I didn’t believe them before I went to Lviv. Lviv; While it is a nice and economical city to visit, it is also full of food and drink options that you will never forget when you return from your trip. Let me sum it up without being too blunt; You sit in the best places in the city, you tell your table whatever you want to try from the starter to the salad, your choice is probably meat for the main course, you order the drink you want to accompany it, if it’s not enough, you don’t want to ask for the bill when everything is finished and you are full of it. It comes, you see that when you convert it to Turkish Lira, you say goodbye to your joy for two with a number that turns into a bird.. I have heard many times that this city is full of surprises, I have read it in many places, but I could not have guessed this much.. Now, as someone who has experienced each and every one of them, I can comfortably say that you can eat such delicious food in such good places, in such cheap cities, in very, very few cities in your life.. LVIV FOOD AND DRINK GUIDE
#1 Atlas:
The corner neighbor of Rynok Square is the best spot to watch Lviv’s pastel houses. As we landed in the city and settled in our hotel, we breathed here, and we did well.. This is a perfect place to enjoy while watching the Rynok view during your familiarization tours to Lviv.. The menu is very European, meat and chicken options are pleasing.. It has an extensive drink menu, its cocktails are just as successful.. I recommend you to sit outside in the sunny weather, but otherwise the interior has nostalgic decoration that is just as enjoyable.. Atlas is probably one of the most expensive restaurants we went to this trip. We ordered a main course of chicken, Greek salad, Italian snack plate and 2 glasses of wine to the table.. Our account cost 593 hryvnia, approximately 79 TL.

#2 Backzewski Restaurant:
Backzewski is one of the highlights of the city. It attracts people quickly with its interior decoration from the botanical garden.. This place is considered to be the best stop for traditional Ukrainian cuisine in town.. However, it is not easy to taste these flavors of Backzewski.. Just as you make a reservation three weeks in advance to dine at Figlmüller in Vienna, going to dinner here requires the same.. It is not our habit to act with reservations in our travels, it makes us more happy to travel spontaneously.. So we didn’t fit that mold for Backzewski either.. If you are like us, you have a second alternative to experience the environment.

The restaurant serves open buffet brunch every morning between 8-11; If you want to have breakfast with piano and champagne, you can go for it by paying 120 hryvnia (16TL) per person.. However, we are talking about a very popular place among locals and tourists alike; Therefore, the crowd of each hour is different.. Unable to book brunch. We were on our way at 10am on our second morning, as it was our duty to somehow eat at Backzewski.. But of course, since the line stretches all the way to the beginning of the street, we decided not to waste time waiting and gave up.. Unfortunately, we don’t like to wait in line..

The next day, We looked that it won’t happen, we found ourselves at the door at 5 past 8 in the morning.. Although the restaurant opened only 5 minutes ago, we chose one of the remaining 2 tables in the section added later and ran to the buffet.. I regret to say that the buffet could not be fully appointed, a 4-star Antalya hotel. You are full, but the hot menu is very tasteless and most importantly, everyone working is very, very sullen. Personally, I don’t want to start my morning so unhappy.. That’s why if I ever go to Lviv again, I won’t think of coming here.. My advice to you is; If you’re coming, make a reservation for lunch or dinner.. At least, taste the traditional cuisine.

#3 Centaur:
One of the places you can choose for breakfast Centaur. You can come to Centaur to enjoy an early morning, and sober up here with the views of Rynok Square and delicious options.. Centaur’s pancakes and egg alternatives are among the recommended ones.

We sat down to try the legendary cheesecake. In addition to the cheesecake, we ordered a Varenyky (we can say Ukrainian ravioli) with mince crepe and cherry.. It cost 244 hryvnia with our teas, ie 33 TL. If you come here, you can also drink Turkish Coffee.. Don’t forget to mention that you want water made, because they also make it with milk.. As a note; It’s also delicious.

