Places to Visit in Rize Çamlıhemşin

Rize, which we added at the last minute to the Eastern Black Sea tour route we made by car; One of the most beautiful cities I’ve ever seen in my life, home to a unique nature, making us feel that our lives are extended for 10 more years.. Its villages built on its slopes are so peaceful that it makes retirement dreams come true on the Aegean coast.. While its sharp winding roads are giving us a headache, on the other hand, with its view, “I think we are crossing one of the most beautiful roads in the world right now.” she thinks. How to Get to Rize?

<

Rize does not have an airport. If you want to reach by plane, you can come to Trabzon Airport, which is the closest airport, as we did, and continue from there by land..

The airline company where you can find the cheapest flight ticket may vary depending on the period you are going to.. You can find the most suitable ticket by downloading the Skyscanner application to your phone or entering the website.. To download >> ANDROID | IOS

Click to see the cheapest flight tickets to Trabzon.

Flight to Trabzon After landing;

  • You can rent a car from Trabzon Airport and go to Rize. Transportation takes about 1 hour. By car, I mentioned the details of car rental and transportation in the Black Sea in the Eastern Black Sea Travel Guide article.
  • You can take Havaş from Trabzon Airport to Rize.. Transportation takes about 2 hours.. Rize center 25 TL, Çayeli 30 TL. Check the current time and route information by clicking here.
  • Take the bus from Trabzon to Rize.

Although the highland roads in the Eastern Black Sea region are very bad, the roads between the city centers are not as bad as they used to be; traveling quickly and safely. Therefore, you can also consider coming from different cities by bus or your private vehicle.. The only problem is that it takes a long time.

You can find many different companies for the bus, such as Sahil Travel, Rize Ses, Golden Turizm.

How to Visit Rize? Why Çamlıhemşin?

Rize is a city spread over the Eastern Black Sea coastline.. Therefore, the distances between the districts are a little long.. When the heart-pounding quality mountain roads are added to the job, it becomes quite difficult to travel on your own and without a car.

We didn’t want to join the tour or arrange a private vehicle because it was our first trip, so we took a normal vehicle and decided to take a rainless summer. We did a Rize tour on the day the vehicle allowed.

  • If you have a plan to go to a plateau other than Ayder Plateau in Rize;
    • You will either rent a 4×4 vehicle – which may not be enough, if you do not trust your driving ability, you also need a driver who knows the roads
    • Or you will join the tour.

We did not do it, but as far as we saw and heard from our friends from Rize, the wisest way to go to the plateau is to arrange a tour.. It doesn’t have to be crowded, you can also arrange a car with a driver.. Because the native knows the roads you go by calculating the centimeters like the back of his hand; where is the hole, where is the road closed etc.. they rule everything. When you use it yourself, you are left with the suffering.

Also, 4×4 car rentals are not as cheap as we thought. You can also check it by clicking here. Going by tour may be a much more economical solution.

The region that those who want to visit Rize by normal car, like we do, can reach -relatively- easily Çamlıhemşin. You reach Çamlıhemşin when you enter the coastal road and proceed along Fırtına Creek.. Most of the points in the Places to Visit in Rize list that I described in this article are gathered in this region.. Therefore, you can think of this article a bit like Çamlıhemşin Travel Guide rather than Rize in general.

Where to Stay in Rize? – Hotel Recommendations

You have plenty of time in Rize and “Let me stay in the center while I’m here.” you teach; i have no words for him. Apart from that, I strongly recommend you to pass the center directly and arrange a hotel in the green areas.

When you search for “hotel recommendation in Rize“, you will see the options directly in Ayder Plateau.. Pass them now. I can’t even imagine the final state of the plateau, which we found very crowded and even noisy when we went in 2017.

For places to stay in Çamlıhemşin -if it’s not spoiled- I can suggest you to look around Ortan Village and Şenyuva.. Hotels along the Firtina Valley are also very preferable in terms of price.

If you want to stay in a bungalow, Ada Pension is very popular; I think they condemn the blogger who goes to the Eastern Black Sea Region and does not stay there, he is so popular!

