What are the things to know and what to consider before going to Greece? I have prepared this list based on my experiences in Greece.. The problems I had were sometimes fun, but sometimes frustrating.. For this reason, it is useful to keep the following items in a corner of your mind before your trip to Greece.

- Bus and train services in Greece There may always be a delay or the time on the website may have departed.. Before making a plan, you should definitely go to the ticket sales point and consult.
- Official working hours in Greece are 07:00 – 14:00. If you have business in government office (including hospital) you need to get it done before this time. The situation may be slightly different in hospitals in big cities, but you need to be careful in small towns.
- Siesta starts at 14:00 and ends at 17:00. There is no guarantee that the shop you plan to shop at will open after 17:00. It may or may not open, depending entirely on the owner.
- Since the Greeks are a night-dwelling nation, they really sleep during siesta hours.. That’s why you need to be quiet during this time or you may encounter angry people.
- Everywhere is closed on Sundays.. When I say that every place is closed, I am not exaggerating, even super markets like Carrefour are closed.
- You may not find any means of transportation on public holidays.. Especially on May 1, transportation vehicles such as trains, buses and even metro will not work.
- The easiest way to reach Greece is by plane.. Transitions from the İpsala border gate can vary between 1 hour and 3.5 hours, depending on the intensity of the period.
- Museums can be considered expensive in Turkish currency, but acceptable by European standards. Those who will travel during the winter months should coincide with the first Sunday of the month when making their travel plans.. Most museums are free on the first Sunday of every month (unless it is a public holiday) from November 1 to March 31.. In addition, museums are free on 6 March, 18 April, 18 May, 5 June, the last week of September and 27 September.. Day)
- In touristic places, you should have no trouble finding someone who speaks English, but in rural areas it’s usually younger people who speak English.
- Touristic places are always expensive. Especially since you are a tourist, you will encounter very high prices.. Don’t be afraid to bargain, you can get the same product for half the price.
- Do not always trust the lockers at the airport or train stations, sometimes they may not work. There is no problem in terms of security, but it can be corrupted.
- Greek people seem unmatched when it comes to hospitality. I can say above Turkish hospitality. Just because you are a foreigner and ask for directions, they may drive you to your destination or invite you to their home for dinner.
