Santorini Attractions

Santorini island; With its blue domed white houses, narrow streets and unique caldera view, it is at the top of the list of all travelers who want to have a holiday in the Greek islands.. Santorini vacation, a little different from other Greek islands, can be thought of as a visual vacation rather than sea-sun; because here you will encounter more magnificent landscapes instead of magnificent beaches.. I have created a list of Santorini places to visit so that you can easily find these sights and know Santorini.

First I shared the Santorini map and made markings on it so that you can better visualize the relative positions of the places I will now begin to describe.. As places to visit in Santorini, I will first talk about the important villages/towns/regions of the island and what to do there, then the beaches and touristic places.

Santorini I marked and added the places I mentioned on the map (Map is from greeka.com).

Oia (Ohia – Ia): There is no one who does not admire their domed white houses. When I first saw the photo frame with white cute houses and the view of the caldera, I thought “I must go here one day”.

Santorini’s Its most famous sights belong to the town of Oia.

Here are these landscapes, which are always used in the promotion of Santorini and even the Greek islands, were shot in the town of Oia (pronounced Iya). As the island’s most popular spot, Oia is brimming with people who want to watch the sunset, especially in Santorini, as the evening hours approach.. ‘Overflowing’ here is not just a word, it is in the consistency to test if I throw a needle, I wonder if it will fall to the ground.. You decide by looking at the picture below

Oia town is swarming with tourists as the sunset approaches.

If you want to wander around and watch the sunset in between, like me, you can save the day by inserting your camera into the human spaces you find and asking permission to open a little when you take a picture yourself; but if you say ‘I want to focus on the sun and watch every second of it until it sets’, you may need to arrive a couple of hours early to find a seat.

Reserving a place in restaurants with sunset view can be a good choice, although it is a little more expensive; but if you are going to do this, it is very important that the road does not pass in front of the place where you will sit and that you are directly facing the sea, otherwise you will have to watch the people taking pictures in front of you instead of the view.. Some restaurants were trying to block the tourists on the way for their unfortunate customers, but it was a futile effort.

It’s worth getting into that crowd for this view. .

I set off for Oia on the first afternoon of my arrival in Santorini, probably like everyone else, and was among the things to do in Santorini i saw the famous sunset which was definitely in the first place. The pictures I’ve seen before are not filtered or photoshopped, there’s a riot of colors that you can’t take your eyes off of as the sun goes down.. The view of this riot of colors with the white houses and the caldera view is amazing, the pictures can only tell some of it, you have to go and see it.

But because the town of Oia itself is so beautiful, I love it. I went back the next day, in the daytime, to take some famous pictures and oh my! Oia is a place where you can enjoy its beauty during the day and enjoy its beauty until the crowd of tourists flock, so I would definitely recommend you to go early.. After going around 4pm and hanging out until the evening and taking lots of pictures and the sun sets, you can start other things to do in Santorini.

Want to watch the sunset away from the crowds? Then you might like the boat tour. You can join the boat tours that are sold everywhere with names such as Sunset in Oia and the content you like.. There are tours that only open for the sunset, as well as comprehensive tours that start in the morning and stop by other places to visit in Santorini. I have detailed these tours in my SANTORINI BOAT TOURS article, I recommend you to read it if you are interested.

If we increase our budget ‘a little’, there are many boutique hotels with pools against the sunset view in Oia.. These hotels, whose prices start from 500 Euros in high season, are perfect to offer an unforgettable romance especially to couples who are considering honeymoon in Santorini.. Of course, not all hotels are expensive, click here to see all the hotels in Oia village and their reviews and make a reservation.

Ammoudi, right next to the town of Oia, is surrounded by taverns and taverns. It was a small area with old houses.. It also has a small beach for swimming.. It is a place where photography enthusiasts can capture beautiful shots, but those with limited time can skip it.. You can reach Oia by following the stairs or by taking a donkey taxi.

Pink flowers are a must for the Santorini landscape.

Fira (Thira): Plenty of restaurants, taverns, nightclubs, motor vehicle (scooter, ATV and car) rentals in Fira, the center of Santorini Island office, gift shop, in short, everything.. Since people are on the beaches in other parts of the island during the daytime, the Fira region only starts to get active when the sea time ends.. The caldera view and the sunset are not bad either, it’s a good place to go for a walk.. If you have seen the sunset in Oia, your stop for the next evenings can be Fira.. While the restaurants and taverns inside are at normal prices, the prices increase in proportion to the proximity to the sea view.

