STOPS OF CONCEPT COFFEE: PETRA ROASTING CO.

I think my research for a coffee bar every week is becoming my biggest hobby these days when I’m chasing a job.. My venue this week, Petra Roasting Co.. When I saw the photo shared by a friend of mine with the caption of ‘best coffee in town’ from Petra while scrolling through Instagram, I also finalized my address for this week.. I knew Petra from her headquarters in Gayrettepe, in Muse Istanbul; but I stopped by their new bar, which was opened as a small take-away spot at the front entrance of Kanyon, at the weekend, saying that there is a need to make a first in the new branches.

Petra Roasting Co., as the name suggests, is a coffee bean roaster. As one of the new generation representatives of the coffee movement they call the third wave, Petra always offers fresh coffee to its visitors.. If you want to get information about the coffee you will drink here, as well as its beans and its presentation, the baristas are very positive about the subject.. While I was thinking ‘oh, how beautiful this is’, ‘oh, how well thought out here’, ‘hmm, very nice presentation’ in front of the kiosk, a couple was getting a lot of information about coffee beans.. Taking advantage of the situation, I photographed all over the Petra kiosk, revealing my journalist identity.. At the first meeting, they say that visuality is important, of course, I did not want to leave you missing.

Petra’s Cold Brew coffees are very famous. Since it is brewed in cold water for a long time, the aroma of the coffee bean can be taken intensely.. I love black and unsweetened coffees. That’s why my first choice here was ‘Cold Mırra’. Cold Mirra; It is a plain coffee like an Americano, but if you ask for its taste, it is much more intense and therefore a bit bitter.. The spice of coffee beans changes periodically. Its name comes from the intensity and harshness of its aroma.. I can say that Cold Mırra is one of the best cold brew coffees I’ve had in Istanbul, you should definitely try it.. If you want to have some milky milk, I say meet ‘New Orleans’. Iced Latte type, Cold Mırra’s with milk and a little sugar.

I will recommend a coffee called ‘Sbagliato’ for those who like experimental drinks.. A drink like a Negroni, a cocktail type. Espresso is accompanied by soda and orange syrup in Sbagliato. Thanks to the soda, the bitterness of the coffee is also reduced.. On top of the cold Mırra, it was quite aromatic for me.. I say it goes well in the summer heat for those who like the combination of coffee and different aromas.. It’s hard to find coffee with syrup added here, because the concept is that you get the bean flavor of the desired coffee.. There are also tasting notes on the coffees, a good guide when choosing.

While our coffees are being prepared I learned that only ‘speciality’ kernels are imported for Petra.. Our dear barista, Cem Bozkuş, who prepares our coffees for us, says there is always quality control here, we always taste and control our roasts.. I think this place will be an indispensable stop for those who want to go to work completely sober and don’t miss their coffee at the office desk in the coming days.. My next coffee is ready, Affogato prepared with double espresso on 1 scoop of vanilla L’era Fresca ice cream.. On the way home, I plan to buy the Granola and oatmeal cookies that I had my eye on at the weekend.. Let’s see what will be your favorite in Petra?