We preferred Naliya Hotel on the banks of Fırtına Creek for accommodation in Rize.. In the evenings, a fire is lit in the garden, and a horon is played around it with a jumpsuit.. So it was an enjoyable experience for us.. We did not have any transportation problems because the places we wanted to visit in Rize (Ayder, Zilkale, Palovit) were on the road route.

The price of the bungalow + breakfast per night was 200 TL at the time we went.

In 2020, this The price is 300 TL.

You can also consider renting a house from Airbnb for accommodation in Rize. Click here don’t forget to get your $29 discount from your first reservation.

What to Eat in Rize? – Food and Restaurant Recommendations

Muchlama, kuymak, corn bread, black cabbage soup or wrap, pickles roasted, Black Sea style covered pita bread, silor, laz pastry It is possible to find the best examples of delicacies such as Rize.

In addition to these, red beans with meat, roasted Rize and all kinds of anchovy dishes

If you want to buy something other than food, you can buy famous fabrics called Feretiko, known as “Rize cloth”, Hemşin socks, boxwood combs or spoons.

Çamlıhemşin Travel Tips

  • I haven’t seen the wrong overtaking I see here anywhere else; just like a way of life. The sharp bend of the highland roads, the maverick drivers of the normal roads brought our hearts to our mouths.. Be careful!
  • If you have a problem such as motion sickness and you are using a special medicine for it, make sure to take it with you.. If you don’t have such a problem, if you are in Rize, now you have it The ginger you will eat (or drink your tea) before you set off will relax you. Crackers or white chickpeas are also life savers.
  • You’d better take these with you:
    • Mosquito repellent if you’re going in summer
    • Raincoat (an umbrella can also be used, but an umbrella is not very suitable for heavy rain, it is easier to move with a raincoat.)
    • Waterproof shoes, rain boots if possible (with the shoes you take with you, you can cover 15 cm of mud. Calculate the pressure you will have)
    • Antacid if you are not good with greasy food
    • You can dress warmly in winter anyway, but don’t be fooled by the heat in summer and definitely get a jacket or cardigan

Places to Visit and Activities to Do in Rize

Places to visit in Rize, which has become a favorite of travelers and campers, are of course not limited to those here.. As I do in every travel article, in this article I have told only what we have visited.

The places we visited in Çamlıhemşin are almost like a rope on a single road, so we don’t need to make a special travel plan.

  • Our Çamlıhemşin itinerary was roughly as follows:
    • The evening of the day we landed in Trabzon, we settled in our hotel by the Fırtına Stream.
    • The next day we got up early in the morning and first went to Ayder Plateau.
    • We returned to Şenyuva side and took a coffee break at Zua Coffee.
      <

    • We went all the way to Zilkale and Palovit Waterfall and came back the same way.
    • We took a lunch break at Çinçiva Cafe in the afternoon.
    • We returned to Fırtına Valley at around 17.00 and did rafting.
    • We went to Artvin for overnight stay.

If you spend more time in Rize, you can now use Instagram like Ortan Village, Şenyuva Village, Pokut Plateau, Sal Plateau, Çeçeva Tea Garden You can also include m-famous points in your plan.

Storm Valley

The Storm Valley, which is a prelude to Rize, receives rain every season and is likened to the Amazon Forest with its rebellious nature, which was declared a protected area for a period, is now the victim of the HEPP monster… Fırtına Creek, which is born in Kaçkarlar and flows into the tea gardens, and the magnificent natural beauty it offers, It is one of the must-see places in Rize.. I can guarantee that your camera’s memory will not be enough due to the stone bridges along the stream.

