Venice, which has an assertive place among Europe’s most romantic cities, One of the cities you can go for a short getaway for two or three days or you should definitely include in the same trip with other popular cities of Italy such as Rome – Florence. In such a popular city, what we need to do right after we buy our Venice flight ticket is to find the best accommodation option for our budget among Venice. Therefore, in this article, I will try to give information that will answer the question of Where to stay in Venice.
As I detailed in my Venice Travel Guide article, Venice; central Venice consists of a region covering Mestre and the islands, what we really want to see is central Venice. In this case, of course, it should be our first choice for accommodation.. However, as it is both a very small and very popular place, accommodation options in the center are unfortunately limited.. Especially if you are going during the Venice Carnival, your job is quite difficult
Therefore, two options come to the fore: First, increase the accommodation budget a little and stay in the center (desired); the second is to explore the options in Mestre on the mainland or Lido, a large island, and return to the center by vaporetto (which may be obligatory). Hotel prices in Venice will start from around 50 Euros for a double person, although it varies depending on the period you are going to.. In addition, under the name of tourist tax, an extra fee of around 1 – 2 Euros per person per night is charged and I can say it is everywhere. When you click on the hotels I have given the links below, you will also see the amount of tourist tax.
As a result of my research, I gave the names of some hotels I liked, taking into account customer reviews, locations and prices, by clicking on the hotel names booking.com site. I prefer to book on booking.com for all my travels, as it offers the best price guarantee (if you find the same hotel cheaper elsewhere, they pay the difference) and many hotels offer free cancellation options.
Center Venice on the map above consists of six districts (Italian: sestiere) scattered on both sides of the Grand Canal. San Marco, Cannaregio and Castello on the right side of the canal; on the left are the Dorsoduro, San Polo and Santa Croce districts.. In other words, if you want to stay in central Venice, your hotel address must be in one of these 6 regions.. All of the hotels I have given examples below are like that.. If you are thinking of honeymoon in Venice, I think you can consider 3-star hotels and above as Venice honeymoon hotels depending on your budget.
I have listed the hotels closest to San Marco Square, the heart of Venice, below.. Click on the hotel names to see guest reviews and other details such as price information.
Baglioni Hotel Luna (5 stars), Hotel Danieli (5 stars)
Albergo Cavalletto & Doge Orseolo (4 stars), Savoia & Jolanda (4 stars)
Hotel Paganelli (3 stars) ), Antico Panada (3 stars), Hotel Gorizia a La Valigia (3 stars), Hotel San Gallo (3 stars), Hotel Monte Carlo (3 stars)
Ca Lodovica (Apartment), Casa Carlo Goldoni (Flat)
Hotel Rio (2 stars)
The above options and similar ones are over your budget or if you don’t have room for your dates even though you like them, let’s look at alternatives where we can get away from St. Mark’s Square a little but still stay in the central island of Venice.
Ca’ Angeli (Guest house), Lodge SS. Giovanni e Paolo (Guest house)
Hotel Agli Alboretti (3 stars), Hotel Olimpia Venezia (3 stars)
Hotel San Samuele (1 star)
If you are going to arrive in Venice by train or go elsewhere by train, it may be practical to stay in a hotel near Santa Lucia Train Station For example, Hotel Universo & Nord (3 stars) is located 150 meters from Venice train station.
Other options are; surrounding places are Mestre, Lido and Burano. As I mentioned and marked on the map above, when you think about it in a broad sense, the surrounding places are also considered Venice, and you may come across as a bad surprise if you want to stay in the center but unwittingly make a reservation there.. Best of all, find on the map where you plan to stay and look at the distance from St. Mark’s Square. The shorter the distance, the better the location of the place you will stay.
Remember, if you are not going to go outside of Venice, that is, you will not be on the same land as the touristic places I have just mentioned, you can use the resort hotel concept. there is a luxury option built on an islet of its own and the owner of the hotel is Turkish! Turkish hotel in Venice San Clemente Palace Kempinski Venice (5 stars) looks like a great option, don’t forget to check it out.
Mestre has Venice airport, if you stay here you will be close to the airport. If your flight time is very late at night or very early in the morning, when there is no public transport, depending on which flight is like this, staying close to the airport on the first or last day will make your job easier and it will be advantageous not to spend too much money on airport transportation.. If you have such a situation, you can only book the relevant night from Mestre hotels.. For example, Hotel Venice Resort (4 stars) seems to be a good alternative, 1 km from the airport.
Lido, on the other hand, is a summer resort with many beaches, if you’re going in the summer, it might even be good to stay here.. But my personal opinion is that you should research the places in the center and look at the surrounding areas if you are really sure that there is no option that fits your budget here.. Otherwise, your entire trip will depend on vaporetto hours, and you can get bored and waste time by commuting.. In addition, although you can walk around when you stay in the center, otherwise you will have to buy a vaporetto ticket for the duration of your trip, and there are high ticket prices such as 7 Euros one way, 20 Euros per day, 40 Euros for three days.