Centaur, Lviv Cheesecake
#4 Champagneria X&X:
We came to one of the city’s classics. You can’t go back without trying Champagneria X&X’s khachapuri and hot dogs.. Khachapuri, the Georgian version of pita we know. Did you order a hot dog with it?. Portions are big, so let’s say it all out, don’t think we’ll eat it. The menu includes chicken, meat and pork, there is no limit to the alternative.. The wide champagne and wine menu of the place is confusing for dinner, people have a hard time choosing after all.. Our first choice was Odessa Semidry and Odesse Moscat from sparkling wines, then we tried Red and Rose.. We strongly recommend. The sum of these counts is 278 hryvnia, approximately 37 TL.
By the way, Odessa Ukraine’s local wine brand. If you like it, you can go to Virmenska Street right next to it and pay about 15₺ per bottle from the monopoly there to carry it home.

#5 Cukor:
One of the best cafes you can come to for breakfast in Lviv, its concept is ‘all day breakfast’ anyway. We loved Cukor and its flavors so much that we came here on our two mornings.. In particular, avocado toasts, egg options and pancakes are very successful.. Our favorites are the Instabreakfast with poached egg avocado toast and the desserts section’s favorite is berry pancake.

We went to a branch of Cukor which is very close to Rynok Square and within walking distance of the square.. Actually, both have separate menus, you need to go to the branch near the square for the Instabreakfast plate.

In the branch within walking distance, sitting outside is attractive.. Both portions are huge and very tasty.. In addition to breakfast, there is a wide selection of tea and coffee options.. The amount you will pay in both branches is between 250-300 hryvnia.. Definitely on the list for a trip to Lviv.

#6 Lviv Handmade Chocolate:
No matter which friend I told that I went to Lviv, the conversation ended with the sentence ‘Don’t come without buying chocolate from Lviv Handmade Chocolate’. We said that there is something they know, we went.. You can take a break here to eat chocolate products and desserts; hot chocolate is the highlight of the menu. It’s actually pretty melted chocolate.. J There is also a huge store section with dozens of varieties.. Don’t save your chocolate shopping for Duty Free and get ripped off.. Here’s a square tablet of 54 hryvnia, and from what I’ve bought, I can tell you that each one is amazing!

#7 Mon Pius :
One of the things you should eat in Lviv is meat. Since the prices are very very economical, let’s say we are solving the problem of eating a good meat meal out in Turkey here.. There are many steakhouses in the city, one of the most amazing places you can visit while you are there is Mon Pius on Armenian Street.. Serving in the old Armenian Bank building, the place also has a very pleasant garden.

The numbers you will see in the menu surprise you at first; because the alternatives are calculated and written over 100 grams. Therefore, you should take this into consideration and order by stating the amount you want to eat.. We paid 483 hryvnia for a 200 gram steak, meat salad, french fries and two local beers at Mon Pius.. One is really amazed that there are these delicious meats and that you pay 65 TL for the alcoholic table.. Be sure to come.

#8 Lviv Croissants:
Come to Lviv only because it is a cheap city to visit. If you are traveling with a very limited budget, you can have your breakfast here.. Croissants come in many varieties, from plain to salmon.. The cheapest is 30, the most expensive is 69 hryvnia. Coffees up to 50 hryvnia. We didn’t like the croissants very much, it seemed to me a bit torn between the soft, bread-like brioche of Italians and the crispy croissants of the French.. But of course, taste is a variable subject.. I wanted it to be on the list because it’s affordable, so try it if you like it.

#9 Pizzeria Celentano:
An Italian restaurant featured in our notes and strongly recommended by our hotel. Husband’s pizza is very famous, it looks really delicious. Very similar to what I ate in Italy in type.. We chose to go at night when we walked the whole city, we didn’t have much room in our stomach.. Since the doughy options did not whet our appetite, we ordered bruschetta, cheese plate, Caprese salad and two glasses of Italian wine from the very Italian menu.. Our selection of glasses was large, our account was 508 hryvnia as in Atlas. I think we would have paid at least 150 TL for this table in Istanbul, here it is 68 TL.
Celentano is a corner place overlooking Rynok Square.. It has a place to sit outside, it’s very big inside. Since this place is also very popular, it gets quite crowded in the evening.. You may have a hard time finding a place between 8-9, but I must add that everything is quite delicious.

