Transportation in Seychelles

As you know, Seychelles is an island country community.. We would like to share with you clear information about transportation on the 3 islands that we have seen and stayed on this trip, which have different worlds. To put it briefly; If you want to tour Seychelles completely, you will need to evaluate the inter-island transportation sea bus and single-engine plane, rental car, taxi and alternatives that you can use in Mahe and Praslin islands.. There is not much alternative for transportation in La digue island. You will either rent a bike or walk

The transportation methods we chose and the transportation on the islands of Mahe, Praslin and La Digue respectively Our experience is here with its costs below!

Mahe is the capital of Seychelles and the order of being the capital is at least evident in the center of Mahe.. You can reach Mahe Island by bus or taxi.. The price of rent a car is 45 euro per day for small Hyundai i10 type vehicles, although there are many companies for rental cars in Mahe, I can say that the prices are very close to each other.. Taxis are quite expensive throughout Seychelles, they charge 200 SCR for 5 km distance and they are not willing to negotiate. We rented our car from Eden’s Car through Maki Car Rental for the island of Mahe.. If you intend to rent a car a long time before you go, we recommend that you complete it.. We stayed at the last moment and got on a 120,000 km long vehicle that you can be grateful for.. It is possible to take a bus to Port Launay Beach and Beau Vallon Beach, one of the 2 most beautiful bays of Mahe Island.. The prices of the buses are very affordable and you can go anywhere with 7 SCR.. There is a serious price difference.. Their bus is Tata, they’re turning the corners like a killer. Car drivers beware.

Although there is a bus transportation facility in Mahe, it was not possible to go everywhere by bus since we wanted to visit the whole island and see all its beaches, so renting a car was a must for us.. If you are planning to travel by bus during your holiday, we have an important warning for you.

Praslin is pronounced Piralin. 2 after Mahe. big and traffic island. You can also use buses with 7 SCRs here.. Only the bus line in Praslin does not enter the bays.. leaving it on the road. For example, if you say that you will go to Anse Lazio by bus, you have to walk about 2 km up and down a one-way road, and don’t forget the sun on the hill.. We also chose a rental car for Praslin Island and rented our car through Kreol Services, it was 45 € per day, this time it was a new car to our luck.. Remember that you cannot take the bus with a large suitcase here, as on Mahe island, and forego the cost of the hydrofoil on Praslin island or the taxi for the airport transfer. There are no permits except government officials, but the hotels almost filled this small island with golf carts.. If you haven’t taken any tours, you can rent a bike from 50 SCR per day from cyclists who are everywhere.. There is always a bargain. Don’t accept what they say first. In a nutshell, you either walk or pedal on the island of La Digue.. Both are quite tiring but worth it.

Now let’s come to the transportation between these islands.. It’s a good idea to set them up before you go.. We made our route as Istanbul – Mahe – Praslin – La Digue – Mahe.

You can pass Mahe – Praslin island by fast sea bus if you wish. This journey takes 1 hour and 15 minutes and unfortunately it is very nauseating.. Vomit, throw up, everyone is making a journey like a hostage with their bags in their hands.. I definitely do not recommend. If you are going to prefer the sea bus, you can make your ticketing transactions via Cat Cocos.. Around 64€ per person. Instead, it’s a very cute 20 min in a small single-engine airplane.. If you want to spend your time, you can fly with Air Seychelles on domestic lines by paying 75 € one way per person.. If we were to go again, we would never take the sea bus.

Praslin – La Digue, you can do it again by buying a ticket from Cat Cocos by sea bus.. This trip was also 14 € per person.

And what we really need to talk about is Seychelles flight ticket prices and the flight Istanbul – Mahe – Istanbul. This flight was the most costly. Although it was 9 months ago, we bought one way tickets for 3,000 TL per person.. After Mahe, the plane goes to Morani island and on the way back, it stops by there and comes to Mahe.

We chose THY because it flies non-stop to Seychelles, but we can say that we regret it.. Because the return trip was a disaster, it was the first time in my life that we had to get on such a filthy plane.. Before the plane from Morani was evacuated, Mahe passengers also got on, almost like a minibus, making people wait for them.. Started to take off without cleaning etc.. If you are going to fly with THY, it is useful to keep in mind.

It is possible to arrange and buy everything online before you go.. Don’t forget to take out your vouchers, also get the information of the person to call in case of emergency..