I stayed in Santorini Fira for two nights, it is a good choice for being in the center.. Click here to see Fira hotels and their reviews and make a reservation.

If you are interested in Fira, there is the Archaelogical Museum, Museum of Prehistoric Thira and Megaro Gyzi Museum.. I didn’t stop by any of the Santorini museums because my time was limited and I didn’t find it very attractive to visit in the heat

Sunset in Fira, the center of Santorini view..

Imerovigli: The third and last thing we need to know for Santorini trip after Oia and Fira the town of Imerovigli. This is the area where the Santorini caldera view looks the best and creates beautiful colors at sunset (Oia is more popular because of the combination of similar scenery with white houses). So if you want to take a look at the beauty of Santorini in an isolated corner, you can evaluate this region.. You can check out Imerovigli hotels here, they’re so great that almost all of them have average ratings of 9 or higher

Santorini caldera view from Imerovigli town. .

Similar to Oia, Imerovigli is a district surrounded by luxury boutique hotels.. Many of Santorini’s best hotels are located here, with so-called ‘infinity pools’ because they are designed to appear to be combined with the sea view at the back.. Vee, I stayed in one of these hotels for two nights! 🙂 my budget couldn’t stand it). I have explained my experience about this luxury hotel, its prices and the things to consider when choosing a hotel in my SANTORINI HONEYMOON HOTELS article.

The caldera of honeymoon hotels in Santorini the infinity pools with a view look great.

In addition to Oia, Fira and Imerovigli, three of which are in the west of the island and close together, if you have more time Pyrgos The strong> region is also a beautiful place with its narrow streets, classical Greek houses and wine museums.

Now let’s start the review of Santorini beaches. Unfortunately, since Santorini is a volcanic island, it does not have wonderful white beaches, its beaches are always stony.. They even grouped the beaches as red (red), white (white) and black (black) according to the color of the stones and rocks.. Therefore, if your primary goal is to swim, Santorini should not be your first choice; For example, the beaches of Mykonos are much more successful.

Red rocks begin on the road to Santorini Red Beach.

Still, when we look at Where to swim in Santorini, there are many beaches, the most well-known of which is in the south of the island.. The most famous beach is Red Beach. The rocks at this beach are really in red tones and they look interesting. I recommend you to stop by to go to one of the sights in Santorini and to swim in the sea.

If you have more time, Red Beach’s neighbor White Beach (White Beach) You can also stop by the Beach), I didn’t go. When you say white or if you think there is a beautiful white beach, unfortunately there is not; just because the red rocks in Red Beach are white here, it’s called the white beach.

If you’re interested, when you’re around the red and white beaches, Akrotiri Archaelogical Site. If you have been to Pompeii in Italy, it seems to me that the Akrotiri Museum resembles Pompeii as Santorini had a similar fate as a result of the eruption of the volcano.. I did not go here both because I went to Pompei, because I have other priorities on my things to do in Santorini list, and because the Akrotiri entrance fee is 12 Euros.

Sea light is on the southwestern tip of the island, close to White Beach. This place is said to be beautiful for the sunset view.

Santorini Red Beach

Vlichada Beach (Vlihada Beach): A calm and better-than-bad beach with small pebbles, you can go. Since the beaches are not so great, the prices are also cheap compared to Mykonos, if we say that there are two sunbeds and an umbrella of 20 Euros on average, in Santorini it is only 10-12 Euros.. For example 7 Euros at Vlihada beach. Heading to the right, I heard it started to turn into a nudist beach, but after my nudist beach experience in Mykonos (older nudist only) I didn’t go because I wasn’t curious

Kamari, Beaches of Perissa and Perivolos: Santorini’s most famous beaches, the trio, are located in the southeast of the island and are in the black beach group. Kamari is a little higher up, we can say that it is the most crowded beach as it is the closest to the center Fira.. Perissa and Perivolos beaches are the continuation of each other.. When we say beach, everything that comes to mind, such as sunbeds, umbrellas, music, water sports, beach bars, restaurants, is located on these beaches, especially in Perissa.

Vlichada Beach

In addition to Santorini villages and Santorini beaches, Santorini can also visit wine museums. Since the soil of Santorini is volcanic, the grapes grown have a unique taste and the wines made from these grapes are famous.. Some of the wineries to visit are:

Argyros Estate and Canava Roussos near Kamari beach

Near the port Antoniou, Boutari, Gavalas in Megalochori village

Hatzidakis and Santo Wines in Pyrgos village
