on the beach since the first day they were opened.. So much so that you leave the beach to them as of 7 pm.. There are no umbrellas on the beach, the trees buried in the sand are already able to provide shade.

Yonca Lodge

Nature is with you at every point of the hotel; You wake up with birds in the morning and dream with the sound of frogs at night.. Every corner of the garden is filled with organic fruit trees; from pomegranate to apricot to even avocado. Freshly picked herbs from the garden come to your table for breakfast. Hammocks accompany your enjoyment of the day in the light breeze of the beach.. Best of all, all the guests of the hotel are like neighbors, everyone is warm and sincere as if they have known each other for many years.. I have stayed in dozens of hotels until now; I couldn’t find the peace I found in Yonca in any of them.. As I said in my Instagram post; this is like a meeting place for those who are “longing to hear good morning from someone they don’t know.” My other photos and Instagram notes from our Fethiye and Mediterranean tour are waiting for you in the tags #journavelfethiye and #journavelakdeniz!
