Volendam is a picturesque city in the north of the Netherlands with a population of around 20,000.. This city, which was an old port, is an important and touristic place that has become popular today with its old fishing boats and traditional clothes.

This quiet quiet city is located 20 km from Amsterdam. It can be reached by direct buses and even by bicycle.

TO REACH VOLENDAM: HOW TO GET VOLENDAM?

By car: You can reach here by following the A10 and N247 highways from Amsterdam.

By bus: You should take the 312, 314, 315 or 316 numbered buses departing from the Amsterdam Central Bus Station in the direction of Edam and get off at the Dorp at Broek in Waterland.. You can also take the bus number 110 in the direction of Purmerend Tramplein.

By Sea: Ferry services are available between Marken and Volendam from mid-May to the end of October.. Flights are made every 30- 45 minutes and can be a pleasant alternative to the highway.

The places to see in Volendam are quite limited. This is not a city with historical sites, museums, churches, palaces.. It is more of a quiet and peaceful place.

Stolphoevekerk: This farmhouse-like church is the oldest in Volendam. It is still used, but most of the time it is closed to visitors.

Volendams Museum: In this historical museum, you can examine traditional costumes, fishing exhibits, interior architecture of old houses and folkloric works of art.

Visafslag: Built in 1934, this wooden building used to be the place where fishermen sold fish to their customers, but now it is one of the main monuments of the city.

FUN AND NIGHTLIFE IN VOLENDAM
