Won an Award for my Sri Lankan Writing

Sri Lanka travel writing contest, which was announced by Gezievreni.com in the past months, emphasizing that it is as important to write about what we have visited as traveling I decided to join with . The article was intended to be informative, not in the style of a memoir, but in the style of a travel guide; that’s just me I decided to write an article about Sri Lanka since it is one of the interesting places that many travelers wonder about and add to their travel list lately.

Writing about a country rather than a city gave me a bit of a hard time; because although there are many things I wanted to talk about in different cities of the country, there was a maximum limit of 2000 words in the competition rules.. I had to do a lot of research and give information by combining what I researched with my own observations, and I had to do it as short as possible.. I thought, I couldn’t write, I wrote and deleted, I read and changed again, and after long efforts, I was able to create a travel article that I would feel comfortable with.. And this time I had another very difficult job, adding a picture to the article.. Out of the thousands of pictures I took in Sri Lanka, I was able to choose a few that would be most compatible with the text after a lot of work and sent them with the text.

Then I went to Kazakhstan, just before Christmas. I did a Romantic Road tour in Germany. I also saw that the award night of the competition has already arrived.

I eagerly waited for the evening to come, and when the evening came, I was impatient until the moment when the winners would be announced Those who know, I always write something without stopping with a pen in my hand or a computer in front of me.. I don’t care if my finger holding the pen gets calluses or my eyes turn bloodshot because I don’t get up from the computer because writing makes me very happy.. Recently, since I spent almost all my writing time creating travel guides by creating this blog, it was an indication that I could ‘do really well’ something that I enjoy doing and at the same time I spend all my spare time without expecting anything in return, and that’s why it’s my job.

The expected moment has come and dear Kemal Kaya, who organized and announced the competition, started to announce the top three winners together with the competition sponsor companies.. In fact, when the third and second ones are announced, people both want and do not want to be mentioned.. He wants it because it’s good to be in the top three, he doesn’t because it’s better to be the first And after all, my name was read in the third place, and being third out of close to 500 articles is not bad for the first time.

We got our awards from the sponsor companies by entering the top three in the competition.

What did I win as a prize, domestic airfare. As I will be moving to Germany soon, I couldn’t help but wish it was abroad, of course.. I will try to use my award tickets at a time when domestic tickets are the most expensive, like Bodrum, during the summer holidays, what shall we do

The first Sri Lanka article I shared on my own blog is Sri Lanka. It was for the benefit of those who were wondering what is in their minds but could not sit down and wonder if they should go..