Ayder Plateau

Ayder Plateau National Park entrance fee: 1O TL (per car)

Opening – Closing Hours:
Open every hour

“Places to visit in Rize” </strong When it is mentioned, Ayder Plateau, which is the most popular of the plateaus where the earth and the sky meet like a painting, comes to mind.. This, of course, brings along the hotel and tourist crowds, as well as providing ease of transportation.. Everyone's mouth is the same reproach "Why did you go to Ayder?!!" and “Oh, if only you could see the old version!…”/p pThere are two reasons why we went to Ayder: First; We are coming to the Eastern Black Sea Region for the first time, we wanted to start from scratch.. Secondly, as I mentioned above, it is very difficult to reach other plateaus if you are not the ruler of the region and do not have a suitable vehicle.. Unfortunately, we couldn't afford to suffer in our one-day time./p pLike the whole region, Ayder Plateau has an impressive nature, at least for someone coming from the city.. If you get away from the hotels area, you can find the opportunity to mingle with the cows who love themselves like dogs.. If the clouds allow, you will once again feel lucky to look at Gelin Tülü Waterfall, which deserves its name, from afar and to come to this geography./p pTransportation to Ayder Plateau is provided via Çamlıhemşin.. After arriving in Çamlıhemşin, it is necessary to continue on the road to Kaçkar Mountains National Park.. You can come to the entrance of the National Park from the asphalt road without any problems./p pThere is a serious problem of parking due to the crowd inside.. Since it is also on the route of tour buses, I have to mention that even if transportation is easy, you may be exposed to heavy traffic./p h3 id="12-zilkale"Zilkale/h3 strongEntry fee: /strong3 TL<
Opening – Closing Hours: 09.00-18.00

Zilkale, which is as impressive as the Sumela Monastery, is a breathtaking place where nature and history come together.. Although the exact year of construction is not known, it is obvious that it was once built as a castle.. Looking at the Zil Stream, which glides 100 meters under, from the guardrail of the castle may cause little stirs in your stomach.

Transportation to Zilkale is also provided via Çamlıhemşin.. In other words, one of the roads that divides into two after Çamlıhemşin goes to Ayder and the other continues to Zilkale.. When you head towards Palovit, and follow the stone-paved road after Şenyuva, you come across Zilkale with its enchanting view.

You can stop by the historical Çinçiva Bridge, which you will see on the way or on the way back, take a break ahead and take a tea or tea or tea ride across the bridge. You can sip your coffee.

Palovit Waterfall

After arriving in Zilkale, if the weather and road conditions are suitable, and on winding roads with one lane going back and forth If the stranded Arab tourists won’t bother you, you won’t regret turning your way to Palovit Waterfall.. This is the waterfall with the highest flow rate in the region.

The kind you get drenched with splashing water when you land next to it… It flows from a height of 15 meters, but its cascade can be heard from all sides.. If the clouds don’t block the sun, you can even see the rainbow colors where it ends.

The road to Palovit Waterfall was the worst road we took in Rize.. Since the weather was dry and clear, we managed to go even though it was difficult, but I think it will be difficult to reach in rainy and foggy weather.

Rafting in Fırtina Creek

I think rafting is number one among the activities to be done in Rize.

There has been a serious decrease in the flow rate of Fırtına Creek due to construction and HEPPs in the region. and due to the interventions made to the rapids to reduce the number of accidents to zero, it has started to be an adrenaline-free activity, but if you want to do it like me and are afraid of falling into the water, these changes will come in handy..

I don’t know which companies are left in 2020, what is the latest situation, but we used Didi Rafting when we went in 2017 (Uğur chose the company carefully because he is an old rafting guide) and we paid 50 TL per person.. Unfortunately, I haven’t learned the new prices.

Rafting in Fırna Creek is so active that you won’t leave your wet spot as we see it, so calm and safe that you won’t fall into the water.. All equipment required for rafting, including water shoes, are supplied by the company.

What to wear when going rafting?

Normally, you can go rafting with your swimsuit if the weather is suitable, but frankly, I have not seen a single woman in Rize in a swimsuit or bikini, so I preferred to go with sports shorts and a thin T-shirt.

  • Men; swimsuit or shorts on the bottom, a T-shirt on the top or a neoprene top you use in water
  • Women; they can wear shorts or leggings underneath, a T-shirt on top or a neoprene top you use in the water.
  • I don’t think Rize is a gender-free friendly city.

If it’s cold, a thin raincoat will keep you cold. obstacles. Water shoes are provided by the company, but if you don’t want to wear them, you can also use your own waterproof sandals.

Towel, spare dry clothes and wet clothes as everything you wear will be soaked. Don’t forget to pack a suitable bag.