Lviv Coffee Mining Manufacture: Lviv Coffee Mining Manufacture, located at the touristic point Rynok Square, is naturally the most touristic coffee shop.. Let’s not say coffee shop; this is also a coffee producer. This section welcomes you with the aromas of coffee as soon as you step into the place, which is known for its different brewing techniques and thousands of beans.. First, you start from the store section; The area where coffee beans are roasted and sold at the entrance, and then the section where you can both buy souvenirs about Lviv and find trinkets related to coffee.. When you move inside, you reach the cafe side.

This is Lviv’s first and largest coffee shop opened in 1675. In the past, coffee traders brought the beans here and roasted them; the concept is still in progress. When you go downstairs from the area you come to as a cafe, you pass to the cellar section.. To enter, you must wear the helmet provided at the entrance.. Coffees are served in a miner’s bowl in accordance with the shape.. They also have a flaming show; They caramelize the coffee and serve it like that.. I can say that everyone who comes is drinking from it; however, we chose to sit in the section above because the downstairs was a bit overwhelming for me.
Turkish Coffee we know under the name of Lviv Style Coffee
We said everything on the menu that says Lviv in front of it. We were ready to meet local flavors with Lviv Style Coffee, Lviv Style Cappucino and Lviv Cheesecake.. However, the coffee that comes under the name of Lviv Style is actually Turkish coffee, and the one served under the name of Lviv Style Cappucino is exactly Turkish Coffee Cappucino.. Turns out, they adapted the Turkish coffee they brought to the city during the Ottoman period to the traditional flavors of Lviv.. Cheesecake served with marmalade, a click away from what we ate at Centaur. Napoleon cake is recommended the most, we couldn’t find a place to try it.. All except the cake is 135 hryvnia.

Svit Kavy:
Svit Kavy became our favorite coffee shop in Lviv. It is similar in style to Caffe Nero and Starbucks, but their coffee is delicious. Like many popular places, this place overlooks Rynok Square; but the good news is it’s not a tourist hotspot. We tried flat white, plum tart and chocolate chip cookies at Svit Kavy. We liked them all, we would have come a few more times if we had more time. Apart from Rynok, we came across a branch of Svit Kavy in Cathedralna Square.. And keep that in mind.

Another new generation coffee shop in the city. The venue is an example of Scandinavian coffee bars we’ve seen and loved on Instagram. There was a shooting inside when we went, we didn’t want to sit among the big lights and decorations, but let it be here.

A coffee shop that you can come across with buffet style while visiting Lviv. There are coffee varieties that are obviously calorie bombs from milkshakes and frappucino.. We tried their americano and latte, it is a preferred place to drink while on the road during the day.. Pravda Beer Theatre:
One of the indispensable places of the city has become one of the places to visit in Lviv. However, inside is a tourist hotspot and always crowded.. It is extremely difficult to find a place at certain times. It has a bar and shop on the ground floor.. If you want, you can buy their own beers from the store and bring them to your home.. Upstairs seating is definitely more enjoyable. You can choose and order their own beers from the menu, although not too many.. Sure, if you find a waiter. The service is very, very bad; not even. Once you see it, you cannot see it again, you can never order it, if you succeed, it will arrive in 45 minutes.. I think it’s enough to see the ambiance and take a tour inside.. One of the best quality bars to go to in Lviv. As the name suggests, this is a jazz bar.. To get here, come to Armenian Street, where the Armenian Cathedral is located, pass Mon Pius and enter the road in between, enter through the door on your right.. The place is on your right, an old uncle is sitting inside. Now that you’ve found it, you can go upstairs and enjoy it.

The biggest reason we love this square cafe/bar is because it is across the street from the hotel we are staying at.. For us, it is a place where we can have a coffee or cocktail at any time, and at the same time it is a place that feels very local.. So if you want to take a 20-minute break while wandering around Rynok, you can sit in this open-air cafe right next to City Hall.

If you are making plans in Lviv, it is not possible to return without stopping by this bar.. You can tell by the queue in front of the passage just opposite the Town Hall, you found Kryjivka! This is Lviv’s first thematic venue, also an underground bar. Naturally, it is a fact that it is extremely touristic.
