Sri Lanka Travel Cost and Sri Lanka Travel Budget

How Much Budget Is Needed for Sri Lanka?

Top 10 Best Places to Visit in Sri Lanka and Sri Lanka travel guide: After our preparations for Sri Lanka we thought and said, our last Sri Lanka post is Sri Lanka travel costand > Get Sri Lanka trip budget. The purpose is to give an idea to those who will go to Sri Lanka after us!

Sri Lanka travel prices, Sri Lanka accommodation prices and We talked about our 10 days Sri Lanka trip budget in detail, now you decide if Sri Lanka is cheap or not.

In our opinion, Sri Lanka is a very cheap country, but to realize how cheap it is, you really need to travel like a backpacker, use public transport, eat street food and do tourist-popping activities. need to stay away (e.g. Whale tours on Sri Lanka Southern beaches). Otherwise, if you say you want to go with the driver, have a pool in the hotels I stay, or eat at Michelin-starred places, life is of course expensive in Sri Lanka.. If there are no Sri Lankans around at the restaurant you enter or the activity you do, understand that it is an expensive place!

The only thing we found expensive in Sri Lanka was Sigria and the entrance fee to some temples. Not everyone may agree with this idea, but we think that if temples do not interest you, it is not necessary to enter these temples, there are important temples in Sri Lanka, yes, but Sri Lanka is definitely much more than visiting temples.

Sri Lanka Hotel Prices

<

The thing that never upset us in Sri Lanka was hotel prices. Before we went, the budget we set for hotels in Sri Lanka was to pay an average of 30 USD per room per night, and we always stayed in clean and central hotels without exceeding this budget.. Moreover, even though we make the reservations at the last minute.

If you want the hotel as bed + breakfast in Sri Lanka, a simple and satisfying breakfast is usually only plus 1-2 USD, and you get rid of the trouble of looking for breakfast in the morning.

Concept hotels in Bali, Thailand, and villas with private pools are much less in Sri Lanka, while those in Sri Lanka are quite expensive.. In this respect, your accommodation theme in Sri Lanka will be ‘simplicity’..

We paid a total of 280 USD to hotels in Sri Lanka, where we stayed for 10 nights.. Sri Lanka has been the most suitable accommodation among our trips in recent years.. In this respect, our score is 10 out of 10!

Let’s even leave the links of some of the hotels we stayed in right here for you;

From here to Hotel Vacanza, our hotel in Mirissa,

You can reach our hotel, The Blue View Ella, from here,

they, our hotel in Kandy, The Trevene Hotel, from here, but oh, we wish we had raised the budget a bit and stayed at Misty Mountain Villas here.

Transportation in Sri Lanka

As for transportation in Sri Lanka; public transport is really cheap. Even with weird music and no air conditioning, it’s less expensive than free after all! That’s why we can say that we managed to find travelers going in the same direction by ‘hunting’ the night before, thus dividing the taxi, and we managed the transportation quite cheaply, even though we had to use public transportation as much as possible, bargain with tuk-tuk drivers, and take a taxi.

Our time is more. If there were many, we could do it much cheaper, without taking a taxi or renting a scooter, but for a white collar, time is money..

Our travel expenses in Sri Lanka were as follows (for two people);

Colombo – Dambulla: 50 Usd Taxi

Dambulla – Sigiriya: 10 Usd Tuktuk

Dambulla – Pinnawala – Kandy: 30 Usd Taxi

Kandy – Nuwara Eliya: 2 Usd train

Nuwara Eliya – Ella: 1 Usd train

Ella – Mirissa: 24 Usd shared taxi

Mirissa – Colombo – shared taxi: 20 Usd

Small tuktuk trips during the day in total: 50 Usd

Transportation (total for two people): 187 Usd

Considering that we traveled non-stop for 10 days and changed places, we think this figure is quite appropriate.. Also, it is almost impossible to find the times of the buses on the internet in advance and to buy tickets, you will have to find out by hand by asking the old-fashioned grocery store or something, don’t worry, there is a way.. It’s better than hiring any kind of driver and paying at least 60 USD per day.

Sri Lanka tourist activity fees:

The thing that surprises and upsets us in Sri Lanka with its expensiveness is touristic activity. There were entrance fees to activities and attractions. Since they do not have much income other than tea and tourism, it is actually normal, but people are still amazed..

Fees per person were as follows;

Sigirya Rock (Lion’s Rock):30 Usd (we went)

Pidurangula Rock: 3 Usd (we went)

Ancient City of Polannaruwa: 25 Usd (we did not go)

Ancient City of Anuradhapura (Anuradhapura Ancient own): 25 Usd (we didn’t go)

Dambulla Cave Temple: 10 Usd (we went)

Royal Bothanical Garden: 5 Usd (we did not go)

Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage: 18 Usd (we went)

Kandy Dance Show: 10 Usd (we didn’t go, glad we didn’t)

Yala National Park Safari: 30 Usd (we didn’t go) , I wish we had gone)

We paid a total of 121 USD for the activities for two people.

The Pinnawala Orphanage, which we regret to have visited, is one of those we wish we had gone to if we had time. is Yala National Park it was safari in strong>. As you can see, temples did not attract our attention.

Eating and Drinking Fees in Sri Lanka

Another thing that makes us happy in Sri Lanka is eating – Drinking fees have been. We are both in the category of ‘casual travellers’ who like to eat street food but are still cautious about it, who buy ourselves a couple of beers in a nice place if we have a cheap meal.. In other words, we think that the food and beverage expenses of two standard people traveling in Sri Lanka will be close to ours.

During the Sri Lanka trip, we generally had breakfast at the hotel and ate lunch at a beautiful sight to our eyes. we ate at local places. We paid around 2-3 Usd per person for noodle, koti or rotti, which are generally traditional dishes.. In the evenings, we either ate in local places or went there if there were some nicer restaurants that we wanted to try.

According to our calculations, we spent a total of 300 USD for two people in 10 days in total on food and drink.. In other words, it came to 30 Usd a day, which is very normal for us.

Our additional expenses are 35 Usd Sri Lanka visa fee per person, and we bought 10 Usd tea on the way back..

Getting a Sim Card in Sri Lanka

Lastly, without forgetting, we paid 7 Usd per person for a cheap sim card in Sri Lanka.

10 We spent a total of 977 USD for two people on a daily trip to Sri Lanka.

We wish everyone a pocket-friendly trip!

Love Everyone!
