We paid 120 euros for two people for three nights, but it didn’t happen as I was worried.. The house was clean, milk for breakfast, fruit yoghurt, variety of breads, jams, croissants, bananas etc.. food was replenished daily by the host. Verona Food & Drink Advice. I don’t think anyone would like it either Whichever city I went to in Italy, I usually try to try the flavors of that region, apart from pizza and pasta.. Sometimes it’s hard, sometimes it’s easier than I expected. I thought that I could try local delicacies in Verona, but when I saw that horse meat was eaten with such pleasure, things got a little confused for me.. I will try to answer the question of what to eat in Verona without getting lost among horse and donkey meat.

It is useful to carefully examine the menu while eating in Verona.. Because the dishes with the word Caval (Horse) and Sugo (Donkey) are made from horse and donkey meat. Moreover, horse and donkey meat are among the fixtures of Verona cuisine.. The most delicious Verona food you can eat at Osterias is risotto rice and Risotto Amarone, made with Verona’s most famous wine, Amarone della Valpolicella. Polenta , made with corn flour and resembles porridge Another delicious option. Although polenta is usually served with parmesan cheese, it is also served with meat and mushrooms.. I tried it at Pasta e Polenta, which sells take away at number 20 Via Pallone, it was quite delicious. As the name suggests, you can also eat pasta in Pasta e Polenta besides Polenta.. While polenta is sold between 4.00-6.00 euros depending on their size, pastas are sold between 5.00-6.00 euros.

If you want to eat polenta at the restaurant, you can go to Osteria al Duca.. The wine menu of the restaurant, run by an Italian family, is also quite ambitious.

For those who are skeptical about meat like me, you can try the homemade pasta Agnolitti’ or the sea bass served with Polenta ( Baccala con Polenta) can try.

Via Sottoriva has many wine shops where you can buy Italian wines.. You can choose Amarone of Istituto Enologico Italiano. In addition to the wineries, Via Sottoriva also has restaurants where you can have a pleasant time.

Where to eat pizza in Verona Corte Farina Pizzeria’ in Via Farina 4 > let’s get it. Try the Neapolitan style pizza from Verona chefs.. The price of pizzas varies between 4.00 and 10.00 euros.

The owner of the house we stayed in Verona suggested a few restaurants to us.. You can eat the traditional dishes of Verona at Le Vecete at number 32 Via Pellicciai.

Places to Visit in Verona

Verona is one of the most popular cities not only in the Veneto region but also in Italy with its history, nature and city structure.. Although Verona is known only as the city of Romeo-Juliet and the Arena, I think there is much more to Verona than that.

Each street of Verona, surrounded by the Adige River, leads to a different historical structure.. Verona Lamberti Tower, Roman Theatre, Verona Cathedral, Castelvecchio, Verona Arena and Juliet’s House; Via Mazzini, which connects squares and squares such as Piazza delle Erbe, Piazza dei Signori, Piazza Bra, >Via Cappello hosts streets with world-famous and local brands such as Corso Porta Borsari.

Erbe Square (Piazza delle Erbe) strong>

Undoubtedly the most beautiful square in Verona Piazza delle Erbe. I am sure you will pass by here often during your trip to Verona.. Surrounded by medieval buildings and towers, the square is frequented by street artists.. Although the surrounding of the fountain in the middle was once filled with the stalls of the fruit and vegetable market, today mostly souvenirs are sold at the stalls.. You can easily find all kinds of souvenirs about Verona here.

There are many restaurants and wine houses where you can drink coffee, eat pizza or have a glass of wine any time of the day.. If you go up to Lamberti tower, which you will see when you lift your head up, you can discover the historical texture of Erbe square in all its beauty.

To go to Erbe from Verona Porto Nuovo Train Station 11, 12, 13, 30, 51, 52, 73 You should get off at Stradone S.Fermo stop by bus numbered , 90, 92, 98 and walk for about 5 minutes.

Signori Square (Piazza dei Signori)

As soon as you enter Signori Square, Dante’s statue greets you. Since Verona was surrounded by the houses of the rulers and wealthy families in the history, this place is shown as the ancient center of power.

You can easily reach Signori Square by passing the arched columns of Erbe Square.. The buildings are so magnificent that I couldn’t put my head down for a long time One of the structures you should see here is the Loggia del Consiglio.. This is considered to be one of the most beautiful palaces in Northern Italy.. Unfortunately, the palace is closed to visitors.

Lamberti Tower (Torre dei Lamberti)

Verona in the Middle Ages If you lived in .. Just as in Bologna and San Gimignano, we see the connection between towers and wealth here. The tower has two bells, Rengo and Marangona.

If you want to see Verona from above, I recommend you to climb Lamberti Tower. Adults can enter the Lamberti Tower for 8 euros and students 5 euros.. The good news is that there is an elevator to go up to the tower.. But you have to pay 1 euro more for it. If you have a Verona card you can enter the tower free.

Juliet’ House of (Casa di Giulietta)

In Verona, you inevitably end up at Juliet’s House first.. This is a house, a city that smells of love, with the famous balcony where Romeo serenaded Juliet, the love letters covering the walls and the colorful love locks on the door… The statue of Juliet you see in the garden of the house has a different meaning.. According to belief, when you touch the right breast of the statue and make a wish, it brings luck and love.. After the men’s queue to take pictures while touching Juliet’s chest was over, I took her arm and made my wish 🙂 What did Aşık Veysel say; “You can’t meet, it’s love!”

As you walk the streets of Verona, you think of the story of Romeo and Juliet.. The tragic story of two lovers, written by Shakespeare, is so integrated with this city that you involuntarily feel as if you are following them in the streets of Verona.. As if Juliet’s House has witnessed this magical love, the scene where Romeo serenades comes to life in your eyes…

The history of the house 13. Although it dates back to the 19th century, Juliet’s balcony was built in the early 20th century to fit the love story of Romeo and Juliet.. The doors of the house open at 10:00.. If you want to travel comfortably, it is better to choose early in the morning.. On the first day of our Verona trip, we decided to stop by in the afternoon, but the courtyard was so full that there was no place to take a photo, but to take a step.. When we went the next day at the opening time of the house, we were able to visit very comfortably because the crowd had not started yet.

Juliet’s House is a small place.. You can see thousands of love messages on the Gum Wall, which they call “Gum Wall”, before you come to the courtyard.. If you wish, you can paste your love or any word you wish on this wall.. Stick your message firmly on the wall because the staff digs up old ones after you’re gone to make room for new ones While visiting Juliet’s House, I think of the movie “Letter to Juliet”. The audience will surely remember, in the movie, Amanda Seyfried was befriending Juliet’s secretaries who answered the letters from lovers in Juliet’s House. In reality, there is such a club, but they do not answer the letters left on the wall as described in the movie.. There are so many letters and messages that they are impossible to answer anyway.

Although the Juliet Club does not respond to the messages and letters on the wall, if you send your letter to the red Juliet’s Mailbox next to the sewing workshop and inside the house, they will reply to you Juliet’s letter If you don’t know about the box, you can send your message to Juliet Club Corso Santa Anastasia 29, 37121 Verona-Italy or send an e-mail to [email protected].

You can tour the courtyard of Juliet’s House free of charge.. In the courtyard are a statue of Juliet, a gift shop (too commercial for me), and the sewing workshop of the Juliet Club.. If you wish, you can buy aprons with your names on them.. If you can get a lock from the gift shop and find a place (!), you can hang it on the irons.

The biggest attraction of Juliet’s courtyard is of course Juliet’s statue.. Don’t be surprised if you see a long queue waiting in front of the statue.. Lovers are officially competing for luck.

Entrance fee to Juliet’s House 6 euros for adults, 4.5 euros for students. If you have a Verona card you can enter Juliet’s House for free. Juliet’s House is open Monday to 13.30 Tuesday to Sunday 08.30-19.30. Inside the house, Juliet’s statue, Shakespeare’s bust, visuals from theater plays, Romeo and Juliet’s dress, Juliet’s room and 4 screens where you can send letters via e-mail, Juliet’s Mailbox and Juliet’s famous balcony

Keep in mind that if you go to Juliet’s House on Valentine’s Day, you pay 1 euro to see inside.

Roman Theater and Archaeological Museum (Teatro Romano)

After being full of love at Juliet’s House, with the suggestion of helpful Italians, we decided to visit Verona from the hill where the San Pietro castle is located, to see Verona on the Adige River. we found it at the stone bridge Ponte di Pietro. Everything was fine until I saw the staircase to San Pietro. I did not like to see that there is a funicular (Funicular of Verona) that emerges after climbing all those steps.. Though this discontent was long gone by the sight I saw when I turned my back.. If you don’t want to walk, if you follow the road on the left when you leave Ponte di Pietro, you can find the funicular that goes up to San Pietro.

Roman Theater and Archaeological Museum are located at the foot of San Pietro. Those who do not want to go to San Pietro can go to the Roman Theater right after passing the San Pietro stairs.. Although the Roman Theater has a magnificent view, if you like scenery, make sure to go to San Pietro among the cypress trees.. After going to San Pietro, I did not choose to go inside the Roman Theatre, as I saw the theater from above and was satisfied with the view.. I wanted to go to the Roman Theatre, where theater performances and concerts are held throughout the summer, if there was a concert at the time I was there, but unfortunately there wasn’t:(

If you want to enter the Roman Theater outside of the theatre, festival or concert, the fee is 4.5 euros for adults. , 3.00 euro for student. Free entry with Verona card. The theater can be visited between 08.30-19.30 on Tuesdays and Sundays, Mondays at 13.30.

Verona Cathedral (Duomo di Verona)

If you turn right after passing Ponte di Pietro on the way back from Roman Theatre, that road will take you straight to Verona Cathedral. takes away. Although the bell tower next to it attracts more attention than the cathedral, the Cathedral hosts works from Roman history, and there are works made by world-famous painters of its time on its walls.. The most important of these is the Italian Titian’s “The Assumption of the Virgin”, which describes the ascension of the Virgin Mary to the sky.

The entrance to Verona Cathedral is unfortunately paid.. Adults pay 2.5 euros, while students pay 2.00 euros. For those who like to visit Verona religious buildings, a collective entrance card has been thought of for 4 main churches, including Duomo, S.Anastasia, S.Fermo and S.Zeno.. If you wish, you can get this card for 6 euros if you are an adult and 5 euros if you are a student.. If you have a Verona card, you can enter the cathedral for free.

Castelvecchio

Verona’s city center on the banks of the Adige River. Castelvecchio, the most magnificent structure, adds a different atmosphere to Verona from other cities of Italy with its red brick walls and towering towers dominating Verona.. The castle from the Middle Ages has been restored many times, including being demolished and rebuilt until today.. What happened to the castle does not end there, last year the paintings that adorned the walls of the castle, including the works of artists such as Mantegna, Pisanello and Rubens, were stolen.. Although the paintings were found later, unfortunately they are no longer on display.

You can enter certain parts of the castle and the Ponte Scaligero on the Adige River for free.. The Scaligero bridge with its high arches is also used by the people of Verona to cross the river.. The view of the bridge is worth looking at and photographing.

You can spare 1 hour to wander around the castle and see the beauties around it and the sculptures and other works of art inside.. If you want to enter the other sections and the museum inside, adults pay 6 euros, students pay 4.5 euros.. As in many buildings, the entrance is free with the Verona Card.

Bra Square (Piazza Bra)

Bra Square, in my opinion, is the second most ostentatious square in Verona after Erbe. This place is home to the historical gate of the city, a park that is not available in other squares, a park where you can sit and breathe, historical buildings lined up side by side, restaurants and the Arena, which has become the symbol of not only the square but also Verona in all its glory. I sat in a restaurant in Bra Square to rest my tired body.. While I was eating and drinking, I observed the surroundings.. There are some moments you don’t want to photograph, you just want to live. I got that feeling here too.. I watched for a long time the Veronaians and tourists passing by. I think tourism is one of the city’s most important sources of income.. The convoys do not stop.. I can’t help but wonder if the love story written centuries ago would be this effective.
